What guests think
Across recent reviews, guests describe The Lookout Cottage - Private, ocean view home as a modern, well appointed retreat with scenic water views and wildlife, a peaceful setting, and practical amenities that make stays comfortable for couples, families, and dog owners.
Many guests praise the spotless condition, comfortable furnishings, a well equipped kitchen and laundry, plus a spacious deck and BBQ. The setting near LaHave, beaches, and the ferry makes a good base for day trips, though it is outside town, not very walkable, and generally requires driving. Some mention a partially obstructed ocean view, one stove heating issue, and less comfortable twin beds. Overall, it suits travelers who value space, privacy, and responsive hosting.

This property is a true gem. Only 2 minutes to LaHave and its bakery, artists shops, and the ferry, and 5 minutes in the opposite direction to Crescent Beach and Risser’s park. The home itself is wonderfully designed with the kitchen, dining and living room all open and spacious. The four sets of sliding doors to the deck where you can sit and watch the ocean and the deer who visit is fantastic and also lets the breeze blow through. The gate at the end of the deck was great so we could let our dog out without fear of him wandering away. Bedrooms are well appointed, bathroom has everything you need, and laundry on site a bonus. We will be back!!

Very well-equipped and cozy spot to spend a few rainy days in December. We were able to do lots of cooking and read by the fire. The separate bedrooms and baths allowed for sleeping in which was niceWill definitely go back when weather improves.

We had a wonderful time staying at The Lookout! Jill was very communicative and made sure that we were all set with our (very) late arrival. She even looked to see when we were arriving and made suggestions about where to get groceries on our way to the property. The property was very clean and has everything you need for a good visit. There are really great activities nearby and Jill provides suggestions for those as well. Excellent visit!

While planning our trip, we narrowed our choice to two locations in the area both listed “with an ocean view”. We chose The Lookout Cottage because the house was so lovely and it indeed is. However, it is a bay view which is nice, it is just we expected an ocean view as listed in the “Private, ocean view home” There is a sliver of an ocean view but obscured by another house. In all of the photos online, a neighboring house is not shown. Although a lot or so away, the backside including trash cans, of the neighboring house is the view from the master bedroom sliding glass doors. Havening said that, the overall view from the kitchen and living area is scenic. The view away from the water onto a field is also nice since the deer like to graze there. It’s just our home overlooks a river and we paid a bit more than usual to have what we thought would be special--an ocean view. It is definitely a five-star property, all you needed was on-site and our hosts communicative.

We had a very nice stay at the Lookout. The host went out of their way to make our stay a great experience. We will definitely return to enjoy the beautiful deck during warmer weather. Jim and Tammy
