Stay in downtown Montreal with a rooftop terrace, garden views, and easy access to Sainte-Catherine Street and Bell Centre.

Where we are is just as important as what we are. Situated on Mackay Street, a quiet side street just steps from Sainte-Catherine Street, the city'�s main downtown shopping district, Auberge L'Apero is within walking distance of most of Montreal'�s attractions including Old Montreal, Chinatown, numerous museums, and our famous Underground City. We are only one block from the Metro, the city's fast, clean subway system that can whisk you anywhere that is too far to walk, from the Jean-Drapeau Park to the hip boutiques and restaurants of the famous Plateau Mont-Royal. We are just a 15 minutes bus ride from Mount-Royal, Montreal'�s largest urban park, that offers seasonal sports and majestic views, Montreal is a city of festivals and our location gives easy access, either on foot or by Metro, to the venues of all of our great festivals. Whether you come to our city for Jazz, Comedy, the Fringe Festival, les Nuits d'�Afrique or the Saturday night Fireworks, you will be close enough to walk, but far enough away to relax and sleep in quiet and comfort. Montreal has an excellent public transit system that can get you anywhere in the city. The first time you go to a metro station, ask the ticket taker or our staff for the Plan de Réseau. It is the official public transit map, one of the best maps of the city, and it is free. The Societe de Transport de Montreal offers other good maps on their web site.

It’s a cheap and seemingly safe place to sleep. The Asian lady who runs it seems quite polite and friendly. But the facilities are old, worn out, dirty and in places moldy. Montreal is an expensive city and Apéro is cheap and you get what you pay for. However, when you put 6 beds in one small room, and charge $40-50/each, you’re earning $200-300/night depending on occupancy. You would expect better conditions even for a hostel. This place is an old townhouse converted into a hostel and it’s small, cramped and generally fairly substandard compared to other auberges I’ve tried. By comparison, M Montreal in the village, for a similar price/night is a 1000x better and much more professional with way more space and amenities. Auberge Apéro is much smaller of course. But you can still be better organized and cleaner. This place is just worn out and needs a meaningful decluttering, repair, upgrading effort. I would not go back.

The property was unsafe (front door had been broken by a guest previously and hadn't been fixed), crowded and understaffed. Very few locks on the property overall, management of the property in the owner's absence was left to a friend of the owner who, although friendly, was not present when a argument came up between guests overnight. No common areas, almost felt like living in a slum home, piles of random objects every where made the narrow corridors even narrower. Sheets and floors were clean, but bathrooms were quite minimally cleaned and claustrophobic overall.

The bed and the shower were good. Danny was helpful with the check in. The hostel needs some repairs, but the bedroom three was good. Dulce, the manager, is an OK person. I was surprised with the check in process, but overall everything was OK for a two night stay.

L’endroit ne ressemble plus du tout aux photos de la description. L’endroit a été laissé à l’abandon. La cuisine et le salon commun sont absolument dégeulasse. Le petit air climatisé dans la chambre ne fournissait pas, alors je n’imagine meme pas la chaleur en plein été. Par contre, les lits et la literie sont propres. Les salles de bain aussi, malgré qu’elles sont désuète. Le personnel était très sympathique et courtois . Je n’y retournerai pas.

I enjoyed my stay. Staff were super welcoming, accommodating, and helpful. Location was extremely convenient! Delicious breakfast restaurants, coffee shops, pubs & dining in the surrounding blocks. My bed wasn't the most comfortable, and the bathrooms were a little run down, but the shower was good. Lockers were a decent size. Overall vibe... a little run down, but clean enough and felt very safe. Can't beat the value. Would definitely stay again.

I enjoyed my stay. Staff were super welcoming, accommodating, and helpful. Location was extremely convenient! Delicious breakfast restaurants, coffee shops, pubs & dining in the surrounding blocks. My bed wasn't the most comfortable, and the bathrooms were a little run down, but the shower was good. Lockers were a decent size. Overall vibe... a little run down, but clean enough and felt very safe. Can't beat the value. Would definitely stay again.

Centrally-located place but unfinished 10%...like running AC Duct on the Ceiling but uncovered...work-in-process..Nice staff..nice kitchen..the roof terrace is a mess..used as a dump for old tiles..stuff like that.
