Pros: The room was great, good size, spacious, with separate seating area (there was an issue with the shower which left the carpet in front of the room wet after showering) Cons: Overall, the location is a bit unfortunate, the view from the restaurant is right on the football stadium which is 5 meters away and just not very aesthetic, we ended up getting ubers to go anywhere because it's not a very walkable location with high traffic streets on all sides of the hotels and barely any footpath, despite being so close to the Bosphorus it wasn't ideal to just walk down there as the hotel is surrounded by expressways. The breakfast was fine, but for a 5 star and it being the ritz I would have expected more and better options, such as a la cart options, barista made coffee etc. To get to the spa, you have to pass a floor that goes into a carpark with isn't a very relaxing atmosphere and smells like petrol. The lobby of the hotel is very small, no seating area other than 2 chairs and seems outdated.

Beautiful hotel property perched above a central area to the main attractions. Breakfast is sensational with attentive staff. Check in was a breeze and our room was ready prior to check-in time. Great restaurant options in the hotel and close to other key sights. Our stay was very comfortable from the breakfast, the pool area, the gym to drinks. Spacious rooms for 2 guests.

They have a nice outdoor bar with a small pool, however, they rent it out to private parties and the hotel guests are NOT allowed to use it. We were very disappointed by this as we were looking forward to sitting by the pool enjoying the view and having drinks. At the very least they should have told us that it was closed at check-in. Instead they offered to move us to a hotel down the street which was half the price. They also wouldn't cancel our reservation and made us sit at the check-in counter for 30 minutes while they figured out a way to make us stay. I don't usually complain but we wanted to celebrate our anniversary at the hotel and the experience was disappointing.

The Spa was excellent. My husband and I enjoyed a couple’s Turkish Bath.Kadeck, my massage therapist was very attentive and in tune to the body. The facilities were very nice in the sub level of the Ritz and had an large indoor pool. The outdoor pool has a beautiful view of the Bosphorus but the space and the pool are very small. The 4 restaurants at the hotel are all very high quality and the prices reflect that. Also, beware that they do not include the tax on the bill but then charge it to you when you check out. There are so many very good restaurants in Istanbul that are great prices and include the taxes in the price. They are usually just one street outside the tourist areas. Also, the location of the Ritz is among a network of very busy streets and is on a hill so there are no property grounds to relax on and you have to walk up a big hill to get get to Taksim Square or down the hill to catch the tram, if you want to go out. They have taxis waiting but another reviewer said they charge double so we did not take them. The staff were very nice.

We booked and paid for a premium king room with a full Bosphorus view. When we checked into our room, we had a view of another structure 20 feet from the room. When I called to change our room, the front desk literally told me “yea well you’re on the 3rd floor so there’s not a full view there”. What kind of response is that? It’s not my fault or responsibility that I’m on the 3rd floor and therefore I don’t get the view I paid for. They didn’t have any other rooms available that night and told us they’d change our rooms in the morning. So we didn’t unpack that night. Woke up, reminded them of the change, and went out for the day. Came back around 6PM - which is ample time for them to change rooms for us - and a new room wasn’t ready. After I expressed my unhappiness, a room became available in 5 mins. Fine, thanks. Even worse than this, some floors of this hotel are smoking floors. Every time someone lit a cigarette, the smell of it came into the room through the ventilation. It was disgusting. One morning we were woken up at 6am in the morning with the literal smell of raw sewage. I ran to the bathroom to see if our toilet overflowed or something. Nope. Somewhere I guess something happened with a toilet or sewer system, and the smell came into our room through the ventilation. We had to shower and dress with this smell. When I complained about this, I was asked if we had any accidents… no. Said they send somebody to clean our toilets. Great problem solving, thanks.

First the mattress was bad, too soft, and my partner has a bad back. It took all day and numerous people to get a different one and in all honesty - only when we threatened to leave the property did people move. Secondly there was a massive party on the rooftop with over the top music from midday to midnight. No warning or memo - just noise and completely ruining the atmosphere and not letting us rest!

After a long week of travel of was excited to stay at the ritz Carlton for relaxation in lux accommodation. Unfortunately it was anything but. There was a rave going on next door and for three nights we barely got any sleep. Many guests complained with no compensation offered. Also the hotel is not central it takes 20 plus minutes to get into town and the only taxis that are stationed at the ritz charge 3x regular price. The hotel itself was fine, but not really luxury. The elevators barely work and took 10 min to arrive.

