What guests think

At Bowmanville Marina Inn & Suites, travellers consistently highlight very clean, recently updated rooms, comfortable beds, and friendly, accommodating service with clear remote check-in, while noting trade-offs like train noise, thin walls, and light leaking through blinds at night.

Rooms feel basic but functional, often with a fridge, microwave and coffee maker, yet some are small and bathrooms compact. On-site amenities are limited as the marina and restaurant are closed, there is no ice machine, and exterior areas can look worn. The setting is near the water and trails, convenient to Highway 401 and the Oshawa GO by car, but dining usually requires driving and the surrounding area feels industrial to some. Expect a clean, no-frills stopover with warm service.

We thought the room was fine but the property needs some sprucing up as it very rough in spots. For the price the value just wasn't what you would expect for the price you paid. It is very unlikely we will choose this property in the future.

We learned marina did not reopen after COVID, nor did the reputedly "great little" restaurant. Rooms are in a two-story building and are recently renovated and refreshed: everything was sparkling clean. Flowers and ferns adorn the exterior with porch chairs available. We were very comfortable in every way, although there wasn't a chair in the room (had to sit on the bed). Micro-fridge and coffee maker always a plus. Bath and bed linens were very high quality. Shower temperature and pressure very good. HVAC responsive and effective. Television selection included all the basics. Bring your own hair dryer, though. Nice complimentary toiletries and extra towels in the bathroom. We thought the parking lot looked a little tired and without any lines, it was challenging to know how to park. Our hostess was delightful, warm, welcoming, helpful, greeting us as if her personal guests. Convenient to gas station and casual dining. Room rate was reasonable. We would recommend to others and stay again.

This is a cute, two-floor motel. Rooms are nicely redone (with no yucky dirty hotel carpeting). I was impressed by how VERY clean our room was!!!! Everything was fresh, crisp, laundered and tidy. Lights and tv, as well as heating, were turned on for us to make for a welcoming arrival. The bathroom (toilet & tub) is tiny, but the vanity isn't in there and the main room is spacious enough. Our beds were warm and comfortable. Room conveniently has a small fridge and microwave Even the coffee from the mini maker was yummy! We visited during the winter and I would recommend.

We stayed for 2 nights and would not return. The room was tiny especially the bathroom. There is no ventilation in the bathroom so it gets incredibly hot in the room. The motel is located very close to the train tracks and so it is very noisy. There is also a light right outside the window which woke me up because I thought it was morning. Good for a very short stay.

It was a good deal for an overnight and it had everything I needed including a coffee maker, microwave and a mini fridge. They don't have staff there in the evening for arrivals but they sent me both a voice and text message and had a lockbox to let me get into the room. One thing to be aware of is that there is fairly frequent train traffic with them blowing their horns for a nearby intersection.

The staff were all friendly. The room was clean and it was convenient to have a microwave and fridge. The downside came with the amount of times trains went by with their horns. Add to that, the walls & ceiling are paper thin. We heard every person go up & down the stairs and walk on the balcony above us. We could hear when the people next door turned on their shower or watched tv. The room only has blinds and ours was right by a light post, which was not dark at all for sleeping. We were up at first sunlight too, as the room glowed with daylight. Curtains would be helpful to keep the light out. Cute place, some conveniences but we probably wouldn't stay again because of noise & light

The rooms were exactly as expected, comfortable and clean, with everything we needed for our family of four. Evan a microwave, fridge and coffee maker. The best part of our stay was the service. The check-in was very clear and we were late arriving but the owner called us and shared after hours details. This was a quick overnight stay, bridging between two events in the Toronto area. I was looking for a budget-sensitive overnight option in the approximate vicinity of the Oshawa GO station, and this establishment was well-priced and well-reviewed. It was just fine: the room was clean and well-equipped, the wifi worked, the location (while in a part of Bowmanville I'd never seen before) was very close to the 401, there was plenty of parking (including a spot right outside my door) and I got precisely what I was looking for. Blackout curtains would be a nice touch, though: there's a bright light in the parking lot (which is appreciated, of course) but it shone right into my room and the venetian blinds did not block it out.
