Tradewinds Motel

I had originally booked a room without a beach view but when we got to the motel I wished had, so I asked the owner if there was any way I could change rooms. He was so friendly and accommodating and took us to both the room I reserved and the one he had available facing the beach so we could compare. After seeing the view we of course witched rooms! It only ended up being 130 more for both nights and was so worth it! Especially because most of our visit to the coast was foggy and our second night at Tradewinds was so clear and beautiful we were able to watch the sunset from our bed. The room was perfect and had a little back yard with picnic tables which led out to the beach. Our first night we went to a Mexican food truck (amazing!) and said hi to the owner sitting at his desk and told him we went to one of his suggestions, he asked us if we needed silverware (we did) and he ran back and got some for us. The flowers on the property are beautiful as well. Everything about this place was comfortable and inviting!

Parking was limited due to renovation. Renovation should be listed prominently on Expedia listing.

We liked the location, close to shops, restaurants and the Historic Railroad Train Ride. The view of the ocean was great and the back yard had picnic tables to eat or play board games at. About 10 steps down to the sand. The fireplace was out of order but comfy beds and a nice extra large TV. An older building but nicely remodeled. Beautiful exterior plants. A complimentary breakfast might be nice. Easy Parking.

This is a lovely hotel. Beautiful room, great location and very comfortable. Great beach access right outside your door, picnic tables and grills. Outdoor grounds landscaped with fantastic flowers and gigantic flower baskets. Will definitely stay here again!

Neal was great. Checked us in on time and was super friendly and pleasant to deal with. Told us about the chance to find sand dollars on the beach, and we did! Motel is older, but quaint and perfect for a two night stay. Keep in mind there is no A/C, and no ceiling fan, but it was quiet enough that we slept with the window open and it was fine. Would stay here again.

Right on the beach with private access and clean room, despite the fireplace being broken. We enjoyed our stay and would return.

It was great except there is no AC or fans avaliable so be sure to bring one. Once the weekend came it was not very quiet so that kinda ruined it Wonderful view and clean rooms. Fireplace was not working during our stay sadly. Great view and very well stocked. Very clean and wonderful staff. Great for families but maybe not if you enjoy quiet. Convenient to beach also

Had a nice stay. Our room didn’t face the beach. Everything was clean and as expected. While it’s an older motel, they do a good job maintaining it. They have lovely flowers on the front. I wish it was more walkable to town. It was a very short drive.

Our room opened up directly to beach and the view was stunning. This motel is older but very clean and staff are very kind and accommodating. We were upgraded to a room with a king size bed upon arrival without asking. The kitchen in our room had everything we needed. Fireplace in room did not work and that was disappointing so hopefully it will be fixed soon. We definitely will stay there again when in the area. Thank you for a wonderful time.

Mold in the window, bubbling paint with black mold underneath, babies ended up having cold like symptoms only when we were in that room. No pack or blankets available. Not enough toilet paper for one person for a night. Heater made smokey smell.

I had a second floor, oceanfront room with a beautiful view and balcony. There is plenty of space, a king bed, a queen sofa bed and a small kitchen making it perfect for a couple or family. No frills but very comfortable.

Pros: Easy beach access, great views, close to shops and activities, easy walkability, quiet (off-season), kitchenette A couple odd things: Room 106. For us, the bed was hard and uncomfortable. The cable didn't work at all, and the remote's "OK" button didn't work, so we couldn't access the Smart TV functions and instead ended up having to connect our phone via SmartCast to the screen to watch something. The room came with a DVD player but there were no DVDs. People don't carry DVDs with them to watch, especially not in this day and age. Please consider making sure that the Smart TV and/or cable is actually usable. The room's thermostat wasn't accessible to us due to (I'm assuming) it being locked behind one of the two doors we did not have access to in our room. It was a bit cold one night and we had no way to turn the heater up or down, and instead it turned on randomly in the middle of the night once it reached some unspecified temperature. Not having access to the room's thermostat is strange. The fireplace was also unusable, so no alternative method for heating. The property is clearly older, which isn't a bad thing necessarily, so expect the aesthetic that matches with that statement. Overall, the access to the beach and the access to town made this an enjoyable experience.

