What guests think

Across many reviews, Vedder River Inn is praised for very clean, spacious rooms and friendly, efficient staff, with a convenient location near Cultus Lake, Vedder River trails, and plenty of dining, making it a solid stop for short stays.

Common drawbacks include road noise and light due to blinds, Roku-only TVs that can be confusing, and a simple continental breakfast with limited variety and inconsistent availability. While many mention good value, some found pricing high on busy weekends and noted occasional service or policy frustrations. Expect a clean, straightforward motel-style stay with convenience as the main draw.

Lovely property. The staff at the front desk answered all our questions and directed us to an amazing restaurant across the street for dinner. The room was clean and well maintained. Appreciated the level of security as well, including cameras and 24 hour front desk. The only somewhat disappointment was the "continental breakfast", but I wasn't too fussed because I'm super picky when it comes to food :-). Overall, we enjoyed our one night stay.

The front desk person (lady) that was there was an amazing person. She made us feel comfortable and welcome even with a large group that some would not appreciate. She went above and beyond to make our stay great. The hotel rooms and surrounding area are clean and well patrolled. Definitely recommend.

We love the fact that this hotel is close to the Vedder River Trails which would have been great if they would have accepted dogs at the hotel. We always stayed at this hotel when we were in Chilliwack, as it was convenient to the river trails which we love, but sadly, they are no longer pet friendly. The only reason we stayed this time was because we did not have our dogs with us. Next time we unfortunately will choose somewhere else because our dogs will be with us.

The location of the Vedder River inn is convenient to access many great food stops around Chilliwack, and serves as a good stop for the night travelling between places. Rooms are relatively comfortable and the continental breakfast, while basic, is enough to get you by in a pinch. While my room seemed mostly clean, unfortunately one of the garbage bins had been overlooked which contained some… of the previous guests endeavours… but staff was friendly and helpful ensuring the removal of the trash. Staff was easy to talk to and accommodating for the stay. Overall, it’s a fair place to stop on the way through, and is about what you’d expect out of a standard, middle of the road motel.

Clean room bare basics. No cable just a Roku tv to use your own streaming memberships. Old style hotel coffee machine not great. Location is ideal for my needs but there were some sketchy people around the main drag in this area. Lots of Work/company trucks nightly. They leave early in am and rooms are not very sound proof. You hear workers leaving in am and basic traffic most of night and early morning. This hotel is usually priced very reasonably so I stay when visiting my relatives in Garrison area.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel this needs to be said. During my stay at this hotel, I encountered one of the rudest customer service experiences I’ve ever had. The front desk woman I dealt with was dismissive, unhelpful, and showed zero interest in addressing any of the concerns I brought forward. Rather than listening or attempting to resolve the issue, the front desk agent acted as though I was inconveniencing her by simply speaking up. Her attitude was cold and unwelcoming, and it left a terrible impression. If someone cannot even acknowledge a guest’s concerns, they should not be in a customer-facing role. This interaction alone was enough to make me not want to return. I strongly advise you to look elsewhere. A hotel is more than a building — it’s the people who run it, and based on my experience, this staff member did the hotel no favours.

Value for money? Not at all. Cancellation policy- no exceptions? Crazy. My husband had really bad asthma due to the fires along hwy 5 and 3, etc. and they wouldn’t allow us to cancel at the last minute so that we could get home fast. We were even willing to pay a third of the total stay for us to just move along! Very poor customer service. They even turned the air conditioning off in the middle of the night, obviously to save money. For the amount we paid, no way should this happen.

The price was reasonable which enabled me to lower my overall costs of attending a conference in the area, which was the only reason I chose this location. I felt safe and I was able to park my vehicle where I could see it from my window. The rooms and courtyard are pleasant. Staff was very helpful. My only suggestion would be to consider offering lower carbohydrate and lower sugar breakfast items for those who, like myself, are pre-diabetic. It's handy to have McDonalds and other restaurants nearby and a SaveOn Foods store within 10 minutes walk.
