This is a basic four star hotel with several outstanding features. It used to be a German bank before it was converted to a hotel, and has high ceilings, with chandeliers in certain rooms. The rooms themselves are in need of refurbishment, but are otherwise comfortable. The bed is great! The breakfast in their terrace restaurant is merely adequate, but the place itself is open 24hrs for coffee or just hanging out (byob!). Their piece de resistance, however, is their location, and the view from the terrace and from some rooms! It's truly amazing in all directions. The hotel is literally steps away from the Galata bridge (for walking across to the Sultanahmet area), the ferry terminal to Kadikoy and other places, the Tunel (funicular) to Istiklal street, and the T1 tram to Kabatas (Dolmabahce Palace) and Sultanahmet. This area, Karakoy, is a great nightlife area with cool restaurants and bars. The beautiful Galataport area is a very short walk away. Last but not least, it's the exemplary level of service from all the staff! They are all wonderfully polite and helpful. They can arrange airport transportation and tours, and are very responsive to pre-visit email and WhatsApp queries. If you're looking for a modern hotel and great Turkish breakfast, this is not it. But aside from that, it's fantastic.

Sitenizde yer alan otel bilgileri doğru değil! Otoparklı otel aradık ve burayı seçme sebeplerimizden birisi, otoparkı var olarak işaretlenmesi isi. Değil otopark, konumu dolayısı ile önğnde 5 dk durup eşya indirecek surum bile yoktu. Kısmi deniz manzaralı ve balkonlu bir oda ayırtmıştık. Verilen oda, balkonlu ama deniz manzarasız idi. Oda fotoğrafları, sitenizde görülen ile alakasızdı. Galata Kulesi manzaralı bir oda verdiler sağ olsunlar ama sonuçta deniz filan görmüyordu. Kahvaltı yeterli, otel çalışanları gayet ilgili, temizlik OK idi ama otel eskimiş, daha önce belirttiğim gibi, oda tefrişatı sitenizdeki fotoğraflardan çok farklı.. bu ve otopark olayı ciddi hayal kırıklığına uğrattı bizi.

Low water pressure in the shower, toilet seat was broken, dusty curtains, mediocre breakfast. I didn’t like to see the gentleman at breakfast cleaning the counter with the same mop that he used to clean the floor. At breakfast you feel like you are being supervised by the above mentioned gentleman. The location is fantastic and the view from the terrace is amazing, close to the tram and the street food . I liked that there was always coffee and tea available at the terrace. It’s a bit noisy but I still would recommend this place.

At one end of the Galata Bridge the hotel is very well located - with easy access to modern and ancient parts of the city, and easy reach to tram (outside the front door) and ferry services. The front door was, however, rather inconspicuous. A hearty traditional breakfast was provided on the roof terrace which had a wonderful view. My room had a partial sea view of the Galata bridge and Hagia Sophia and was very quiet despite the busy location. Seyfullah and other staff were very helpful.

Stayed in Nordstern Hotel Galata in August 2025. Hotel room offered ample space, was clean, bed was comfortable, and wi-fi was reliable. Hotel is located near Galata Tower, about a 5 minute walk from hotel. This location is perfectly located near main locations, without being overly crowded. Hotel has an amazing rooftop area where breakfast is offered, after breakfast area remains accessible if you need somewhere to relax and enjoy a stunning city view. The Staff are hands down the best! Super friendly and always available for any questions or requests. Shout out to Ramajan and Nijat! If you would like recommendations to the best food or attraction spots, these fine gentlemen are more than happy to put you on to some local spots! I also booked their airport shuttle service and it is honestly so worth it. Communication on meet up location was clear and driver arrived on time, Ramajan & Nijat also made sure to follow up with me regarding my return shuttle to the airport. This was such a peace of mind. 10/10 highly recommend.

The hotel was nice, with comfy beds and big rooms. My room had splendid a view to the Galata Tower. Staff is always ready to help, they even brought a plate of fruit as welcome. Breakfast was good with a fabulous terrace, but with only basic options, you should add yogurt and more sweet pastries. The tram stop is in front of the hotel which is very convenient, or you can cross the bridge and easily walk to the historical center.

