A stylish and interestingly reimagined take on the period Route 66 motel. Our room was compact but thoughtfully appointed with interesting features (a glitter ball) and custom features and fixtures everywhere. There are even two beautiful robes that you can wear to the pool or communal fire pit. The only negative was the breakfast. You are given a voucher which you present at a window outside on the car park. There is usually a queue to do this and a wait to place your order as this is done each time for each guest. The choice is very limited but satisfactory. After another longish wait, the food arrives through the window in a styrene box. On the days that we were there, it was, both times, somewhat tepid. It seemed that there was one person who was responsible for organising, taking orders, cooking and coordinating and so I don't want to criticise them as they were working hard, but you should be aware. However there are plenty of great breakfast options in and around Flagstaff. I'd recommend the Americana for a fun, quirky experience.

The information on Hotels.com boasted that the price you see included everything. That was NOT the case. Either the property management was pulling a fast one or Hotels.com needs to clarify with the owners but we were charged a $20/day "amenities" fee. Among the listed amenities were "free" Wifi, poolside bar, towels, and a few other very common and usually included items. The poolside bar (which was the single most important feature to us, the reason we chose this property over several others) was not open. We were told it closes after Summer. That would have been nice to see mentioned in the description. The room had no refrigerator. There is only one ice maker for the entire hotel, which since they don't offer mini fridges becomes a bigger deal. The information for the property also mentioned that desk staff is there from 7:00am to 10:00pm daily. When we arrived we saw a sign on the locked doors that said the desk help would arrive after 2:00. We called the number and someone did show up after about 40 minutes. We arrived around 2:15 and were hoping to get an early check-in. By the time we settled everything it was regular check-in time, that is 4:00pm. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. The cleaning staff was quite friendly and courteous. The desk help was another story.

Super clean, great vibe, friendly staff. Would definitely stay again. Our room could have used a new mattress but it was such a nice hotel. We left at 6:45 before breakfast was served or the front lobby was open for coffee or tea.
