Nice clean room. Excellent hotel with nice breakfast, and the horizon club was great for tea time and happy hour. The pool and slide is great for kids and adults both, and although the weather wasn’t great, we still got to use it. Hotel is in a great location, close to the night market. Staff was very helpful.

Kid corner has insects/ pool has no service , no one come to serve water or take your order , there is an older bar server is extremely rude/ when u ask ice basket it took at least 30-40 minutes to get there and sometimes you has to call twice / pool slide was under repair,it was very loud when you try to lie on pool relax/ breakfast is so under staff as you could wait for a coffee for 20 minutes.

The hotel greets you with warmth and hospitality from the moment you walk through the door. Staff extremely courteous and responsive. Horizon Lounge was a quiet oasis to relax and enjoy drinks and food. Free parking was an added bonus when it’s common to pay $50 a day or more at many premium hotels.

Stayed here for two nights for the second time. Nice property as one would expect from the Shangri-La. Nice room with the mountain view and very comfortable bed. Facilities are great, gym is big and has variety of equipments, enough of cardio and weight. There are also steam, sauna and jacuzzi. Overall, very nice facilities. Breakfast is great, nice options from Western to Eastern style. Location is OK but you need a car to go around. There is no restaurant in a walking distance. We rented a car and it was a perfect place for us. The only missing point is service. Check-in was slow, some staff was not efficient. Kate helped checking us in and out in the end and she was great. Gym staff were also not attentive. Steam room was not on. Many cardio equipments were left uncleaned.

The property was in a good location. Walkable to the main streets and but away from the noisey areas. Overall the property was well maintained and staff was friendly, however the only flaw was the the property condition was a little rundown. There was some stains on furniture and crack near the bathroom sink.

Staff were lovely but the property is a little run down. Walls and doors have damage in rooms and all through the property. Bathroom had dirty walls and furniture has definitely seen some things. Stuck in the 80’s without proper maintenance of the hotel. Shangri La standards are much higher in other cities.

Beautiful classical property. Fantastic grounds. Extremely clean and well maintained however the furniture while fine is definitely scratched up and aged. The concierge service was very disappointing. I was there for a very short trip and emailed a request to arrange a visit to the elephant sanctuary prior to arrival. We arrived late at night and on arrival, I was told that no one was aware of my request and that the trip was not arranged and that the night concierge would leave a message for the concierge to arrange first thing in the morning. The next morning, I again had to discuss my request with a third concierge who had not received any communication. Long story short, we ended up having to schedule the elephant sanctuary visit which was wet and muddy for our last day. This was extremely stressful as we had a 30 hour journey back to the US that evening.Check out time was 12 and the front desk's suggestion was that we check out at 7a before leaving for the sanctuary and then shower on our return in the gym. The level of service was not as expected.

Centrally located, some places within walking distance and others with a short taxi ride. The pool was very nice, the food was okay to good. breakfast is recommended. Overall the hotel was dated, but everything in my room functioned. The AC wasn't great, but it kept the room from over heating.

This property isn’t up to par with other 5 star hotels. Surprising for a Shangri-la brand, but our experience was average at best. The rooms are extremely dated, the service is just fine (no welcome drinks or towels during check-in), and the AC was noisy. The saving grace was their breakfast and pool.

Hotel is very dated and overdue for a complete renovation. Many features show their age, in the rooms and the common areas. Unpleasant smell in corridors and rooms. We had confidence in the Shangri-La brand name when we booked the hotel, not anymore. There are better places to stay in Chiang Mai. On the positive side the service was good and the breakfast decent.

This is a very comfortable hotel, clearly well run, with excellent, large airy room with and large picture windows. The variety of foods for breakfast was impressive, with attentive and friendly staff. The hotel is well located, just 10 minutes walk from the old city with it's multiple temples. The night market is close too, and good restaurants within easy walking distance.

Very good hotel thats well located, with lots of local restaurants, spas, etc within a 5 minute walk or less. We got upgraded to the Club floor, thanks to Expedia. The room was very nice, but one area of difficulty was the ac - 2 out of 3 nights, we had to call maintenance as the ac was not cooling at all. I think the hotel should have handled thst better by either moving us, or comprehensively looking at the issue during the day, as it was absurd to have the issue occurring again the next night. Overall a good stay though.

