Extended Stay America Suites - Boston - Waltham - 32 4th Ave

Run down, under-staffed facility. We had several minor issues with the room and room keys… which is especially problematic when they don’t have the staff to address issues. Most of the dryers in the laundry facility weren’t working well. One of them destroyed several pieces of our clothing. Super loud neighbors, especially on our first night. “Breakfast” is snack bars and packaged muffins. Swimming pool is cemented over. Two-star hotel is a stretch for this facility.

It was dirty and they didn’t clean the garbage before hand from our room and when we asked about it they never cleaned it on our whole stay! The knob in the shower was broken and the machines in the gym did not work as well.

The location was good, the parking was free, the room was spacious and clean. The bed felt like sleeping on a cot, the lobby was a wreck, the free breakfast was a joke.

Very Basic hotel. No amenities. No ice machine. Bathroom door wouldn't stay closed.

Breakfast is a joke. Does not even qualify as a snack. Check in was a nightmare; delays due to incompetence and broken equipment. The place is under renovation, so it is dusty, dirty and almost unsafe. The vending machine did not release my product, and the front desk would not take responsibility. Overall... never to stay there again!!!

The hotel is quiet, and felt safe. However, in certain areas the rug had an unpleasant odor. It is not a really clean hotel. I was very uncomfortable sleeping because my pillows were extremly flat. No extra pillows available. The vending machine hardly works if u need drinking water. Had to consistently get the room card rekeyed. Hotel staff didnt seem too pleasant and friendly. There is nothing to really do at the hotel, Only Gym available.

We were not offered bedding or pillows for sofa bed, despite checking in with 4 people. Hotel did not have an ice machine. Breakfast was coffee and muffins (no fruit or oatmeal) and we had to wait for it.

I didn't realize that I had high expectations for dirt cheap hotels. There was trash in the hallway and trash by the rear entrance - Trash, not litter: a full trash bag that had ripped open. There was bare electrical wiring coming out from under the AC in the room. The stovetop was a rusty mess. The vending machine was broken; the staff member that I mentioned this to didn't care. This morning, I drove around front to check out and the public entrance to the lobby was locked.

2 negatives come to mind: 1) There is no ice machine. I was told to make my own ice in the room fridge or freezer, which means that I have to wait overnight to have a cold beverage. 2) The breakfast which is advertised, should not even be called that. On our first day, there were oatmeal packets (no spoons to eat it with), muffins, granola bars and coffee. On the 2nd day, it was coffee and granola bars. In my opinion, this should not be called a breakfast !! On both days, I stopped and checked on offerings early in the morning and 1.5 hours later, with no difference in what was available.

They charge $100 deposit. You have to go to the desk and sign out ANY kitchen supplies, like coffee cups, plates, utensils, pans, etc. The room had a dirty towel on the bathroom door hook. And there were false eyelashes on the bathroom floor, so not thoroughly cleaned. The "fitted" sheet continually slipped out at the head and at the foot of the bed. The desk was broken at the drawer support. The "free breakfast" was coffee, plastic wrapped muffins, and Nutrigrain bars. Not my favorite hotel

The smell in the room was disgusting, there were stains all over the carpet and couch, and the shower did not drain properly.

This place was very dirty, in the hallways, the elevator, and our room. Mold in sink, stained chair, very dirty and broken cabinets, fridge dirty smears all over handles, rusty microwave, and more. Never able to reach the manager despite multiple attempts, going into the facility and through phone calls. Told I would get a call back and they never called me

This was the worst place I’ve ever stayed in my life. First room wasn’t clean, I went to the front desk where they admitted they only clean rooms every two weeks!!!! We moved to another room only for it to smell like old cigarette smoke, have dirty towels still in the shower, thick nail clippings in filter of ac unit, used tissues on floor. The couch was disgusting, supposed to sleep two, I wouldn’t put my enemy to sleep on that couch. We were only given one night stay back even though I asked to cancel my stay early the second day. Front desk staff doesn’t tell you anything about refunds only the manager who comes in at 3p can help which means they’ll charge you another day while you wait to talk to them. Police presence in parking lot all the time. If I could give 0 stars I would. I’ve sent two emails regarding a refund and have not heard back yet. My 9 year old said he’d rather sleep in the car than stay in there. Do not stay here !!!!!

No breakfast, no coffee either day of our 2 night stay. No hot water on day 2 in the shower. Huge hole in wall behind the door. Reported the hole to the front desk as soon as we walked into the room. They didn’t seem to care. Lobby smelled like smoke. Room was clean.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed at! The shower had been used before we got there as it was still wet, there was a hole punched through the dry wall, the pull out sofa was stained brown and yellow, there were bugs in the bathroom, no hot water from the shower or sink, no complimentary breakfast like advertised and I was woken up at 1am to discover BED BUGS CRAWLING ON ME. I paid $120 for the night and I won't wish a stay here on my worst enemy. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!

