The hotel is definitely a 5 star resort. The grounds are very tropical with fish in several ponds and birds chirping. The restaurants by the ocean are great, and the food was very good as well. Had salmon and shrimp tostada on two occasions. The room with the balcony and hot tub was nice. Great view from the room. Staff is super friendly and helpful. The gym is very good, and the spa is very tranquil with skilled massage therapists. Security is tight with guards checking all incoming vehicles. The only 2 drawbacks was my room was further towards the back of the property and you could hear road noise from time to time. Also, there are no chairs directly on the beach for this hotel. You either had to sit by the pool chairs that have chairs facing the beach or you have to walk down about a quarter mile to rent a chair for 100 bhat which was fine. Lastly some of the beach had some plastic bottles and such on and off the paths, and the flags were always up and red which prevented swimming. I took a cab further down to kata, and Karon beach further down to swim. All in all a great stay about 10 minutes by cab down to Bangla if you wanted the night life and about an hour to the airport.

Huge buffet with heaps of variety including GF options, lots of pools with great views of the beach, plus multiple water slides and a river float, spacious rooms with daily housekeeping, great gym and friendly and helpful staff. Also short walk along the beach to Karon town centre and quick taxi ride to Patong. All in all a really great family stay. Only area of improvement would be the kids club. Staff were very friendly but the amenities could do with an upgrade as there isn’t much for the kids to do.

We had a lovely stay! We chose the room with an inside pool and we spent hours just relaxing, observing the natural surrounding. Room service was superb! Fast, and with delicious options. All the staff was friendly. The breakfast buffette had so many options! It was great and food was tasty. The night before we departed we went to the spa for an aromatheraphy massage. It was simply heavenly. The masseuse were skillful, the whole ambience was magnificent. We had complimentary sauna as well. Very well equipped. I would stay here again if I have a chance to come back to Phuket.

A good 4 star hotel that is on the outdated. Nice beach and safe option. Fun pools for children. Beach club had good food. Nice bar tender and dining stuff. Front desk was okay. They made us feel pressured to leave at 10:30AM to get our bags when our check out time is 11:00. I said 10:50, they said 10:30. If the check out time is 10:30 when you want us out of the hotel please adjust your check out stance. Once we agreed to 10:30 am baggage pick up came 10:25 am… this is our vacation please don’t pressure us to exit the property. Otherwise everything else was good. A great beach and pool made it worth it. Thank you

Great hotel with amazing service. We had the private pool room and it was very nice. The spa is nicely designed and the spa treatments were also great. The bed was a bit too hard for our liking and we did have some stomach issues after one of the hotel buffets, but besides that everything was good.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the hotel and found the location to be excellent. Staff were friendly and attentive, and the rooms were cleaned daily to a good standard. Strong supervision around the pools, which made it feel safe for children. There were a few areas that could be improved. Some pool tiles were extremely rough, and unfortunately, all of us ended up with grazes at some point. While not serious, it could be easily addressed. Breakfast was a highlight, with a large and varied buffet offering everything from fresh pastries to hearty curries—something for everyone. The beach area directly in front of the hotel needs attention. There was a noticeable amount of plastic and sea waste washed ashore, which sadly isn’t being cleared by any of the seafront properties. A coordinated effort to clean and recycle this waste would make a big difference. The path down to the beach was also problematic, with poor lighting and a broken surface. Walking along the beach itself was a better option, provided you have sandals. The sand was golden and soft, which made for pleasant walks. It’s important to note that during monsoon season, the sea is unsafe for swimming due to strong rip tides. Tragically, there have been two recent fatalities, so this is something to be very mindful of if you're planning to swim. Lastly, a tip for getting around—download the Bolt app. It’s an incredibly efficient taxi service, operating just like Uber, and made local travel very easy.

Room doors do not have a barrier at the bottom to seal the doorway so bugs and lizards would get in. Also, Beach had a lot of crude oil balls wash up on the beach and cause feet and shoes to get dirty. No warning sign

Picked this hotel becoz of the large pool and lazy river. I did read about the previous feedback from other visitors that the hotel is old so didn’t expect it like the hotel photos. However, it is much worse than expected, old is fine but lack of maintenance and cleaning. You can see damages everywhere without fixing, dirty furnitures with bird poo and stains, pools full of leaves but no one ever cleaned. Our room was dirty also, stains all over the bathroom and jacuzzi that we didn’t even use in the end. However, staffs are nice and helpful.

Photos online are deceiving and the actual property is really rundown. The property is rundown and poorly maintained. Some facilities in the public area are out of order and they just wrapped a plastic band around it. The rooms are dirty, from rustic taps to grayish towels to broken closet etc.

