Courtyard by Marriott Reno Downtown/Riverfront

What guests think

Across the reviews, Courtyard by Marriott Reno Downtown/Riverfront earns consistent praise for cleanliness, welcoming staff, and a convenient location, while opinions differ on certain practicalities and aspects of comfort overall.

Many travelers enjoy quiet stays, spacious layouts, and amenities such as the pool, hot tub, patio, and an on-site bistro. Recurring downsides involve paid parking and congestion during games, no complimentary breakfast or lobby coffee, sporadic housekeeping, and maintenance or noise issues like loud A/C, sofa beds, or worn linens. Several reviews also flag nearby encampments and an uneven sense of safety that can detract from river-facing rooms. Overall, expect a modern, non-casino option with strong basics and a few location and policy trade-offs.

unfortunately, Hotels did not inform us of the low clearance for the hotel parking garage. Consequently, we had to park a block away and walk in the cold and dark to reach the hotel entrance. The garage has a 6' 5" clearance and we were just one inch too tall. Be blame Hotels for this oversight.

Beautiful, peaceful property with everything we could possibly want. Spacious updated rooms with fridge, microwave, bathtub, comfortable beds and bedding. Outdoor seating to enjoy a meal or drink with a river view. Restaurant and bar onsite. The pool and hot tub are outside next to the trees but fully covered for an indoor/outdoor feel. One of the most spacious and welcoming lobbies I've seen. Parking is in the garage across the street but it was not inconvenient. I would definitely stay here again. Casinos are nearby if you want to play but stay in a quiet environment.

This Courtyard Reno has officially become my new go-to! The room was super clean, spacious, and felt fresh—not old or outdated at all. The bar and food inside were so convenient, and they even delivered our food right to us at the pool! The pool and spa were amazing—total vacation vibes. But the best part? It still felt like home thanks to the clean, comfortable space and the super friendly staff. Huge shoutout to Emma at the front desk—she was incredibly kind and helpful. I’d definitely recommend staying here and can’t wait to come back!

The hotel was nice, but parking, shared with a local baseball park, was difficult. I had to park in the general area on the first level. When trying to leave the next morning, the rude parking attendant would not let me walk to my car. He said I had to take the elevator, which started on Level 2. With my car on Level 1, I and my friend had to climb over a cement wall to get to our car with our luggage. I am 72 years old, and climbing over a wall with luggage to get to my car is ridiculous!

We arrived on a Saturday at approximately 2:30. We were told our room was not ready, which was fine. The person at the desk said they would call when my room was ready. We returned over an hour later to find the room had been ready but no one had notified us. The signage in the hotel had us wind our way through two long corridors when the room was actually very close to the elevator. The desk chair had what appeared to be cigarette holes in the chair. The room was awkwardly laid out and seemed very small. The bed faced the window but there was little room to get to the far side of the bed. The extra seating was extremely uncomfortable. Again, it wa a Saturday night, but starting around 9:45 there was loud music that lasted about 1.5 hours. The music made it impossible to sleep or even hold a quiet conversation. Even though I paid for a week, we checked out after the first night.

Do not pay extra for a river view! The encampments are so bad I had to keep my window and curtains closed for my stay. I ended up checking out early because my stay was awful. Aside from what went on outside of the hotel the room itself wasn’t comfortable, the bed was lumpy and bed sheets were very thin and scratchy and shower head didn’t work. The staff was nice but this place was not worth the money I spent.

They charge you $15 to park in the garage across the street, which is free to park in. When I asked about this, the front desk lady was extremely rude and lied about how the garage works. At no point do you need a key to get out. I had already parked in the free parking and basically got charged $15 for being honest that I had a vehicle. Stay somewhere else when you’re in Reno. This place is no good.

As a Lifetime Marriott Titanium member, I was VERY disappointed at the unsafe area around the hotel, the hot tub was not available, the staff was indifferent (almost rude) and difficult to find. The Bistro hours were very limited and there is no dining nearby. No shuttles to the airport. I spent an average of $200 per night!! Shame on Marriott for this stay.

We booked through hotel.com for Thursday-Sunday at Courtyard by Marriott in Reno, NV. We checked in Friday and had not been informed we needed to inform hotel that we would check in a day late. They cancelled our reservation that we had through hotel.com, but charged us full price through hotel.com for the Thursday-Sunday. Since we had no where to stay we had to book for the same Friday and Saturday that we had reservations for and pay for another 2 nights so we had somewhere to sleep. While hotel.con tried to accommodate Courtyard by Marriott would not budge. They made us pay for 6 nights all together even though we only stayed 2 nights. It forced us to stay only 2 of the 4 nights we wanted to stay because we couldn’t afford the double reservation. Why would they cancel our reservation but then make us pay for the same nights we already had booked? I will never use hotel.com or Marriot again.

I was excited to stay at a property in downtown Reno that wasn't a casino. Unfortunately, the location didn't feel safe for walking and the bed was not comfortable. This hotel is fairly new, I was surprised that the mattress was saggy. I don't think I will book it again.

The staff was nice enough; however, the location was not ideal. Being directly across the street from the stadium means a lot of congestion and parking problems on game days. Since hotel guests have to pay extra for parking it is frustrating to have to experience this. In addition, at least until something is done about it, there are homeless people living on the riverbanks. The patio areas of the hotel, meant for guests to sit outside and relax on, back up to these riverbanks so it feels a little unsafe. Finally, while the downtown art area doesn't appear far on a map, it is. You have to walk several blocks to get to it, which isn't always fun in the Nevada heat.

The location was convenient for walking from/to Amtrak and to/from the Pioneer Center where i enjoyed the Reno Phil concert. For me , the one thing that would improve the experience would be good strong complimentary coffee (I don't think much of in-room coffemakers)-I think that would be an appropriate amenity for the cost of the stay. The bistro food and service was high priced, but decent.

The location is average in terms of proximity to casinos - it makes for a quick uber/lyft ride. Make sure to verify the room you're booking - the pictures may not be accurate to what you want. We were in a 'large suite' that had a King and a sofa bed. The sofa bed is awful unless you have little children. The pillows were worn down. There is no complimentary coffee, and during my stay, there was no complimentary breakfast. The rooms aren't awful or bad, just ok, and the staff was like that too.
