The host promptly replied when we had concerns and was sympathetic. However, we had to resolve some problems ourselves. Generally, the inside of the house was OK but the outside areas gave the impression they had been neglected for some time. The paint was peeling off in some areas and the balcony off the upstairs bedroom was unusable with cracked railing, much peeling paint, and very dirty Muskoka chairs. The soft outside furniture was soaking wet because the protective plastic sheet did not fit well and had holes. The area around the firepit was a mess with saw and axe not stored away, two of the Muskoka chairs broken and the shed near the fire pit smelling of gasoline from a recent spill. There was was only one oar for the two-man canoe and the canoe was not stored on the deck as required. The most significant deficiency was the state of the paddle boat. It was not stored on the deck as required but was wedged up against the shore in the water. It was full of dirty water and algae and had been that way for a while. We moved it to the deck and cleaned it. only to find the rudder mechanism was broken and it could not be used. As we hoped to enjoy the outdoors while at the cottage, including fishing on the lake, these problems were disappointing. We have rented four cottages in Muskoka and this one needed much work on the outside areas to be brought up to the standard we have come to expect.

We had a lovely stay and the hosts were great and responsive. Good amount of space for a bigger group. If you’re going in the winter, do NOT go all the way down the driveway. You will have issues getting your car back up as it’s narrow and you have to reverse. We wish the hosts told us about this before we arrived but otherwise, we had a great stay.

This property was unfortunately oversold and did not meet our expectations, particularly regarding cleanliness. Our group noticed a lack of basic supplies-there weren't enough towels or glasses, there were no blue bins for recyclables, and the green bin on-site contained garbage. The grounds also had scattered litter. The driveway was steep and riddled with potholes, and the deck was in serious need of repair. This was disappointing given the owner's description of themselves as "zen travelers" who cherish and the love the space. The promotional materials were far more inviting than the actual property. As a long-time VRBO traveler who has stayed in properties around the world, I feel guests should be given an accurate picture upfront. My suggestion: put the same care and “TLC” you speak of in your pamphlet into the property itself-it would make the experience far more aligned with what’s advertised. Even reinvesting the revenue from one week's rental into upkeep and repairs would make a world of difference.

Beautiful spot tucked away in nature. Amazing view of the lake. Cottage was clean and very spacious. It is child friendly and had many amenities.