Staff were friendly & always helpful. Place in need of renovation (eg. Bathtub side split open, wood split in panels in bedroom). Pool guy checking PH level and cleaning plunge pool daily. Main pool beautiful & overlooking beach & only a few meters away. They should at least clean shore daily. Has heaps of washed up rubbish. Quite far from any decent restaurant outside the resort. So was stuck eating same food pretty much everyday. Decent fare to pay to go to Patong to eat or shop - 400Baht. Not much difference if going to nearby town of Karon - 350Baht. No roomy air conditioned lounge to wait after checkout. Has a small souvenir shop but rarely open.

The property was beautiful the room was fantastic. Loved the breakfast. Staff was very kind and accommodating. Only thing I had an issue with was with all of the garbage on the beach. It was terrible. So much debris. Someone needs to be out there cleaning that daily. Property is too beautiful to have a beach that full of trash.

On two occasions two different family members got violently ill after consuming meals at the Property we noticed upon our first night that there were little bugs in the bed numerous and insect wings by the dozen on our pillows the sinks had grime on them clearly hadn’t been washed the laundry service was horrendously expensive over NZ$200 for a load The pool is very jagged with the plastering cutting guests feet and bodies when contacting the sides and the bottom food was average. Conflict management and Customer Service to resolve any short fall yet to be desired. The place is dated and birds were allowed to eat donuts and other buffet food at will. We got upgraded to a Personal villa which goes for about $2500 a night and we still left dissatisfied.

Had a nice stay at Centara. The room we had was very nice with an amazing view of the ocean. Grounds were absolutely beautiful. Loved the beds, so comfortable. Food was a bit pricey but good. Service at poolside restaurant was slow but room service was very quick. The resort is rather large and a bit of a hike to get anywhere. Be prepared to walk a bit. Overall, a good place but just not what I thought it was going to be.

I took a cab further down to kata, and Karon beach further down to swim. All in all a great stay about 10 minutes by cab down to Bangla if you wanted the night life and about an hour to the airport.
The hotel is definitely a 5 star resort. The grounds are very tropical with fish in several ponds and birds chirping. The restaurants by the ocean are great, and the food was very good as well. Had salmon and shrimp tostada on two occasions. The room with the balcony and hot tub was nice. Great view from the room. Staff is super friendly and helpful. The gym is very good, and the spa is very tranquil with skilled massage therapists. Security is tight with guards checking all incoming vehicles. The only 2 drawbacks was my room was further towards the back of the property and you could hear road noise from time to time. Also, there are no chairs directly on the beach for this hotel. You either had to sit by the pool chairs that have chairs facing the beach or you have to walk down about a quarter mile to rent a chair for 100 bhat which was fine. Lastly some of the beach had some plastic bottles and such on and off the paths, and the flags were always up and red which prevented swimming. I took a cab further down to kata, and Karon beach further down to swim. All in all a great stay about 10 minutes by cab down to Bangla if you wanted the night life and about an hour to the airport.

Huge buffet with heaps of variety including GF options, lots of pools with great views of the beach, plus multiple water slides and a river float, spacious rooms with daily housekeeping, great gym and friendly and helpful staff. Also short walk along the beach to Karon town centre and quick taxi ride to Patong. All in all a really great family stay. Only area of improvement would be the kids club. Staff were very friendly but the amenities could do with an upgrade as there isn’t much for the kids to do.

Great pool area. Nice big rooms. The sea view with pool suite had a very limited view (we could have had a higher floor room as the hotel wasn’t busy!) Also it is advertised as a private pool but it wasn’t ‘private’ but overlooked from 3 sides - this needs to be made clearer in the room description. Finally the lighting in the room was very weak.

We've been lucky enough to have stayed at 5 other "5 Star Resorts" in Thailand and while Centara was a nice resort, at the price it is not in the same leagues as other resorts. Some examples which could have been improved, as we booked a Premier Suite, with Private Pool: - Booking a Pool Villa, yet not having any Pool Towels (arriving late after the pool area was closed, we could not get towels until the next day) - Suite Outdoor Area was very dirty and had not been cleaned properly for quite some time. (Large amounts of Bird droppings, dust, dirt outside, with quite a bit of mould build up on the pool we spilt some water on the floor inside and used a while towel to mop it up, the towel was brown after using) - No insect repellent for room or outside Suite area (There was no provisioning for any insect repellent, we had to purchase our own or not sit outside after dusk) - No Milk or creamer in the room (Coffee making facility in room, but no milk or creamer supplied) - No Takeaway Coffee facilities. (Only morning Coffee was available at the buffet and the takeaway cup was ridiculously small, coffee was very ordinary) - No shuttle to Karon city (While only a 10-15min walk, having an hourly or 2 x hourly shuttle would have been beneficial) Again, all in all, a nice resort - just not at the same standards of other 5 Star Resorts we've stayed at in Thailand previously.

