What guests think

At Sleep Inn, travellers repeatedly praise the exceptionally friendly, pet-welcoming staff, the walkable waterfront location, comfortable beds, and the included breakfast, while noting the lack of an elevator, compact rooms and bathrooms, and some dated or noisy features.

Cleanliness is generally good, though several reviews mention odors, stained or worn carpets, and windows that need attention. Breakfast variety earns praise, but the dining area is small and can feel crowded, and a few guests found some hot items basic. The location is handy for attractions and the riverfront, though a few guests felt the surrounding area and parking lot lighting were less reassuring after dark. Expect a pet-friendly, budget-minded stay with trade-offs in space and building features.

The Sleep Inn was a nice comfortable stay. We we stayed overnight while traveling through the area. The room was comfortable and clean. It came with a typical hotel breakfast. The hotel did not have an elevator so we needed to carry our bags upstairs. There was no dining nearby when we stayed so had to drive to find a place for dinner.

This was our least favorite hotel on our 5 day trip to the UP. This hotel does NOT have an elevator and you need to be prepared to haul your suitcases up a flight of stairs. Just an average place and I would not stay there again.

Have been coming to the Sleep Inn every summer for the past few years during our annual trip across Ontario. During our most recent visit, I had minor concerns about the cleanliness of the room (sticky remote control for TV; toilet seat looked dirty). My allergies were also quite bad overnight, possibly due to lingering pet dander. Of course, I had requested a pet-friendly room, so allergies may be unavoidable. That said, the Sleep Inn is far cleaner than any other pet friendly hotel in the area (and I’ve stayed at a few!). Other than the above issues, our stay was comfortable and uneventful. Will probably be back next year!

We rented 2 rooms. Unfortunately there was hair in the sink, something on the hair dryer, a stain on one blanket and a stain in front of the toilet in the other room and the pocket door that divides the bathroom from the room was broken and off track so therefore wouldn’t lock. The fridge also made a horrible loud buzzing noise that woke me up 3 times in the night. I tried to unplug it but I didn’t want to wake my Aunt. Also the plug in was hidden behind the “built in” that the fridge was in. I let the staff know but they said they couldn’t credit my Aunts credit card because it was booked through a 3rd party. I really hope Hotels.com can help refund some of our money.

The property is old and outdated. Most of the things are functional, of course. However, all the equipment, including the climate unit, small fridge, and shower fan, is very noisy. I turned off the climate unit and fridge for the night to avoid being woken up by noise. The breakfast included was okay, better than in Travelodge. The location is good enough, right downtown, but the parking area was not cleaned from the snow. The TV is very old and low resolution, no way to connect a mobile device for Netflix, etc. The Internet was free and fast enough, staff was friendly and helpful. For the money, it's an okay place to stay a night.

From the moment I walked in with my big black lab, Kelly made us feel welcome. She took the time to explain where the closest places were to fish, where we could find a dog-friendly patio, and making sure we had plenty of dog treats and bags. As we were leaving, she paused leaving work to make sure she asked about our stay and the fishing. The room was good, the location was easy to find, and they even had plugs for my electric car charger. What a great welcome to Canada!

The hotel itself is awesome. The staff at the front desk are wonderful. I travel on business and would not stay again as I didn’t find the parking lot safe for my vehicle. We passed many homeless in the area and given its downtown I expected that. But the lights in the lot are all burned out and the only cameras are at the front door and one on one side of the building. We arrived in the dark and parked in the dark. A couple more cameras and a well lit parking lot would make a huge difference in me wanting to use this as my regular hotel.

Clean room, but on the small side. Pillows were square, prefer normal shape and far too soft. Bathroom very tiny, probably the smallest we have ever seen in an hotel. Shower was hot and powerful. Check in/out process was fast and staff very friendly, however no one at reception upon arrival and had to wait for a few minutes before someone turned up. Biggest issue, the breakfast area far too small and many people were eating standing up, in the reception area or taking food back to their room. The staff member on first morning was too slow in replenishing food items and generally lacked role awareness, the lady on the second morning was better, although it was not as busy as the previous morning. Also, the breakfast items were mostly pre-packaged food including the boiled eggs and generally of poor quality, nothing fresh other than the bread and bagels. Hotel good for a one or at most two night stay, not any longer than that.

Location of the hotel is good, specifically for those taking the Agawa canyon train. Hotel a Allows dogs, so the dogs going for a walk in the early morning and left in the room in the evening bark and you can hear them in the not sound proofed s, you can also hear the door closing behind people in the hallway and people flushing toilets at night. The breakfast area is way too small and the hot breakfast options are some microwaved eggs and sausage best to be avoided. I would not recommend this hotel.
