The location of the Dorthy Hotel is ideal for easy access and parking. We used public transport for in town. Easy access to Hwy 1 to travel to Lake Louise, Peyto Lake and Bow Lake.

In a good position at the far end of Banff. Complementary Roam bus passes were much appreciated. The hot pools and sauna at the Canoe and Suites were great. The beds in our apartment were comfortable. The air con was noisy at night. Although we had a microwave and a fridge there was neither cutlery or bowls or plates. When we asked for some we were given some disposable items. The rooms were clean inside but our outside area was very dusty.

Our only real complaint was that they did not clean our room until late in the afternoon, which we were usually returning to the room by then. So two of the days that we were there, the room did not get clean. We just changed out towels when they came to the room. Also, we had to request coffee and cream quite a few times. There is a process to making the coffee and they give you fresh ground coffee to do so, but we had to constantly request it from the Canoe staff even though they had given us a paper to fill out for coffee.

The Dorothy is a no service motel. It is not a hotel with a hot tub. That is the affiliated Canoe Hotel a block away. It is an adequate and comfortable motel but nothing more and, for what it is, it is overpriced.
