We had booked a 2 bedroom suite. Upon checkin, we confirmed this. The reception staff said “no, you have a 1 bedroom suite”. I said “no. Booked and paid for a 2 bedroom.” Then he faffed around like it wasn’t available or clean (well after the check in time). Finally got the room we paid for, but how sneaky to just downgrade our paid reservation. Plus the pool was closed and we weren’t notified until check in. The surrounding area is completely under construction. Stay elsewhere.

Access to the pool is extremely unsafe. There are measures in place to keep non-registered guests out of the pool/gym area, but the phone does not work and someone could easily be trapped in the area.

We had a two bedroom suite which was spacious and comfortable! The pool was closed which seems to be common at Homewood Suites as far as we know & the breakfast was unfortunately not very good.

Pool was closed for emergency repairs with no end date. Room "keys" didn't work due to a battery issue. Happily, this was fixed within 30 minutes (late at night). One of two bathroom ceiling lights strobed. It could not be turned off separately from the one light that worked normally. Both chargers for recharging cars were inoperable due to missing QR codes. Happily, functional chargers were nearby and staff directed guests to them as needed. A new sofa mattress would ne appreciated! Toasters were not functioning properly and dining room staff, while efficient, were not particularly friendly.

We really enjoyed our time at Homewood Suites in Kanata. The hotel was very clean throughout, and the amenities — especially the pool and gym — were excellent. Breakfast was tasty with a good variety, and it was never too busy, which made for a relaxing start to the day. Would definitely stay here again!

Stayed 1 night

stayed overnight in Ottawa to see an NHL game, booked a king suite which did not disappoint. The hotel is modern and clean, pool is warm and inviting, staff were very kind. My only complaint was the entrance to the hotel was awkward to find, as its in the back corner of the building, and the parking situation there is absolutely terrible. Seemed like the hotel was quite full due to many families for what I assume was a hockey tournament. We struggled to find anywhere to park just to check in and bring in our luggage. We were told on check in that the top part of the small parking garage was for hotel guests, which was fine. We got back from the hockey game at 11pm and there was not a single parking space available. The top parking had piles of snow that were blocking many spaces, plus people had double parked. We ended up having to park on the street around the block and walking back to the hotel. When we got in I informed the staff that there was no parking, and wanted to make sure that I would not get towed on the street. He told me it was fine. Luckily it didn't snow, or else street parking would have likely not been an option due to bylaws with snow removal. A hotel this size should really have more parking overall.

I really like this hotel, it’s my go to when travelling to Ottawa. However the last couple of time my rooms has not been cleaned properly. On first glance things are fine, but things hairs in shower and in shower drain, cover ontop of the blanket had stain on it, floor had hairs and some clothing tag plastics… I really love this hotel, staff and facilities are great but there needs to be more attention paid to cleanliness inside the rooms between guests as this is very off putting.

The hotel facilities were very good and I would have given Homewood Suites a higher rating, but during a 10 day stay, my room was only cleaned/serviced three times. Hotel policy is to provide services every other day, but despite contacting the front desk twice to request cleaning (empty garbage and fresh towels) it didn’t happen. I had to approach the cleaning staff while they were on my floor, and was told I wasn’t on their list. After 5 days I took bedding from the cart and changed the bed myself. It’s unfortunate, as otherwise it was a nice place to stay and the suites are nicely equipped. Overall, the staff were very good.

I stayed with my small dog in a pet room. When we opened the door to the suite the door of dog urine was very overwhelming. There were smudged hand marks on the cupboards and stains on the furniture. We spent all of our time in the bedroom as it didn’t smell as bad. The head vinyl board had a drippy stain on it and hand marks and had clearly not been wiped clean in awhile.

Unfortunately I won't be looking for rooms at this property any longer. I made a guaranteed reservation being that I travel every month to Kanata but this time my plans were altered and although I tried to negotiate for a change of dates in my reservation they still charged me for the entire stay - $800 out of my wallet into their petty cash. Client service is a big thumbs down.