Great hotel with amazing service. We had the private pool room and it was very nice. The spa is nicely designed and the spa treatments were also great. The bed was a bit too hard for our liking and we did have some stomach issues after one of the hotel buffets, but besides that everything was good.

The property is far from being a 5 stars hotel. The breakfast buffet is below average, and facilities there are fit for mass tourism and never felt any luxury feeling. The only positive aspect is the size of the room and the balcony which felt like a consolation for the high rate you pay.

Room was not available at checkin and no notification sent once it was. Linens and towels in room were dirty. Cleaning service just made the bed but floor was still dirty and dishes not removed. Flickering light in room reported but not fixed. Food at lunch restaurant was overcooked and seevice was terrible. Food at breakfast buffet was stale. Refund for 4 days of breakfast charges are still pending refund. When checking out, late checkout was approved but key card for room stopped working. Bellman never showed up to bring down our bags and had to bring them down ourselves. We even looked at neighboring properties to move however with a last minute change didn't have many options. Overall, don't recommend

Had a nice stay at Centara. The room we had was very nice with an amazing view of the ocean. Grounds were absolutely beautiful. Loved the beds, so comfortable. Food was a bit pricey but good. Service at poolside restaurant was slow but room service was very quick. The resort is rather large and a bit of a hike to get anywhere. Be prepared to walk a bit. Overall, a good place but just not what I thought it was going to be.

Likes: Breakfast is great, Slides and water/lazy river our son loved. There are some lovely competent staff that work there. Dislikes: on the older side of resorts, Food and drink is crazy expensive price taxes. Not really walking distance to anything interesting. Some of the staff are not at the required level of competency to do their job correctly.

The resort is on a beautiful property, the beach is great and you can walk down it to the town a km away. The buildings themselves are dated and need a touch up. The service is bad. Our room wasn't ready for the 3 pm check in. Cleaners only came by our special request once in 4 nights. We had 3 guests they took all our towels and left us with 2. We had no hot water for 2 days, they apologized with 6 chocolates, hardly compensation for a delayed check in and no hot water for 2 days. Then we found at dinner time there wasn't enough hot water to go around. Also it rained and they didn't have enough umbrellas for everyone. They also don't allow outside food or drink at the beach or pool but charge a fortune for their drinks, that is if you can find the bartender. They add 17% in fees onto food and drinks so in the end a cocktail will cost more than double at times triple outside the resort. I have stayed in 8 hotels in SouthEast Asia and this was by far the most expensive and by far the worst service. We did find out that room cleaning does come, it comes in the evening when your in the room. I guess we were just not patient enough.

My wife and i have never had such a delightful and pleasant experience as we did staying at centara grand beach resort. The staff was amazing, helpful, polite, punctual and attentive. We personally would like to thank Game (from the wait staff), Spy, Ern, and Dada (from the Spa staff, and Mey and Dia (from housekeeping). They all made the stay unforgettable.

I’m sorry to say that staff were quite rude around the pool area! When we arrived at 2.30pm we had to wait around for our room and after such a long 15 hour flight all you need is to get to your room. On a fab note we were upgraded for this and we were very happy😀 but the mal staff around the pool area were unhelpful

This was our second time staying at this hotel, and we'll stay there again the next time we visit Phuket. We stayed for a week for a family vacation. Our kids (aged 9 and 7) love the lazy river, rock jump, and water slides. The beach is beautiful, with waves that are fun/strong but not dangerous. The breakfast buffet is excellent, but we generally ate offsite for other meals. The gym is well equipped and was never crowded. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The location is excellent. It's close enough to Patong Beach that we went there almost every night for restaurants and festivities, but it's removed enough that the beach is secluded and away from the tourist hordes. It costs 400 Baht for a hotel taxi to Patong Beach, and you can negotiate a Tuk-Tuk ride back for 300 Baht or less (for a family of four). This is a great option for families looking for the comfort of an all-inclusive resort, while being close to the craziness of Patong Beach and Bangla Road.