Yer konum cok iyi ama bakim gerekiyor ozellikle yataklar yatak baslari cok eski. Yuksek tavan cok guzel ama buyuk avizelerin temizligi dusunulmemis cok tozlu. Toza allerjisi olan biri olarak zorlandim. Yataklarin 2 gunde bir komple degistirilmesi lazim ama boyle bir hizmet goremedim. Havlulara dikkat edildi sadece. Personel gayet guler yuzlu idi . Sabah kahvaltida eksilen urunlerin tamamlanmasi ve cesitlilik zayifti. Teras kisminin temizligine biraz daha ozen gosterilmesi gerekiyor.

I rarely write negative reviews, but this experience warrants it. From the moment I arrived, the service was underwhelming. Staff seemed disinterested and unresponsive to basic requests, which set the tone for the rest of the stay. The cleanliness of the room was far below acceptable standards — dusty surfaces, stained linens, and a bathroom that clearly hadn’t been properly cleaned. Personal war super und immer hilfsbereit. Man konnte sie immer ansprechen bei fragen. Einziger Mangel beim Aufenthalt war die sauberkeit der Böden im zimmer. Ansonsten wurde richtig geputzt und es war alles sauber.

Beaucoup de soucis: indisponibilité d'équipements prévus, multitudes de cheveux au sol et dans les armoires,... Le personnel quant à lui a toujours été aimables et a apporté des solutions aux 3/4 du séjour. Le petit déjeuner est certainement perfectible.

Location is convenient: next to the Galata Bridge (shops, restaurants and the Galata Tower on one side, all the big monuments and museums on the other side). It is a bit noisy. The rooms look great, although cleaning can be improved. One day the drainage of the shower wasn’t working, the next day there was no hot water. These are the basics of hotels, which didn’t work. The old guy at the reception said that he knew that there was no hot water, but he was probably too proud to apologize. The younger personnel was friendly and very helpful.

We had a great stay at Nordstern hotel. Strategic location, near public transport, the Galata tower and Galata bridge. The rooms have a nice vintage style decor with high ceilings while the bathroom is very modern (a smart choice). Our room was very clean and neat. The breakfast is buffet style with many savoury and sweet options. But the best part of the hotel is the excellent staff: they are very warm, kind, attentive, and professional. They really made us feel at home. Our airport transfer service was arranged smoothly and the contact with the hotel manager and reception was easy. We really liked the small attentive gestures from the staff: we were offered cold water when we arrived (apart from the bottled water in the rooms), and when we came back to our room after a long (warm!) day, we saw a bottle of ice cold water and normal bottled water. We would also like to thank the kitchen staff for the Turkish coffee, and they also offered to make us an omelette for breakfast, very kind. A big thank you to the staff! I would stay here again and I would recommend this hotel to everyone who wants to feel at home in a neat hotel at a great location with excellent staff. Hopefully till next time.

The room was fine but the lock failed 30 times on a two night stay. The first night the room sas hot so we tried to start AC with no luck. The front desk advised that it was turned off since October is the start of the winter season. They said that they couldn’t get around that. The location is great, the included buffet breakfast was nice but not great for vegans (some days better than others, nothing labeled). There is a fridge in the room but it is inside an un-vented cupboard which gets very hot so the fridge doesn't work. Blankets were just sheets and the bed was quite hard. The hotel room seemed like it was designed by someone who has never stayed in a hotel. Staff were generally lovely and helpful when they could. There was one odd incident on our first night when we were on the main balcony taking a few pictures of the skyline and the man who checked us in a few hours prior confronted us seeming to think we were tourists wandering in off the street - it was odd and uncomfortable (he was a bit aggressive at first) but he was apologetic when he realised the mistake. This hotel with amazing views and location where I stayed for two nights on there room 401 where is a nice room with balcony but! A big but, when they gave me the room AC was off and room was hot they told me it will cool down, I left for several hours and thinking it will be perfectly cold but coming back it was barely cold, told this to reception multiple times, they were overall very good to communicate but the problem of this rooms ac (although seems like a central ac system which I looked for before I booked) was not performing normally and needed repair. I kindly asked for a sensible refund of the portion of my stay. Still haven’t heard back anything. I wouldn’t stay there again because they basically gamble and give you a room, expecting the guests to eat up all the problems of the rooms/stay.

