What guests think

At Suburban Studios Albuquerque Uptown, many guests appreciate clean, budget friendly rooms with kitchenettes and helpful staff, while others report dated features, occasional maintenance issues, and a surrounding area that can feel rough despite lighting, cameras, and gated security.

Several reviews note a quiet setting tucked off main roads with proximity to highways, hospitals, and shopping. On the downside, cleanliness is inconsistent, with reports of smells, dirty floors, and occasional pests; parking can be tight, Wi-Fi unreliable, TVs finicky, and noise or activity from residents and the neighborhood sometimes disruptive. Expect a no-frills extended-stay setup suited to budget travelers comfortable with an urban setting.

The property was a good place to stop and rest overnight. Was a bit worried about my vehicle due to surrounding area being really rough. Was nice to see they had armed patrol. The party in the parking lot was quite loud and distracting but was there to sleep and get back on the road so just disregarded it. Venturing out to get food proved interesting as there is a large population of homeless everywhere around the property. The guy at the front desk was welcoming and helpful. Loved the large cat inside the office laying around. Was nice to have a sink and larger refrigerator while traveling with a small infant.

The staff was very friendly and checked me in promptly when I arrived. When I needed help with things in the room the front desk clerk came to assist promptly and answered questions I had. The only two issues I had was the refrigerator in the room was very loud so I had to unplug it for the night and the parking was not good. I had to park farther from my room.

The property was nice. It was gated and the security guard was present on site. The room was really cleaned. It did have a stove so it was nice to cook a meal. The bed was comfy and the tv worked fine. The shower was indeed hot. Which I loved. I will most likely stay here again and I will most definitely recommend.

Floors were so filthy, we permanently stained our socks, as we could not walk barefoot during our stay. Appliances and furnishings were not well maintained and were very outdated. We did not trust that the plates, utensils and glasses had been cleaned. The shower head was essentially broken as it sprayed all over except in the direction a shower head should. The neighborhood was full of indigent people, including those who make it a more permanent residence.

This was the dirtiest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. - The floors in the room were covered in dirt, dust, and debri. - The lamps throughout the room were coated in dirt and dust - The bathroom didn’t appear as it had been cleaned before we checked in. There was a sign that said they’ll charge you for stained towels but don’t mention that they’ll be supplying you with stained towels. The tub was disgusting and had a black ring around the bottom. The toilet was odd and seemed slanted or not secured to the floor. When turning on the faucet in the bathroom, dirt and small bugs came out from the seams - The kitchen was the worst. None of the utensils or plates provided had been cleaned prior. There was still food or dirt caked on. The fridge and microwave didn’t look like they’d been cleaned in a while. As we were packing up to leave, 2 roaches crawled out of the side of the fridge. Needless to say, we threw out all the food we had stored in the fridge. I would never stay here again nor would I recommend it to anyone.

The room was very clean. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom needs to some restoration. Old water damage on the inside of the bathroom door, the vanity, and mold in the grout of the tiles. The refrigerator had dents and damage on the surface, but it worked and was extremely clean inside. The counter tops were damaged. The Wi-Fi didn’t work at all for the two days we were there. The television didn’t seem to work properly switching to channels I wasn’t selecting, and remaining on one channel. The remote to the tv was missing the cover to the battery compartment, so maybe that caused the tv problems, I don’t know.

One of the two beds we had was very firm and uncomfortable. This is a property with residents living here, and some late night and early morning activity and noise, including dogs. The manager was able to get a resident to silence their dog after we complained, but I wouldn’t pick an extended stay place or a place that allows dogs again.

I was staying two nights. After the first night, still in bed, a knock came on the door, at about 9 AM. I opened the door and a man claimed to be maintenance and said he needed to change the alarm battery. He said his name was Mark. I let him in. He took a chair, stood on it, changed the bulb, and on his way out, said "You're welcome," in a sarcastic manner. I was still sort of in sleep mode and was unable to take in what was really happening. His remark seemed unnecessary and rude.

Had a nice weekend stay for the balloon fiesta, and managed to get a room even though my trip was last-minute. No issues with the pet fee, and I was thankful that the floor was not carpeted, as that tends to get messier and hold more dirt and germs than vinyl. Simple, no-frills place with a full fridge, cooktop, microwave, coffee maker, and dishes for 2. Walmart is nearby if you forget anything, as they don’t have some of the extras that a regular hotel might have (like a comb), but not a big deal. Would recommend it.
