What guests think

Across recent reviews, Comfort Inn & Suites Cookeville earns frequent praise for friendly staff, generally clean, quiet rooms, and a convenient location just off I-40 near restaurants, offering solid value for overnight stops and short stays.

However, many note the property is older or under renovation, with maintenance issues like broken or short blackout curtains, musty odors, worn fixtures, and occasional plumbing or AC problems. Feedback on breakfast is mixed—some found it tasty and well kept, while others reported limited variety, poor coffee, or items running out—and the indoor pool is frequently closed or too cold or unclean. Housekeeping consistency varies, and a few guests mentioned hallway noise, tight parking, or delays at the desk. Expect a budget-friendly, convenient stay with helpful staff and some rough edges.

The elevators were broken upon arrival. No one was at the desk for checkout. I waited for 20 minutes and never saw anyone. Minimal selection for vending. Bathroom had rusted parts in the sink and shower. The doors and walls had visible damage that made the hotel look dated and old.

Quick overnight stay in an oversized room for a solo traveler. I was kindly alerted that the elevator was temporarily out of order but I stuck with the second floor. I only had an overnight bag. Breakfast was barer than I expected. Out of meat protein when I arrived. Opted for a stop at Buccees down the road. On the plus, my room was immaculate. I'd give this place another shot.

We didn’t end up staying the whole stay. The pool was not clean and was very cold. You’re not allowed guests in the pool but that wasn’t a HUGE deal. The room was clean but we did find hair (looked like animal hair) around the room/bathroom. Front desk staff was not very friendly in any encounter.

Overall a decent hotel for the price. Room was clean and comfortable. The shower had an odd way to turn on (pull down a piece on the bath nozzle), a sign or note would be helpful. Parking was a bit tight and the continental breakfast was somewhat limited. They also had one breakfast attendant working between two hotels on the property so it was hard for her to keep up with restocking.

After waiting about 10 minutes at the reception desk, I had to go find someone. We were about 30 minutes early and wasn’t able to check in. The food at breakfast ran out and the person who was in charge of the food, was trying to fix an elevator. Pool wasn’t opened as stated on line. Room was clean.

Rooms are generally comfortable and quiet, with some spacious layouts, but the property feels dated and several guests noted noise from halls or nearby traffic, thin walls, small 'suites,' or light intrusion from short blackout curtains.

The hotel location and access are very good. Our room was very quiet and the staff were excellent in accommodating our request. The bed mattress was also fine. We appreciate the hotel NOT allowing any pets and do not use any facility that allows pets. Otherwise the room was rather small for an advertised "Suite".

It was so noisy on the first floor. It seemed like there were people cleaning all night long and loud trucks driving by my window. I could not get any sleep. I did finally complain to the front desk after midnight and they stopped cleaning - but it was not a restful sleep. Located in a family friendly area and I did feel safe! Over all review- don’t stay on the first floor.

The bed tilted downhill. I had to sleep at the bottom of the bed to sleep comfortably. The door to the bathroom is water damaged and peeling at the bottom. Theres a tile missing from the wall going into the closet. Very dimly lit. Especially in the bathroom. Reading lights beside the bed were dim as well. I think this must have been a handicap room. The front desk person was wonderful. Just not a very pleasant experience. Worst Comfort Inn weve ever stayed in.

Clean hotel, very friendly staff! I was even impressed by the water pressure in my shower... felt great! The only "knock" is that the walls are thin, so every door slam and people (kids) running in the halls made for a loud couple of evening hours, which is more of an issue with the guests, not the hotel itself . Other than that, fine stay. The free breakfast each morning was good, though the Sunday morning breakfast had no breakfast meat (no bacon, no sausage, etc.). But again, it's free... so you get what you pay for!

I wanted to use the refrigerator last night. It was unplugged and a pool of water was left standing in the freezer. Once entering our room in 102 it did not have a clean smell. As we went to check out in the morning, there was another guest waiting before me to check out but no one was available. We waited several minutes and no one came. I tried to inform a couple of housekeepers in the hallway, but they did not understand what i was saying and did not go ask for assistance in addressing my need. This made us late on arriving at a meeting this morning.

I booked here for indoor pool, as I'm from Florida, & was told at checkin that it was out of order. My key card didn't work on outside doors. The room fone didn't work, even to call the front desk. The heater thermostat wasn't working, so we had to keep turning it on & off to regulate room temperature, and again, FLORIDEAN. Toiletries were sparse even when I went to front desk to get more. Upon hearing this the manager K. literally did nothing when she heard about the above. And this is after I went up to the front desk with no one there for 15 minutes, and went behind the desk to find a pen and paper to leave them a note. and they had to call my cell because, again. room fone didn’t work. Because of the issues and hotels COMPLETE LACK OF INTEREST IN CORRECTING SITUATION, i asked to check out early, and for a refund, and again, Rude Manager K refused to assist, since I "booked with a third party ". And when I asked her if she was seriously bad nouthing Hotels.com, she said yes. I told her I would report her comments to the site. and she said, "go ahead ". Stay away from this property and its sister property next door. Terrible place and people.

Room was adequate but had a well worn institutional feel and look especially the bathroom. Breakfast buffet was bad: terrible coffee, a bit of cereal, no bread for toast, not even a selection of packaged oatmeal, hardly anything offered.