I had the best stay at Galata Nordstern! The room was comfortable, though it could use a little update—some fittings in the bathroom were a bit worn, like the broken toilet seat and towel bar. We had a great stay at Nordstern hotel. Strategic location, near public transport, the Galata tower and Galata bridge. The rooms have a nice vintage style decor with high ceilings while the bathroom is very modern (a smart choice). Our room was very clean and neat. The breakfast is buffet style with many savoury and sweet options. But the best part of the hotel is the excellent staff: they are very warm, kind, attentive, and professional. They really made us feel at home. Our airport transfer service was arranged smoothly and the contact with the hotel manager and reception was easy. We really liked the small attentive gestures from the staff: we were offered cold water when we arrived (apart from the bottled water in the rooms), and when we came back to our room after a long (warm!) day, we saw a bottle of ice cold water and normal bottled water. Awful experience. Broken toilet. Rude staff. Plaster coming off the walls. A/C not working. Coffee machine not working at breakfast buffet. We had a terrible experience at this hotel. Toilet broke, staff didn't fix it, we come back to a room that hadn't been serviced. We were downgraded to a smaller room, there the A/C was not working there, super hot summer. Tried the breakfast buffet, stale bread, coffee machine out of order, staff didn't want to fix it, they didn't care and said "Drink tea". Same attitude at the front desk, nobody wanted to help. They kept saying "we don't have a record of your request to fix these issues in your room". Different staff shift blaming each other. Manager never present and refused to speak with us (and expedia customer service) over the phone. I will never stay there again. this is worse than a hostel. Should not be listed on Expedia and most definitely, this hotel does not meet VIP access criteria. Istanbul is a beautiful city, plenty of good hotels in this area. Don't stay at the Nordstern.

Stayed in Nordstern Hotel Galata in August 2025. Hotel room offered ample space, was clean, bed was comfortable, and wi-fi was reliable. Hotel is located near Galata Tower, about a 5 minute walk from hotel. This location is perfectly located near main locations, without being overly crowded. Super friendly and always available for any questions or requests. Shout out to Ramajan and Nijat! If you would like recommendations to the best food or attraction spots, these fine gentlemen are more than happy to put you on to some local spots! I also booked their airport shuttle service and it is honestly so worth it. Communication on meet up location was clear and driver arrived on time, Ramajan & Nijat also made sure to follow up with me regarding my return shuttle to the airport. This was such a peace of mind. 10/10 highly recommend.

This was a great spot to stay. Easy to navigate the city with the tram so easily accessible. Front desk staff was helpful and accommodating. The street was loud but the windows close and the view was breathtaking. Rooftop access was great for evening photo shoots.

At one end of the Galata Bridge the hotel is very well located - with easy access to modern and ancient parts of the city, and easy reach to tram (outside the front door) and ferry services. The front door was, however, rather inconspicuous. A hearty traditional breakfast was provided on the roof terrace which had a wonderful view. My room had a partial sea view of the Galata bridge and Hagia Sophia and was very quiet despite the busy location. Seyfullah and other staff were very helpful.

War alles super. Die Unterkunft liegt sehr zentral, dementsprechend ist es nicht besonders leise wegen dem Verkehr. Ansonsten alles super, das Personal ist sehr nett, das Frühstück ist super. Perfekt für einen kurzen Aufenthalt

Awful experience. Broken toilet. Rude staff. Plaster coming off the walls. A/C not working. Coffee machine not working at breakfast buffet. We had a terrible experience at this hotel. Toilet broke, staff didn't fix it, we come back to a room that hadn't been serviced. We were downgraded to a smaller room, there the A/C was not working there, super hot summer. Tried the breakfast buffet, stale bread, coffee machine out of order, staff didn't want to fix it, they didn't care and said "Drink tea". Same attitude at the front desk, nobody wanted to help. They kept saying "we don't have a record of your request to fix these issues in your room". Different staff shift blaming each other. Manager never present and refused to speak with us (and expedia customer service) over the phone. I will never stay there again. this is worse than a hostel. Should not be listed on Expedia and most definitely, this hotel does not meet VIP access criteria. Istanbul is a beautiful city, plenty of good hotels in this area. Don't stay at the Nordstern.

