Hideaway Inn Lenox

Nice place if you are into 70s nostalgia and don’t mind creaky floors and eclectic furniture. Very convenient to downtown Lenox and next door to a free town EV charging station. But the onsite SWTCH charger seems to be very expensive, according to the SWTCH app. Our room had a step down into the bath, and a clawfoot tub awkwardly converted into a shower that could be hard for someone to get into. Room had balcony, small fridge, comfortable bed, and charging port by bed. Nice common rooms with eclectic knick-knacks and games, vinyl records, great (free) coffee machine, filtered water, table hockey, etc. Also a separate play room for kids. Apparently pets are allowed, but didn’t see any. Some noisy guests despite 10 pm quiet time. Too bad there is no front desk staff, but you can reach someone by phone in entryway. Checkin info arrived late, only -4 hours (not 24) in advance. Seemed to be sufficient parking. Soap dispenser wasn’t working but was able to get replacement from open supply closet. A fairly long walk to Tanglewood, but could faintly hear the music in the evening!

Creepy and completely lacking in service When we arrived, we weren’t given a room number and couldn’t find it through the tablet either. There was no staff anywhere in the building to help us. The room itself is honestly quite creepy, with an extremely outdated style that makes it feel cold and unwelcoming. We also have four windows facing the street, with no shutters or blackout curtains whatsoever, so there is nothing to block the bright street lighting at night. Overall, given the price we paid, this is completely unacceptable. I genuinely regret having booked two nights here.

First thing, the parking was terrible. Only one handicapped spot and not nearly enough spaces for all of the rooms. The front door of the house was left open so anyone could enter. We were woken up in the morning at 0830 to a fire alarm. We went outside and it took the fire department AT LEAST 15 minutes to get there and when they did they COULD NOT get in the driveway due to the poor parking arrangements. There were cars parked on both sides of the driveway due to lack of parking spaces. Thank goodness it was not an actual fire because it could have been catastrophic. The room was so small that you couldn’t pass between the bed and the bathroom without hitting the door and you had to let each other pass in order to move about the room. For the price we paid for one night we could have had a much better stay elsewhere.

Room was clean but first room had an odd smell - maybe summer humidity? TV did not get signal. No staff for check in but staff appeared for TV issue - quickly switched room but TV had the same issue. Atmosphere would be great for a murder mystery weekend.
