What guests think

At Auberge du Plateau, travellers consistently praise the friendly, welcoming staff, central Plateau location, and good value, as well as the simple but tasty breakfast—often with fresh pancakes—and generally clean rooms and common areas.

Several reviews also note a convivial hostel vibe and the convenience of a shared guest kitchen. Recurring drawbacks include noise from thin walls or the street and crowded or limited shared bathrooms. Breakfast is popular but can feel congested, and some mention restricted 8–10 a.m. service hours; a few also report off-site parking, many stairs, and occasional after-hours check-in or refund/payment issues. Overall, expect a budget-friendly, social hostel stay in a prime Plateau location.

Frigos partagé a disposition.

I booked this room just a couple hours before checking in as I had a change of travel plans. Upon arriving the property seemed promising. I booked a private bedroom with a shared bathroom. But when I was directed to my room it felt like a maze to find it on the 4th floor. Previous floors had a secondary staircase for emergency fire exits, while the 4th floor only had one narrow staircase with no secondary fire exit. I’m not sure if that’s a fire code violation in Montreal or not but it made me feel anxious, claustrophobic, and unsafe. I spoke to the front desk about it and they showed me another room on the floor bellow, which was the floor with an emergency exit. I said yes to this room and only after was told it would be an extra $100 for that room. I was really not pleased with that so I asked if they could just cancel my reservation, especially since I had only booked it a couple of hours before, and I would relocate somewhere else. The staff said they could cancel it but I would be charged a fee of basically the cost of my night. I really wasn’t impressed with how this was dealt with. It was a nice enough place and in a good area and if on the floors bellow 4 I would say it’s a good deal. But my experience won’t have me returning.

VERY rude staff. I purchased a room via debit card and when I got to the reception and showed them my receipt from online they told me they couldn’t accept debit cards and did not refund me for my rooms I already bought. They claimed they only accept credit cards however I bought a room there a week earlier with the same don’t card and they accepted it. The staff are on drugs, unstable, and constantly change their “ policy”stay away from this type of customer services. Still never got my refund btw

I was very disapointed because i had only stayed 1 night out of my originally planned 6 (which was one of the worst nights I have experienced hence why I left after 1 night). However, when I contacted the property about a refund, they were super flaky and unprofessional (stopped replying to my emails) and have not yet refunded the remaining nights. Terrible experience.
