Mostly very nice, but rooms are somewhat small; there's no dressing area. It seems that they are trying to save money any way they can. No turndown service. No printed room service menu, which is important if you're older and your eyes are not great. It took 3 tries to get a current room service menu, at which point I just went to Devil Dawgs on Rush St. There are no napkins in the mini bar. Only sparse artwork in the halls and rooms. It just feels...sparse and under supplied. I really loved this hotel before their most recent renovation. There was a beautiful fountain in the lobby. I believe it included a sculpture of cranes. The lobby now looks generic. I know the fountain seemed dated at some point, but if only they had the courage to keep it for a few years, it'd be revered again. Overall, it was disappointing. I'd recommend the Langham or the Peninsula over the Ritz, though I've only stayed in 3 of Chicago's 5-star hotels. Maybe the others are worse.

Stayed 3 nights

My wife and I had a reservation for the club level and up graded to a suite at ck in . It was NOT an upgrade . We shared a wall with the lounge kitchen . The smells constantly filled our room AND the cleaning crew started in the lounge at 1 AM making it hard to sleep until they finished cleaning . Also the bathroom was NOT an upgrade There was only 1 sink , no separate shower only a bath tub with shower and the tub had no safety Matt For the cost of over $1000 per night this was NOT the service we expected from a 5 star hotel . The only upgrade was expanded room space .