Low water pressure in the shower, toilet seat was broken, dusty curtains, mediocre breakfast. I didn’t like to see the gentleman at breakfast cleaning the counter with the same mop that he used to clean the floor. At breakfast you feel like you are being supervised by the above mentioned gentleman. The location is fantastic and the view from the terrace is amazing, close to the tram and the street food . I liked that there was always coffee and tea available at the terrace. It’s a bit noisy but I still would recommend this place.

At one end of the Galata Bridge the hotel is very well located - with easy access to modern and ancient parts of the city, and easy reach to tram (outside the front door) and ferry services. The front door was, however, rather inconspicuous. A hearty traditional breakfast was provided on the roof terrace which had a wonderful view. My room had a partial sea view of the Galata bridge and Hagia Sophia and was very quiet despite the busy location. Seyfullah and other staff were very helpful.

The location is great, the included buffet breakfast was nice but not great for vegans (some days better than others, nothing labeled). There is a fridge in the room but it is inside an un-vented cupboard which gets very hot so the fridge doesn't work. Blankets were just sheets and the bed was quite hard. The hotel room seemed like it was designed by someone who has never stayed in a hotel. Staff were generally lovely and helpful when they could. There was one odd incident on our first night when we were on the main balcony taking a few pictures of the skyline and the man who checked us in a few hours prior confronted us seeming to think we were tourists wandering in off the street - it was odd and uncomfortable (he was a bit aggressive at first) but he was apologetic when he realised the mistake. Nice enough, but just generally a little odd.

The hotel was nice, with comfy beds and big rooms. My room had splendid a view to the Galata Tower. Staff is always ready to help, they even brought a plate of fruit as welcome. Breakfast was good with a fabulous terrace, but with only basic options, you should add yogurt and more sweet pastries. The tram stop is in front of the hotel which is very convenient, or you can cross the bridge and easily walk to the historical center.

PSA - DO NOT STAY HERE!! While the location is ideal, the hotel is a scam. The rooms are unhygienic and do not completely match the description. The bathroom was mouldy, the air conditioner didn’t work, and door handle was faulty. It is old, run down, and very dusty! Hotel Management are not responsive! Our air condition was faulty and was not cooling the room (it is peak summer and VERY hot!!) Both my husband and I got itchy (due to the dust) , requested a room change or refund. Both were denied, but we had to leave because we began to get hivesz I will keep writing negative reviews until they refund my money for the remaining nights. We had no choice but to leave, to protect our health. I am a very reasonable person and never wrote negative reviews, but hotel management lied saying there was no mould in the bathroom and that air conditioner was was working…why would we lie?? I have both pictures and videos of all the faults in the room, all of which were denied despite the evidence. Stay away from this hotel!!

The staff at the hotel were friendly and very helpful. We had the spa suite and it was huge and very nice. The breakfast was traditional Turkish food with vegetables, salads, hard boiled eggs. I longed for some hot eggs and toast. No ice was available at the hotel, but the front desk kept us supplied with water. There was a mini-refrigerator in the room to keep it cold. Location was great, right at the Galata Bridge, which had several wonderful restaurants on the lower level. There was a coffee shop right next door but coffee wasn’t available until 8:30 so make other plans for coffee if you’re an early starter.

The pictures online makes the hotel look magically antique and ornate. Unfortunately the truth is that it's just old and run down. The comforter was smaller than the mattress, there was no A/C, and it was incredibly loud and bright making sleep a challenge. We both bought ear plugs to combat the street noise. Great location, but no other positive attributes.