The Centara Grand Beach Resort Phuket is a nice Resort. However, we didn't have much time to really enjoy the property. We spent 2 out of the 4 days we stayed there on full day excursions. One was Scuba Diving and one was a full day excursion to Maya Bay and the Phi Phi Islands. We stayed in a Premium Room with our own Plunge Pool the view from our Pool and balcony was exceptional. The Beach was above average, and they have a small water Park set in a Jungle like atmosphere which was really cool. The staff were very friendly and respectful. I only have 2 minor complaints, the first being there was only one elevator in Building 1 to go to the 3rd floor where our room was located our room was in building 2. So, we ended up hiking up multiple flights of stairs to get to our room. The resort is also located quite a way from the main part of Karon Beach so not much in the way of nearby restaurants except those at the Resort. The food at the Resort Restaurants was rather good. We ate at the Coast Bistro, The Cove and Ripples. Thank you Grand Centara Staff I would stay there again.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the hotel and found the location to be excellent. Staff were friendly and attentive, and the rooms were cleaned daily to a good standard. Strong supervision around the pools, which made it feel safe for children. There were a few areas that could be improved. Some pool tiles were extremely rough, and unfortunately, all of us ended up with grazes at some point. While not serious, it could be easily addressed. Breakfast was a highlight, with a large and varied buffet offering everything from fresh pastries to hearty curries—something for everyone. The beach area directly in front of the hotel needs attention. There was a noticeable amount of plastic and sea waste washed ashore, which sadly isn’t being cleared by any of the seafront properties. A coordinated effort to clean and recycle this waste would make a big difference. The path down to the beach was also problematic, with poor lighting and a broken surface. Walking along the beach itself was a better option, provided you have sandals. The sand was golden and soft, which made for pleasant walks. It’s important to note that during monsoon season, the sea is unsafe for swimming due to strong rip tides. Tragically, there have been two recent fatalities, so this is something to be very mindful of if you're planning to swim. Lastly, a tip for getting around—download the Bolt app. It’s an incredibly efficient taxi service, operating just like Uber, and made local travel very easy.

The hotel was lovely and the staff were great. Fantastic room, great balcony and excellent pool. Karon itself wasnt as nice as we were led to believe originally, quite small and not much option for bars etc plus not walkable from the hotel as taxis needed each way. Overall a lovely stay.

Huge buffet with heaps of variety including GF options, lots of pools with great views of the beach, plus multiple water slides and a river float, spacious rooms with daily housekeeping, great gym and friendly and helpful staff. Also short walk along the beach to Karon town centre and quick taxi ride to Patong. All in all a really great family stay. Only area of improvement would be the kids club. Staff were very friendly but the amenities could do with an upgrade as there isn’t much for the kids to do.

The property was beautiful, awesome pool, lazy river and beautiful beach right by the resort. The problem is that it’s VERY VERY expensive for everything!! The food, the drinks by the bar absolutely a rip off for being Thailand. They charged 1,200 baht just for service charge because we asked for a bucket of beer. Best to go to the local store to purchase drinks.

Likes: Breakfast is great, Slides and water/lazy river our son loved. There are some lovely competent staff that work there. Dislikes: on the older side of resorts, Food and drink is crazy expensive price taxes. Not really walking distance to anything interesting. Some of the staff are not at the required level of competency to do their job correctly.

Great hotel with amazing service. We had the private pool room and it was very nice. The spa is nicely designed and the spa treatments were also great. The bed was a bit too hard for our liking and we did have some stomach issues after one of the hotel buffets, but besides that everything was good.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the hotel and found the location to be excellent. Staff were friendly and attentive, and the rooms were cleaned daily to a good standard. Strong supervision around the pools, which made it feel safe for children. There were a few areas that could be improved. Some pool tiles were extremely rough, and unfortunately, all of us ended up with grazes at some point. While not serious, it could be easily addressed. They failed on both occasions to provide airport pickup and drop off. When asked if we can get picked up, they responded we look forward to seeing you. So, of course nobody picked us up. The day before our departure from the hotel, we asked the front desk in person if they could have a taxi ready at 6am the next day for drop off at the airport. Of course they did not call for a taxi.

Beautiful property with a serene vibe. The amenities are great. The beach access is definitely the USP since the beach is pretty much private, super calm and very beautiful with crystal clear waters. One recommendation to add beach umbrellas and massage people there. Since that’s the reason most people visit Thailand and it would really help increase the flow of customers. But overall amazing

The hotel did not have umbrellas or chairs you could rent for the beach. It was a great looking resort but it lacked in something. When we needed to checkout there was no one at the front so they had to email me a final payment amount. They did decorate for our honeymoon but it was not done before getting us in our room. So we had to wait outside our door for them to complete it but that was just really sweet of them. All in all it was a good stay.
