The Port Carling River House

We had a great experience during our recent stay at Port Carling House!! Unique and very friendly atmosphere! Super clean!! Cool gathering area around the indoor bar and nice decks. Would definitely stay there again. But would stay longer, we only needed it for one night. Highly recommend....you won't be disappointed!

My booking showed it was a bright room with a window and patio door, but when I checked in, I found it was a basement room. The boss likes his guests to sit around the bar and communicate with each other, which is a good idea. We ate the apple pie made by the boss, and it was really delicious.

Unfinished basement unit. Shared bathroom. No railing on the stairs (16 steps). Numerous noisy occupants, including children and a baby in a common area.

Our host was very kind and very welcoming and even made us apple pie to taste. The property is new and what is advertised on Expedia and the pictures you see are totally different from the room we actually got to live in, so they need to change that. However there was an obnoxious person at the property who was drunk and even had our alcohol that we had stored at the shared kitchen in the fridge without asking us. We were told no one would touch our stuff but in the end we only had 1 can remaining. How kind of them!

Will go again
