What guests think

Across many reviews, Holiday Inn Express Deer Lake is praised for friendly staff, very good complimentary breakfast that starts early, comfortable beds, and a handy location near the airport, with a pool and waterslide popular with families.

Repeated complaints focus on poor soundproofing between rooms and floors, and some rooms and furnishings feel dated or worn. The airport shuttle helps with late or early flights but hours can be limited, and dining options nearby are sparse with no on-site restaurant beyond breakfast. Expect a clean, convenient stopover with standout breakfast and welcoming service.

I stayed at this Holiday Inn for three (3) nights. It was located about an hour away from most of Gros Morne National Park. This hotel was very accommodating by its mission to care of its guests; this hotel's staff was very amicable. I loved the continental breakfasts, which included: cereals, eggs, hash-browns, cinnamon rolls, muffins, cookies, pancakes, toasts, fruits, and many drinks. This gym was fine with some free weights and a few cardio machines. I loved my time at this heated pool with its waterslide; there was also a hot tub. There was plentiful parking, there were meeting rooms, and this hotel had a small store to purchase some basic foods and drinks. The free wi-fi, the elevator, the television, the water pressure, and the room temperature all worked well for me. I had daily room-service, and this hotel was clean. Sometimes, I heard loud children and a few doors slam, but otherwise, this stay was great.

We flew into Deer Lake and stayed at this hotel for one night prior to carrying on to Gros Morne. This hotel was a pleasant surprise! The beds were so comfortable, the pillows were perfect! It was quiet even with our room across from the elevator. The breakfast in the morning was complimentary and had a lot of options! But the freshly baked cookies were definitely our favourites! They were putting in new carpets in the hallways, but the work finished at a respectable time so didn’t affect our stay. My kids loved the pool and slide. Definitely wish all Holiday Inns were like this one!!

Overall, a good hotel for a single night stay when passing through. One issue that affected our stay, our room shared a door with the room next door for the purpose of joining rooms. There is a lot of noise that leaked through the door between rooms.

This hotel was by far the best hotel I stayed while in Newfoundland. Room was big and spacious. The walls weren’t sound proof. We can hear our neighbors and the room upstairs. Bathtub was a bit old. The front desk was very friendly and even checked in on us. Housekeeping happens between 11 am and 2 pm. They don’t make the bed. Breakfast was yummy.

The hotel is amazing very clean. I have stayed at this hotel now 3 times and as always everything was great staff are kind friendly and very accommodating to your needs anything you just ask and they are at the door with it. I really love they gave a dog at the hotel as a pet owner travelling not having your pets can be hard but they have a dog you can walk and visit with. I would recommend this hotel and we will be back there again.

We stayed in a suite that was supposed to sleep 6, one queen bed, one queen pull out couch and a set of bunks. We were a party of 5 so this room should have been adequate. We were only given 4 sets of towels and the pullout couch was in such poor condition we couldn’t sleep on it. We called the front desk to ask for more bedding and to complain about the pull out but got an answering machine. We left a message but never got a reply. When we checked out the front desk staff were apologetic and friendly but she suggested we should have called and could have been given a cot. She was embarrassed when we informed her we had called but didn’t get through.
