50 people in queue/ 2 desks, took 30 minutes to check in. Loud booming music in the foyer, couldn’t hear to talk ! Restaurant’s full, delay to get meal. Otherwise, very convenient, across from the main station. Lovely old hotel.

The first room we were put in smelled like a public washroom. We thought we could tough it out, but after less than ten minutes it seemed silly to stay in that room with the price we were paying. The smell was horrendous. The staff were wonderful about changing our room, and we got one with a view of the CN Tower but then at 3 am that night the clock alarm went off in the adjoining room to ours. It became clear after a while that no one was in that room so we had to call down to the front desk to get someone to come in and turn the alarm off. The next night, that same room was occupied by three very loud people. Because the rooms were adjoining, they might as well have been right in our room because there was no sound proofing at all. By 2 am the kids and I were exhausted and I was compelled to knock on the door and ask that they please talk quieter. Credit to them, they immediately quieted. Otherwise, there was an empty liquor bottle behind the dresser, and the motion activated closet light went on and off consistently through the night though the door was shut and no one was moving. It did not help with trying to sleep. All in all, not a great stay. We go to Toronto often but I'll be choosing a different hotel next time. It was our first time back here since the pandemic and unfortunately, it wasn't the stay we had hoped for.

Like most Fairmonts, very dated. This one definitely gets the express cleaning job. There was old business notes from the previous guest left behind and the base of the toilet was gross. The shower shuts off intermittently while using it.

Booked this room to go to a concert that was cancelled. Kept the room (non-refundable). Hotel emailed to ask about the special occasion - parental bday - and they’d like to “do something” for my mother. Nothing happened. Why even email? Check in was a wait as lots of people were at hotel for 1pm. They gave us a room early. Very kind. Room smelled of damp. Concierge and maintenance did nothing. Carpet was wet. In the end we opened the window and lumped it. Disappointing as I love the Savoy (Fairmont) and wanted this to be an amazing stay. Was disappointed. Highlight - we went to the library for a cocktail. Our martini was made incorrectly and changed immediately. Extra brine and olives brought over. Lovely touch. View of CN TOWER and Rogers was great. Overall - this isn’t the Royal York stay I wanted and disappointed with the room. Old and scuffed. Soggy floor was gross. View great. Love Le Labo products. Not worth money or need better room to make it worth money.

Room was neglected - way too hot - had to turn AC and then it was way too cold - the bathroom was the worst - extreme hot showers - or no water - the toilet didn’t flush unless you held on for 5 min or so - just because I rented the room at a good rate through hotels.ca it seems like they give the less then ideal room - in my opinion either renovate or don’t rent them - when someone rents a Fairmont they expect a great experience- not a 💩💩 sandwich wrapped in expensive wrapping paper

The telephone in the room did not work and I could not call the front desk or any other service. I discovered the problem the morning that I checked out, so it was too late to do anything for me. Also it took a very long time to get hot water in the shower and bathroom sink. It was repaired quickly and shows the excellent efficiency of the staff.

Booked a one night stay in a luxury king room. Line up to checkin but it went very quickly and smooth . Staff very friendly. Disappointed in the room as it was very small and so was the bathroom. The room was so hot and the air conditioning was very poor so much that we asked for a fan. Bed was reasonably comfortable. I would stay again at the hotel especially for the location, as it was clean and staff were friendly but it was not worth paying the extra for a Luxory room.

I love old-timey hotels and don't mind shabby-chic decor, except my room felt dated, like stuck in the 80s or 90s.. Overall, the room felt like a 3-star hotel with a 5-star price tag.

Check in is very slow. Staff not managing line ups to check in, resulting in confusion and prolong waiting at front desk. They should rope off unwanted line up zones so next in line is fair. Having to go at the end of a long line up after waiting in the line up that gets you nowhere really ruins the experience. The staff is good and hotel is great.

I love that this hotel is across the street from Union Station making it very convenient to get around downtown. It is also within walking distance to plenty of restaurants and attractions downtown as well. Staff are fantastic, check in and out were a breeze! But the best part is that if you are staying at the hotel you can store your luggage before and after your stay making it much more relaxing and easier to navigate the city if you have plans to visit any attractions. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone!

Location was the main key, close to every venue and tourist attraction possible. Union station across the street. Trains, buses, taxis cheap and easy to access. Plenty of restaurants of all prices within walking distance. Beds were comfortable, room was cleaned very well. Room was extremely quiet even on weekends and after Blue Jays games. Hotel staff was very helpful.

This is supposed to be a 5 star hotel. They charge a 5 star price. The room was possibly last updated in the 1970's. Wall paper scratched, furniture chipped, carpet horrible brown, bathroom ceiling paint peeling, lighting poor, unsure if room was clean. We had an amazing time this past week at the Fairmont Royal York! My 4th time this year! Upon seeing the large line checking in after a long weekend, I decided to try and see if we could upgrade to the FG floors, so glad we did! The Lounge and rooms have been refreshed and look stunning! There's nothing like drinking a cup of tea at that lounge high above the city. Will always check availability at the Fairmont when trying to stay in Toronto.