The experience at Shangri-La was very disappointing. The receptionist did not exercise discretion when he insisted that I pay for breakfast for my child, even though I explained that it was pre-ordered. He sent me to check with Expedia. It was right that the receptionist would exercise discretion, even though it was not possible for me to book rooms for 5 people with breakfast and only four would be given the opportunity to eat. I felt embarrassed. Only after I took out the booking confirmation from Expedia did he agree to accept my claims. I have been to several Shangri-La hotels, but I have never had such a disappointing experience. I feel that the hotel, the maintenance and the staff are very tired and unhelpful.

Dear friends The joy of my first trip to Chiang Mai is still there, but it's already been almost a month. I'm a team leader in a service industry. I was already looking forward to Shangri-La's strict service because I had experience using Cebu Shangri-La, but the Shangri-La I felt this time was the best. The kindness and consideration of Ms. Piano, the lobby, and the front staff, who were lounge duty, touched me as well and made me feel all comfortable in the hotel. Everyone in my team listens to my love and praise in Chiang Mai and everyone is preparing for the trip to Chiang Mai. Shangri-La was the best and the most meaningful place in Chiang Mai. Thank you again for my daughter's dainty birthday cake and all the moments that gave her joy. Even if I visit Chiang Mai again, I will definitely choose Shangri-La. Thank you.

The property itself is very nice. However, my encountered with the check in staff was not pleasant. I was upset that I was forced to pay extra for my daughter. I had indicated 4 people for the reservation, but the staff forced me to pay extra because my daughter was considered an adult since she’s over 12 years old. I was offered 2 options, pay $150 for the extra person or $250 for a room upgrade. Also, the staff didn’t care to offer complimentary breakfast for my 10 year old son even when we have 3 paying adults with free breakfast. The guy wanted me to pay $30 extra if we want breakfast for my son. All in all, I didn’t feel the staff was welcoming, helpful or kind. I just felt like how much more money we can squeeze out of you.

This was our first time staying at a Shangri-La hotel, and unfortunately, it was a deeply disappointing experience. While the hotel grounds and property are decent, the service and attention to guest needs were severely lacking. First, we had requested and were promised adjoining rooms for our large family, but this was not honored. Instead, we were placed in rooms on the same floor, but far apart. Additionally, the rooms were not ready until 4:30 PM, well past the guaranteed check-in time of 3 PM. From there, things continued to go downhill. Room service failed to clean our room unless specifically requested, and even then, they didn’t change the sheets or replenish basic necessities like toilet paper, coffee, sugar, or water. It also became apparent that the hotel was severely understaffed and couldn’t keep up with the number of guests. Most of the staff did not speak English well enough to understand even basic requests. While they would often reply with “yes,” it was clear they didn’t understand what was being asked, and nothing would be done to resolve the issue. The front desk staff were unhelpful and rude, often behaving as though they were doing us a favor by addressing our concerns. The food quality was subpar, and to make matters worse, we became ill after eating at the hotel. Overall, this was an extremely disappointing experience. The Shangri La was a lovely way to see Chiang Mai and to organize a day trip to Chiang Rai. The staff are exceptionally professional and kind. Shout-out to Mr. Chaou and the Concierge team. The housekeeping staff made our stay comfortable and when we were sick with a cold they brought us complimentary hot tea. Great memories thank you.

Not to a usual Shangri La standard. Recently stayed at Shangri-la Sydney for the same price! Rooms are very tired. Bath towels and bed linen of standard quality. No bed topper/softener. Towels very small and standard. Breakfast very basic and not high quality sadly and coffee very weak. Sadly not getting value for money here. Receptionist couldnt find my reservations upon arrival. Could see room assigned on registration card but he tried to sell an 'upgrade' to which i said no thanks but then got the same room as shown and said it was a complimentary upgrade!! Security : walk in lobby and scan all bags ... park underground and scanners are off so whats the point ??