Spot was great, only convenient if you get a beach view. Walls are very thin, you could hear everything going on throughout the building, even cracking a window you can hear small chattering. Room & bathroom were super clean.

No frills but cute, clean, and right on the beach. It's also nice to have the kitchenette and the room was is good condition (with the exception of the fireplace).

The property was well kept, and had very easy beach access. We were on the second floor and it was great that we were able to sleep with the sliding glass door open all night and hear the ocean. The views are amazing! The rooms were a bit dated but overall everything was clean and well kept. Highly recommend!

The owner was very nice on check-in, the room furnishings were adequate for the price paid, and the room cleanliness was excellent. However, the room was very cold when we arrived and I found that the in-wall heater really didn't have a working thermostat (only a dial that functionally allowed on or off). So throughout the night, I had to turn it on to heat the room, then off after a few hours because it became sweltering. A working thermostat could be purchase and installed near the heater for probably under $20. This heat issue was a big disappointment in what was otherwise a very nice stay.

My friend and I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Our room was upgraded to a king bed, corner unit. It was quiet and perfect. The manager was great and easy to work with. Would highly recommend. My only wish was to stay longer.

Neal the Manager was most welcoming & helpful during my visit. My room had a great ocean view with sunrise/sunsets unparalleled. The hanging flower baskets were a true welcome.

I am a solo female traveler and highly recommend Tradewinds. It was super clean, great location and management is excellent. They cared about my comfort and safety during my stay and gave me great recommendations for local restaurants and bars. I have a hotel and property management background so I have high customer service standards and they met all of them! A+++

The manager and staff were awesome. From the first day they made us feel welcome. New my name and kids names. Friendly and inviting. Will stay here again just for that hospitality.

Great place to stay along the Oregon coast if you want an expansive beautiful beach right out your door. Close to a lot of restaurants and cool places to see.

A charming hotel, covered in flowers nestled up to the beach in Rockaway, OR. Downtown is an easy walk or an easier drive.

This property is a hidden gem! The room was very clean and well appointed. The front desk staff were very kind and informative. The room was literally steps from the beach. No, the fireplace did not work and there were a few cosmetic things in the room but I have seen worse at a chain hotel. The kitchenette was a huge bonus. Cannot give enough stars to this property.

Husband and I came to the coast to celebrate his birthday, we spent two nights in a non-ocean view room. Reasonable rate, very clean room. This hotel is nothing fancy, but it makes for a comfortable stay. I have dietary restrictions, so having a fridge and microwave is crucial to us when we travel. The room was small but there were thoughtful appointments - I would imagine that the owners perhaps stayed in a room and thought about small things that would make a stay more comfortable - the high end shower head and nice towels in the bathroom. They also varnished the top of the wood on the bathroom cabinet and put bumpers on nightstand edges to avoid bruising on sharp corners - thoughtful touches like this make this property stand out. Additionally, the gentleman at the front desk is wonderful - we packed all we needed for a weekend away except for silverware. When we arrived, we asked where the closest mini mart was to purchase some - he went to the back of the office and provided two sets of his own and advised us it was his pleasure to be of service and to contact the office if we needed anything else during our stay. These are all reasons we will recommend this hotel as a reasonable place to say, and will be back in the future - thank you for the relaxing weekend. Great customer service is hard to find these days, but you will find it here.

This place was perfect for us! The owners/staff are so friendly and helpful. The property has direct access to the beach, with picnic tables and a grill. The staff even offered to give us some charcoal if we felt like grilling. We didn’t get an oceanview room, but they all had a balcony or patio facing the ocean. The room was clean and comfortable. They provided little bars or soap and shampoo, etc. There are tons of beautiful flowers and even a little zen garden on the parking lot side. We were able to park directly in front of our room. We will stay here any time we return.

A lovely inn with easy access off your deck to the beach. The owner was very helpful with offering suggestions for food and tourist attractions. The kitchenette came in handy to cook a quick meal since most restaurants weren’t open late. We enjoyed this quiet inn!