Good 5 star hotel but the mattress, carpet and air conditioning is a bit tired. The housekeeper will always adjust your thermostat to 22, but it needs to be left at its lowest setting if 18.5C to keep the room comfortable (adjust the fan level instead). Our keys frequently stopped working to unlock the door, twice after being just made at the front desk just before heading upstairs to the room. Baffled even the staff that needed to accompany you to make sure the new key could open the door: NOT

When you walk into the hotel, you and your bags have to go through security, which feels strange. It makes you feel safe and unsafe at the same time. The hotel room was great and the restaurants were all good, but the concierge was extremely slow and not very helpful. Also, the location is not really on the Bosphorous. It is a high rise that has some views of it, but it is set back on a hill and is a good walk away from the activity. There is a very busy read beneath it, and a concert venue across the street, which is very loud at night.

We booked 2 rooms and was told early check in is subjected to room availability (fair enough) and the guaranteed check in time was 3pm. However when we check in at 3pm, they told us one of the room isn’t ready but will be ready in a few mins, guess what..,we only got the other room at 6pm and was then told the reason is because we requested rooms close to each other when we did the reservation, why wasn’t that convey to us at 3pm? We were so tired after the flight so imagine the frustration and the long wait.. there was really loud music on one of the nights we stayed.. kept me awake until 130am…otherwise it was a good stay and bf spread was good too.

I cannot downplay just how terrible our experience here was. After a long flight and delay, we came to our hotel excited to stay at the ritz carlton. Upon arrival, we were informed that they had overbooked the king room we payed extra for and we would be forced to stay in 2 twins on our HONEYMOON. We were obviously furious and they didn't do anything to compensate for the lower tier room. We eventually did get into our room the next night but were only staying for two nights before a trip to Capodccia so we essentially got 8 hours in the room we payed for. Once we left we got the cherry on top - our food and beverage stipend was not honored and they refused to deduct it from our final bill. Speaking to both the staff and the management, no one was willing to help us and it was certainly not the standard I would expect from the brand.For those considerring a stay, I would advice to avoid the headache and look to other hotels in the area which offered a much better experience at half the cost and closer to the Sultanahmet.

Poor English speaking staff, Unfriendly and lack professional courtesy. They basically don’t know how to greet guests or smile. Only the duty manager Ahmed this gentleman was outstanding, courteous and friendly and yes he smiles. Watch out from Spa they are professional thieves

The location being on a steep hill is difficult to get in and out of the property. It is not near any shopping attractions other than the palace and some cafe by the sea at the bottom of the hill. The hotel does have plenty of nice restaurants including Nobu, which serves fresh sushi.

Great service. Responsive to the customer needs! Would recommend this property. The only con is that it is on a steep hill so be prepared to do a lot of uphill walking and wear comfortable shoes.

Our room was a Premier King Room with view of the Bosphurus. Instead we have a full view of the stadium and a glimpse of the Bosphurus way beyond the stadium. Also the 3 nights we were there, there was an outdoor concert close by and we could hear the loud music till past midnight. Not what I expected from Ritz Carlton. The staff esp the Bellboy, Door Executive and Concierge we're lovely and deserve a thumb up.

The hotel was normal, clean and safe. Staff were attentive. The main restaurant, a One star Michelin, was not up to par. I had 6 guests and the guy in-charge was unqualified to serve nor was the food anything to write home about. The PR and the restaurant manager met with me the next morning and apologized. They were kind enough to give me some sweets. They were very professional.

Outstanding service, excellent facilities particularly its restaurants & some rooms have good views of the Bosporus strait. We particularly like their main restaurant Atoyle. Their lobby bistro also has excellent food. And the Staff all over the hotel are ready to be of service.

The facilities are wonderful. Having breakfast overlooking the Bosporus sea with a great buffet was wonderful. The French Pastries and cafe was great . The NOBO restaurant was far from the NOBO reputation . I may have selected poorly but three items were tasteless or worse .

Not worth the money. Sub par food and service. The first night we had dinner at Limore - their Italian restaurant. My husband ordered the mushroom and cheese pizza AND THERE WAS A BUG IN IT. What's worse - Not only did they not comp our meal, they tried to CHARGE US FOR THE HALF EATEN BUG INFESTED FOOD. The breakfast is 45€ pp, and is so BASIC and tasteless. The hummus had no flavour, the vegan options for three days in a row was baked beans, cold stiff toast and a runny tasteless avocado puree. I had to risk the non vegan options just to have some food to eat. Service is super slow even though a lot of the staff and the floor manager can be seen crowded around the service station, chatting and laughing. I ordered room service for lunch one day and they didn't bother bringing it to us till we called to follow up. The positives - rooms are roomy and comfortable, but cost a BOMB to upgrade; the spa is very good we had the hamam and the two women who hamamed us were very good. It is expensive - €313 for hamam and a sheet mask at the end. Nobu was good too but people can smoke inside the restaurant where you are eating and the 'plant based' section of the menu is not vegan as some dishes have butter in them. This is the third country where we've stayed at the Ritz, after Singapore and China, and Istanbul is the worst. Not up to standard at all, not worth the money. My advice? Stay at the Marmara instead.
