The Whitlock provided just the right vibe for a friends fall vacation. We loved the coffee and tea downstairs, and even though the room did not have a fridge, the staff was very helpful about letting us use a community fridge. The rooms were clean and an appropriate size for a cozy vacation. The location couldn’t be beat!

Great location, easy parking, and the rooms are great (clean, comfortable). It's just an older property but well worth the stay.

The Whitlock is slightly fusty but charming. My room on the 2nd floor was comfortable, clean, and as a single woman traveler I felt safe. I appreciated the in room white noise machine. The location was perfect for walking to restaurants and shops. However, in October, the breakfast wasn’t available and the inn seemed to be shutting down for the season. The biggest issue came on my second night there. Around 7 in the morning an alarm went off and kept on going. People came out of their rooms into the hallway in their nightclothes and it was evident that the noise was coming from one room and the couple there couldn’t shut it off. Someone went down to the reception area ( no staff members there), someone else called the hotel emergency number ( no one answered and the number could only be found in a welcome text). Another person called 911. There was no smell of smoke and the alarm eventually went off. It turned out to be an alarm malfunction, but it it had been an actual emergency, no staff were on site. It was shocking that no one answered the hotel emergency number. No where in the room was there posted an emergency evacuation plan and map nor the emergency number. When I went down to the reception area around 9 am to talk to staff about it, the young man there said that he’d talk to his manager about it when the manager came in. There was no follow up. I did stay one more night, but would not stay here again.

The room was clean. The bath gel dispenser in the shower was low in quantity that required us to request it to be refilled. We needed to request the emptying of our bathroom wastebasket. Raising the right window roller shade caused the right side of the shade to wrinkle and be raised unevenly. The front desk staff were helpful, polite and also absent from their position to attend other duties.

I stayed in what is called a “cozy queen.” The room was perfect for me traveling by myself, and would work well for a couple. The room and private bath were clean and comfortable. I am rating the Whitlock a “3”, because there was no staff onsite, and no written instructions provided in lieu of. Had there been one or the other, I would leave a higher rating. I stayed one night, during the second week in October. My room was on the third floor (no elevator that I saw), and it had been a very warm day. So, my room was hot. When I went to turn on the AC, my friends let me know that they were told the day prior that the AC units were off for the season—not even the fan was available. Okay, so I went and opened my windows, and discovered that there were no screens. I was worried about bugs and thankful that didn’t have children with me. As far as onsite staff, even at checkout, there was only a sign indicating that the employee was away somewhere else. I am glad I was only there for a short stay. The location was great, in downtown Lenox.
