Dartmouth House Inn

What guests think

Dartmouth House earns consistent praise for its beautifully restored historic character, welcoming staff, and standout made-to-order breakfasts, with guests also appreciating the quiet, convenient Park Avenue location and comfortable, well-appointed rooms that feel both period-authentic and modern.

Several reviews note that upper-floor rooms require climbing stairs and that some bathtub-in-shower designs feel awkward or risky, especially for guests with limited mobility. Housekeeping and maintenance are frequently described as immaculate, and the setting encourages friendly interaction among guests. Overall, it suits guests who prefer a personable B&B over a standard hotel.

Our stay there was very nice. Owners were very nice and friendly. Rooms were clean and stocked nicely. The only issue we had was that the house is not equipped for people that are handicapped. My husband broke his hip a year ago and had trouble navigating the stairs. Our first night there we were on the second floor, the second night we were moved to the third floor. He also could not take a shower because he had to climb into a tub to do so. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay there.

We decided to try something different for our trip to Rochester and booked a BnB. It was a delightful stay in a beautiful Park Ave neighborhood. The BnB is within walking distance of the Park Ave restaurants and lots of fun. The staff was delightful, and helpful. The camaraderie with the staff and other visitors was fantastic! The only complaint was the bath/shower arrangement was awkward, getting in and out of the shower was a bit dicey. More safety rails would be helpful. In any case, we'll be back.

The room was spotless, the house was beautiful except the bathroom. The tub in the middle of the walk in shower was hard to use and seemed dangerous.

I think the inside off the property was beautiful and the rooms were incredibly comfortable. Parking was a little tight, but workable with the number of folks staying on the property. Surrounding neighborhood was very quiet and friendly. The breakfast each day was delicious, and the hospitality couldn't have been nicer. They really couldn't have been any more accommodating. Would stay here again if I'm in the area and need a place to stay. Greg and Milena were just the best.

the staff was extremely helpful. The breakfast was wonderful. It is in a large house and each room is its own layout. We were on the top floor suite with an outside porch. the only downside is that meant climbing 2 flights of stairs every time we went up and down. Not a problem since we did not have to shlep our bags up by ourselves, but pay attention as to which floor you are on if climbing stairs is an issue. we would definitely stay there again.
