What guests think

Quality Inn & Suites Amsterdam draws consistent praise for clean rooms, friendly staff, and a generous hot breakfast, while recent reviews also note renovations, occasional maintenance hiccups like A/C or hot water issues, and stained carpets in some older areas.

The location is convenient off the highway and near shops and restaurants, though downtown typically requires a drive and a few rooms pick up road noise. Facilities cover ample parking and paid EV charging, but the gym's availability and condition have been inconsistent. A few guests reported inconsistent front-desk communication, billing frustrations, or unhelpful responses. Overall, it suits stopovers and value-focused stays.

This hotel was ok. I had booked for a week as parent was in hospital. The first night my air conditioner was not working. When I inquired the next morning I was told - oh yes there’s a note saying it needed to be fixed. You do not put anyone in a room that has broken ac. So then I had to wait for a room to be made available to move my belongings- no discount was offered for the inconvenience. The fitness room had no ventilation either so that was a let down as that was a reason I picked ut.

Only negative was blood stain on one of the sheets. They dropped off new sheets immediately. Although pet friendly if you book online you must call and confirm you are in a pet friendly room. I booked a room online that said it was pet friendly but the hotel said that was not the case and had to change us to another room. They are also very uptight about pets. You have to swear to a long list of guarantees about your pet and sign.

The staff were great and the hotel was very clean. Let’s just say the room we got did not resemble what we saw in the pictures. The room itself was very clean. However, the carpet was in terrible condition and the room was very dated. To the hotels defence, they did have a sign up which said they were performing renovations and apologized for any inconvenience caused by them. I can only assume they were getting around to the rooms.

Desk staff seemed quite timid, except for one with a somewhat gruff manner who would suddenly appear and take over whenever I asked a question. Sometimes she didn't understand my question / forgot to mention something, which created some minor confusion. She would get short tempered when this happened and on more than one occasion, she stomped off in a huff with her back to me while answering my question and telling me how she had done everything right, etc. I was surprised by this and found myself trying to keep things nice and make her feel like its all ok. These were simply things that were of little consequence (there were hangers missing from our room and we enquired about laundry facilities). I really just wanted to get things done and be on my way. Later it occurred to me that it made me feel bad. We only spent two nights, but if we stayed longer I would have avoided asking anymore questions. That's not how a hotel should want guests to feel.

Very good and convenient budget hotel for overnight stop for road trips along the Trans-Canada. Overall spacious, well kept and clean except the carpets are getting stained and worn. The included breakfast is very good with a lot of variety including pancakes, sausages, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, hash browns, yogurt, cereals, toast and muffins. Not much fruit though, just oranges the two times we have stayed there recently. It is located in the middle of a commercial area on the outskirts of town. There are some chain restaurants about a 10 min walk away across some busy streets near some shopping centres. We would stay again but wish they would give the carpets a good steam cleaning.
