What guests think

However, many mention facility gaps or outages—especially the hot tub/sauna being repeatedly closed—and a basic gym. Room feedback is mixed: several find rooms small and note inconsistent bed comfort, lumpy pillows, and noisy HVAC, plus occasional low shower pressure. Location is convenient to the airport and highways but has limited walkable options and occasional noise from nearby traffic or trucks. Expect a clean, friendly, budget-minded stay with some trade-offs in amenities and room comfort.

Hotel was nice. Hot tub was out of service. Gym was ok no tv remote and water jug was empty so had to go back up to my room to get a refill. No one pen or paper in room, seems weird as it’s a business suite. Would stay again for sure.

The staff were friendly and efficient, the breakfast was only average and the water pressure in the shower was lower than expected. Unfortunately the hot tub was also closed.

Very sparse amenities. Hot tub and sauna out of order. No ice or vending machines. No milk or ways to make tea at certain times of the day. Not even bags for your laundry or robes like most hotels have. Beds were uncomfortable and pillows were lumpy. The only staff that were friendly and seemed happy and nice were the staff that did the breakfast. I dont recommend this hotel and will not be going back the next time we visit Fort McMurray.

We have stayed at the Microtel 4-5 times and the hot tub hasn't ever been open. Every time we've had breakfast, there is only one person working so we can't get silver ware etc.

This on queen room had a musty almost like old ashtray smell. Had to open the window and turn on bathroom fan to get rid of the smell. After returning to the room at the end on the day the stuffy odor was back and we needed to air the room out. This room should only be booked by singles. It is way too cramped for a couple. The name Micro is appropriate for this room.

There were many little issues that were surprising with a property that is fairly new, however the biggest issue was the overwhelming smell of sewage that permeated the entire property. I had meeting rooms booked for the week and the smell made it incredibly difficult. The staff tried very hard but there was only so much they could do. Overall not a recommend

Hotel was nice. It is unfortunately a bit out of Fort McMurray but a very close drive. Room was nice and clean with ac. My only issue was that the sheet that layers the blanked had some green/black stuff along the top where your face would be. Could be a stain or could be mould but was definitely off putting. Noticed it too late to get a change so just kicked the sheet down by my feet for the night.

The hotel is really nice, the area around it is not, right beside a Burger King and a Shell, and lots of semis park in front of the hotel and run their engines all night. The back of the hotel is definitely quieter, but unfortunately the in-room heating/cooling system is not great - you can't actually turn it off, so it either goes on and off all night or runs continuously with a loud fan. I have never stayed in a hotel with a wall heater/AC that you can't turn off.

This was my first stay at this hotel in Fort McMurray. When I checked in, they did everything they could to accommodate my 2 night stay, including making sure I wasn’t on the same floor as the kids hockey team which included upgrading my room. My only complaint is that the breakfast thats included with the stay, it isnt available before 6:00am which I found a bit inconvenient since the hotel is utilitzed by plenty of oilfield companies in town whos workdays start at 6:00am so having the breakfast available prior would have been better.

The mattress in our room was very uncomfortable (way to firm) and the A/C did not regulate the heat well, we would wake up sweating or shivering all through the night. Otherwise the room was nice and clean. A pool table(s) would be a welcome addition to the game room. Loved the cookies, and the breakfast. The hotel is one of the nicer areas in Fort McMurray and they are pet friendly. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Just needed a better mattress and better functioning A/C in room 211. Although it had other redeeming qualities, we may not return based on the poor quality of sleep we received.