The first room was so bad with broken furniture and dirty that we asked for another room. The second room wasn’t better because the shower curtain had mold at the bottom. The hallway was dirty with pieces of paper and a bottle cap and it smelled like old food. The only reason I endured it is because I had an early morning and didn’t have the time to look for another hotel.

Absolutely filthy! See pictures regarding carpet, couch, bedding, tables, dishwasher, tv, black mold and more. Washers/dryers gross and over priced. Booked through Expedia and they were helpful in trying to make things right. Extended Stay, nope! No help, no discount/refund/nothing. Tried to find another hotel the last night after seeing a mouse run across the hall right in front of me but couldn’t. Not sure where the staff was for extended periods of time but to end on a good note, one young lady at the front desk provided excellent customer swrvice and was apologetic, sincere and sweet.

The beds were quite uncomfortable. The room had a few broken features including the toilet seat, outlet and light switch covers, broken drawer. We did ask for additional sheets for the pull out bed which arrived right away and that was helpful.

Bed was fine but carpet was badly stained, couch had holes in the leather, walls had stains. No way was I going barefoot anywhere in the room. Won't return unless desperate.

Reasonable pricing comfortable beds. Fridge and stove are convenient for longer stays.

Many people hanging around outside smoking at 10:00pm. Wifi didn't work, loud people in rooms. Will find another hotel in the area next time I need to stay in the area.

Stayed overnight on a work trip, although I don’t live too far away, but there was snow in the forecast. Had never stayed at a hotel quite like this. The room was clean, comfortable, and very quiet. There was a stale odor in the hallways and in the room, but I got used to it. For the price and location, I’d stay again. Definitely ideal for extended stays with a galley kitchen and sitting area.

The receptionist in the lobby gets 10/10. I didn’t catch his name but he was so kind and friendly. The property itself needs A LOT of work. We made it to our room and the sofa bed had no mattress. The receptionist found that odd and said he would get me one. He brought it up and honestly it looked like it was fished out of a dumpster. He offered an adjacent room but admitted it smelled kinda weird in there. The room we stayed in had a minimum of 6 holes that had been spackled over. Those holes were never painted over. The restroom toilet paper holder had only one arm installed and it was broken. The rest of it was gone. The vanity had a drawer face but that was also damaged. The closet space had tracks for a door but there was not one. Additionally, there was no rod to hang anything. We used the bath mat by the shower and the towel turned dark from the dirty floor. When we went to use the shower the liner had mold on it. There was also a weird sticker residue on the headboard. I did not continue my stay at this property. I will also never recommend it.

It was fine but there was alot of noise at night at hard to sleep

The room was shocking to me. All The walls had who knows what on them, the couch looks like a cat clawed at it for days, the kitchen had burnt countertops, the tv stand had water damage and missing doors. It looked like I was in an abandoned room. The faucet handle was missing, kinda needed a wrench to turn on. It also was not able to turn to warmer water. The floors were missing tile, doors had bad patch work from hold on it. Again, food, body fluids, pop or whatever was ALL over the walls. If I hadn’t paid for it already I would’ve left. The only good thing and reason we stayed was no bed bugs. The maid did all she could do for regular cleaning and i appreciate that. The drapes were also falling down. I was not touching them. I will never stay at this place or other extended stay again. We were visiting our exchange student at Bentley and my son had to stay in his dorm due to the nastiness of the couch.

The hotel was run down and filthy. When we checked into our room the dirty towels from the previous customer were in a pile in the closet, the room had a bad smell, the trashcan was completely full of trash, and the pull out couch had no mattress.

This hotel confirmed a booking for me to stay with them. When i called to confim my reservation upon arrival in Boston they told me that all the rooms were filled and I was out of luck.

Terrible check in 44 minutes even though pre booked and prepaid. Would not recommend this place.

We weren’t able to check in, there wasn’t even a person working at the front desk… They had someone running between the two properties to work the front desk, because the other employee called in.

I called property at 4pm to relay the messages i got from my flight that they have been delayed. I kept trying to repeat that the flight is going to be much later than 9:30- landing in Boston - so that means a late check in for my room. the front desk clerk assured me i would be ok. my flights were 3 1/2 hours delayed. i get there and my room was canceled. Front desk was NO help- gave me a card knowing that NO ONE would answer. What’s the point of calling you- if you know i paid and called and you said you would note it- and I’m left stranded

We were unable to stay in the hotel. When we arrived for check in, the hotel informed us that while there were currently two rooms open, they were not available as their housekeeper had called out sick and the rooms were not clean. While the hotel did offer a refund, it has not yet been issued. We were traveling for business and thus checked in later. We scrambled running around to the other hotels in the area that were all booked, eventually having to drive 45 minutes out of town to find a hotel with an available room at a higher price than we were expecting.

