What guests think
At Shelton Airport Hotel, guests consistently praise the friendly, helpful staff and the convenient location near Istanbul Airport, making it a practical choice for short layovers despite mixed cleanliness feedback and limited on-site dining.
Several reviews note there is no free airport shuttle, with reliance on taxis or paid transfers and occasional pricing disputes. Rooms range from clean and comfortable to noisy or poorly maintained in spots, with reports of weak soundproofing, broken fixtures, and nonworking air conditioning. The surroundings are industrial and far from central sights, suiting quick airport stops more than longer city visits. Overall, expect a basic, budget-minded stay close to IST with great service but inconsistent standards.

I guess,it's good for the price, but they have no shuttle there. You either order a transfer in advance or take a taxi. I was lucky to talk to a dispatcher in a booth who said it was $10 and I insisted I will not pay more when talking to the taxi driver. If I did not do it I could have been asked for any sum imaginable. On the way back to the airport I arranged it with the guy at the reception for $15. He was the intermediary with the Taxi driver. But during the whole of the drive the taxi man was tormenting me with the complaints that it was not enough - one hand on the wheel, the other on a telephone translator. Nobody speeks English. The pressure caused a terrible head ache and spoiled the rest of the trip. Besides, they do not serve breakfast early. Next time I will choose a more reputable hotel.

Hotel is nice but in an industrial area. There’s also no shuttle back and forth from airport - just their private car which is pretty expensive. Nothing much to do around here. So if you have more than a few hrs layover in Istanbul, you’re better off being in town. Bus to Istanbul mall takes about an hour. And taxi will cost around 400TL each way.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was decent. The bathroom wasn't clean but other than that it wasn't bad. There are no restaurants on site despite it saying that there are two, you have to leave the property to go to Domino's or a kabob shop which is what they were naming as their two restaurants. There was a bar set up but there was no alcohol available. But we did have free water for our stay. I felt the area surrounding wasn't the best, my husband thought it was fine. The neighborhood was definitely run down looking

If you are on your first visit to IST airport you will be surprised to find medieval Istanbul is 40km south east of the airport. IST airport is built in a farming area. Most airport hotels are located in this farming town. There is not much to do outside your hotel. This hotel has plenty of free street parking. The heating works well 2c outside. Nice room. Nice bathroom. Nice breakfast. There is food available 24 hours. Mini bar in room and more drinks at reception .

The bedroom was really dusty. Curtains and the headboard etc. When i say dusty, all you need to do is use 1 finger and touch it. I have really bad allergies so this wasnt great. This is definitely not a 4 star hotel by any means. Staff seemed nice but they offered me €25 euro taxi to the airport when it only costs €10 on uber. That would have been €50 on the way there and back. Lift doesnt fully work. Loose bits of skirting in the room that room service didnt fix but just laid back on the wall. You have to keep pressing the button or you'll be inside and the lights will go off. Overall, its a okay budget hotel and very close to the airport. If you have allergies, ask them for a deep clean. Also, the rooms are not soundproof. I could hear the people next door late at night and also the dogs/planes outside.

The cleanliness was ok but definitely could have been better! However, what was the last straw was no A/C. Management told me I could open a window. Each room should be able to have its own working A/C. I checked out early & found a nicer hotel that each room can control it’s A/C & heat!

To be fair the hotel is new and convenient to airport. However there is no buffet breakfast as advertised even thought included in my rate. On checkin the staff member dropped by bag which they admitted to after and my $600 Apple iWatch smashed its screen. So the repair is the same cost almost as a new watch. Disappointing they couldn’t offer some compensation as they were partly at fault. I am sure if I accidentally destroyed something in the room they would have been quick to charge me for it! There answer was ‘I should have told them my Apple Watch” was in the bag before they took my bags to the room so that they could have been more careful.

This place was horrible and I do not reccomend. While the room was ok, the staff was extremely rude and unproffesional. The front desk person called "Omar" (although we think he was not upfront about his name) was refusing to call us a taxi and insisting on us using their private shuttle, he argued with us insisting he knows better and that we should listen to him. Eventually we went with his private shuttle and wanted to go to the Grand Bazar as we were meeting a friend in a restaurant there. However, the driver ended up taking us in circles because according to him it was closed. We had no idea where he was taking us. Eventually we just asked him to leave us on the side of the road. Even when we returned back to the hotel - Omar kept arguing with us. Would not reccomend this place at all.

Kesinlikle tavsiye ederim.

It was good overall and very accessible if you want to be close to the airport....you can catch the bus on the corner all the way down to old istanbul.

Comodo solo per la vicinanza all’aeroporto. Con Uber, 11€ la corsa. Personale molto cortese e attento.

This stay was perfect because it is 15 minutes from the airport. The rooms are excellent with a view of the city . There is an excellent restaurant that serves authentic Turkish delivery. Transfer by taxi is so inexpensive too

The hotel is clean and customer service is top-notch! If you are staying for a night or two it is amazing but if you want to explore Istanbul city it will take you at least 3 hours to get there through public transportation and at least an hour if you rent a car.

Dining
Breakfast feedback is inconsistent: some enjoyed it, while others say there was no buffet or were charged despite inclusive rates. There is no true on-site restaurant; food is commonly via delivery, and nearby options are limited.

The management is very respectful, and the staff are also very polite whether you check in at night or during the day. As for the hotel, it is clean and comfortable and has most of what any traveler needs. The location is very convenient and everything is close to you, whether it’s a market or anything else
