The Ramada on the Rideau is a hidden gem. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The location is conveniently near to major sites in Ottawa. The proximity to the Rideau and the canoe and kayak rentals was a major plus. We stayed there to attend a family funeral and the staff was very considerate and kind. Special thanks to Kiran and Mary Ann for their kindness during our difficult time.

After driving for 9 hours getting there only to find the hot tub out of order. Spent the day in downtown Ottawa in plus 30 degree weather & have dinner with friends from the area, get back to the hotel hoping to cool off in the pool but they Locked the gate at 8pm. The breakfast was cold for the entire three days we were there. It was mentioned to the staff on the first day but nothing appeared to be done to rectify the problem.

The landscaping was beautiful, and all of the employees were lovely. I had made a special request that extra towels be in the room, which I had to ask for. The hot tub was out of service and the outdoor pools were only open till 8pm. I had higher expectations for the hotel.

I found a 3/4” long bug on bed and asked vacuum cleaning the soonest. Next day, they said they did it, but actually they did not. (I took the room photo for comparison.) The day after next day, they did vacuum cleaning. I had a feeling that they don’t take this as something serious.

We had stayed here twice before, over ten years ago. We loved the grounds with the view of the Rideau River and the service that was provided at the check in desk as well as at the breakfast was great. However, the buildings are quite run down and we found the rooms to be quite dirty especially the floors. They may have been vacuumed but not mopped regularly and we could see the dirt in the corners as well as on the tiles in the bathrooms. Our feet and socks became quite dirty. We stayed on the ground floor and noticed how noisy it was from the people walking around on the second floor. The floor was creaky and we could hear thumping in the middle of the night. Aside from these, our stay was pretty good. Not sure if we’d stay again.

Heating was in corner of room And you couldn’t control overall room temperature, very uncomfortable climate. Room above very noisy into early hours, very small room with two double beds, hasn’t been updated in years, bathroom Micro small, toilet at an angle and when you sit on it your leg touches the baseboard heater, scary for little kids. No coffee cups , very basic coffee maker. It was so bad we left at 3.30am to drive back home.

The room we were given was nice except for the shower. It was a standing shower and was so small we couldnt use it. They moved us to a different room for the 2nd night, but we had to shower elsewhere on the middle day. Absolutely ridiculous for the cost charged. Breakfast was mediocre.

The quests beside us, kept us up all night with loud music; smoking weed and partying. We called the front desk twice but they were not able to get them to quiet down. I had a work event the next day and I was exhausted with no sleep. I asked to speak to management three times but they were never around. Upon checkout management discounted the “noisy”night by 50% ( should have been 100%). The hotel should have kicked them out instead. I don’t think we will return. Hotel should always have a manager on site. The breakfast was great and the room was very clean. Great bath tubs.

Reserved two rooms while traveling from way out of town. When I arrived, the front desk clerk only gave me one key. When I asked about my second room, he was extremely rude and said “sorry, only one room - we’re booked”. I explained I’d reserved two rooms for four travelers, and showed him the reservation on my phone. He shrugged and said “Not my fault, nothing I can do”. I asked if the second room was under my friends name - Marc - to which he replied “no, I only have one other reservation for Farah”. I explained I couldn’t stay if there wasn’t enough room for the entire traveling group, to which he replied “not my problem, you’ll be charged either way. And there are no other hotels in the city, so…”. I insisted he triple check, and when he did, he showed me the reservation for “Farah” and it was in fact my reservation for myself/Marc. He replies “Oops. Problem solved!” and nonchalantly hands me the second key. Totally unprofessional and a huge waste of time at almost 1am when we’d been traveling all day.

Check-in was simple, no fuss. Upgraded to excellent room upon arrival, the room was very clean and the attention to detail by the cleaning staff was quite apparent. All staff were very friendly and made sure our needs were met. Overall, this is one of the better mid-range hotels I've stayed at in the NCR. Well done.

This is a nice place to stay if you have a vehicle to get around. It isn’t a very tourist friendly area. If you don’t want to take an Uber every where. We ended up renting a vehicle for a coupe of days, work out better for us.

This is right on the river. We were there just as winter had ended so the flower beds and grounds weren’t all sorted yet but you can tell they will look great . It’s like a water vacation get away but you are still in the city !!!! We will be back :)

We enjoyed our brief stay. Room was spacious and comfortable and the price was reasonable. The best part was the location right on the Rideau Canal and lovely seating areas to have coffee by the water. Also the River Lounge on site had great food and service. We chose the hotel for its proximity to the Ottawa airport. The hotel is an aging lady on the Rideau that, with a little TLC, could return to becoming a pleasant stay. There were two problems. First: there is no restaurant within walking distance other than Starbucks, so we ate at the hotel. The server ignored us for a long time. The food was mediocre (dry fish, poorly cooked steak). The server never asked us what we wanted to drink until after the food arrived. At our table he was noisy (dropping cutlery on the plates) and seemed to want us gone. Second (and worse): We were given room 221, on the second floor of one of the buildings. The outdoor stairs and the floor to the room are crumbling with exposed rebar. At the top of the stairs, there is an exposed end of rebar that is not only a trip hazard but also could cut someone wearing sandals who was not aware of it. I don't think this stairway and floor would pass a safety inspection.

It is set on a beautiful rideau river setting. They have a shuttle to and from the airport and the pool and lounge area is relaxing. The staff cares that you have a good stay. Great complementary buffet breakfast too. The restaurant food is good and prices are reasonable.

This property is old and outdated. When I tried to open the screen onto the balcony the door fell off. The bathroom door wouldn’t close because it was swollen and the floor boards were cracked and someone tried to glue them back together. All in all a terrible nightmare. I can’t believe that Ramada would put their name on this hotel. Not worth the money!