In all of my experiences with travelling, this hotel was by far the worst one I have ever come across. I booked the room with my family one week in advance before driving the five hour distance. When we went to check in, we were immediately greeted with the receptionist saying "I am not checking you in." We laughed it off, thinking he was joking and we explained we already had a reservation, so the man whose name began with an "F" looked in the computer and said he did not have a reservation under the name we booked. We spelled out the name in case there was a mistake and explained we had the confirmation number to secure our booking and that is when he changed his story and he said "ah yes, I have your reservation here, I see the name now, but I do not have a room for you." Basically, he gave our room away since we checked in the evening and blamed Expedia saying they gave a room away they didn't have! The guy's attitude was very insincere and he was not sorry at all, as he blamed Expedia for the entire accident when there were still fifteen rooms left when we booked. As we were walking in, there was garbage littering the outside of the hotel (wrappers, bottles,cigarettes, etc.) and the inside floor was not clean at all. Very disappointed with the customer service and would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

I showed up at 1am to check in and no one was at the front desk. I waited for over 30 minutes and still no one. I couldn’t check in. I ended up sleeping in my car in the cold in the parking lot. When I went in in the morning to ask for a refund, still no one was there. There was even a guy that locked his key card in his room and couldn’t get back in. Abysmal at best.

What I loved most about my stay at Extended was the professionalism and hospitality displayed by a staff member at the front desk named Rosey. Rosey went above and beyond to make sure that I was comfortable. Her genuineness and willingness to help everyone was very impressive. She was working all by herself, but had no problem multi tasking to suit the needs of everyone coming into the hotel. It was an absolute pleasure, thanks to Rose!!

Spent a week there during November, and had an incredible experience. The room was the perfect size for my husband and I, even with a king sized bed in it. We were able to make small meals for ourselves during the week, and bring back leftovers. Really felt like a home away from home, and we enjoyed it thoroughly. The staff went above and beyond to assist us, as on our last day, after we checked out, our car battery died and it wouldn't start. The woman from the front called someone to assist us, and then she went out and brought her own car around to give us a jump. She saved us a lot of time, and it was just an example of their great service.

We showed up to Extended Stay, paid for our room, and went upstairs to our room. There was someone already in the room when we got up there. We went back downstairs and the front desk worker said he was not surprised, this had happened to him before, he had no available rooms, he could not refund us the money, and we should call Expedia to get the refund. When Expedia called this branch to confirm, they were told we stayed in the room. We never entered a room. In calling for a location manager, the front desk would not give manager information and hung up. Do not visit this location, it is not worth the hassle and you might end up charged for a room in which you did not stay.

30 to 45 minute drive to Cambridge at a fraction of of the price. Great stay! Thank you!

Closeness to Cambridge and other towns in and around Boston

Staff very helpful and accommodating. Easy access to xway. Plenty of shopping and dining in area or buy some groceries and cook in kitchen, where it kinda feels like its your little studio apartment

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in April. We found the hotel to be very comfortable. We liked having the large space with a couch, coffee table and a kitchen with a full fridge. There were plenty of families staying in the hotel and you could smell their cooking in the hallways - this was understandable and not a problem at all as the odors did not enter our suite. The others staying there were very friendly - as were the people at the front desk. And even with the kids staying in the hotel, the place was quiet. I have read about bugs in the rooms but we did not see any in, or outside of our room during the 3 days that we were there. Our room was clean but we did see some room for improvement with the cleaning of the hallways. There isn't anything around so you'll have to drive to get to shopping etc. The freeway is very close to the hotel so taking it to get into Boston is convenient. The breakfast was very basic but this is likely due to there being full kitchens in the rooms. The room was economical considering everything you get.

I needed an inexpensive place to lay my head for the night. This place offered that, but nothing more. It was supposed to have breakfast, but there was no coffee in the morning, and the only food was packets of instant oatmeal, with no spoons. It’s also supposed to be non-smoking but the place smelled like smoke anyway. If you don’t expect much, you won’t be disappointed.

The furnishings (cabinets and doors) were all broken. The “free breakfast” was not breakfast. It was an empty coffee urn on a counter covered in sugar. No milk or creamer. The “breakfast” offerings were oatmeal packages and nutri grain bars. This is a “grab and go” not free breakfast. Very disappointing.

The breakfast was not really there, one day only instant decaf with no sugar and two packets of creamers. I asked if it could be restocked but evidently not. The 2nd day only regular coffee and no cream or sugar I waited at the counter for 10 minutes, no one showed up. Everything else was satisfactory for the price

The rate included a breakfast 6.30 to 9 30. At 8 30 AM there was no breakfast, no coffee, no muffins nothing. I am entitled to refund for my missed breakfast

Breakfast was not healthy and I would say more of a snack than a breakfast

"Breakfast included" is not accurate. Listed as served until 0930, but at 0840 there was no coffee ("We're sending someone to get more.") and only enough hot water for 1 cup of instant oatmeal (apparently the entire food portion of the "breakfast"). Room smelled heavily of disinfectant. Got used to it after a while, but it was very noticable upon returning to the room. Refrigerator, plumbing, and AC all worked as intended.
