The location was nice, and the rooms and hotel were clean. The Marketplace was very nice, and the staff in there were great every time. The bar was nice too. BUT there were two glaring issues that stand out and will prevent us from returning. First, the hotel room bathroom doors are MISSING! No bathroom door, just an open area, where the toilet has a glass see thru door that doesn't provide any privacy and the shower, when you step out you have no privacy to dry off and get dressed! This is very awkward for families and colleagues. We had to take turns and leave the room until someone was done showering. This was very inconvenient. Coming back in the door we had to make sure they were dressed, since there was no privacy. The hotel should AT THE VERY LEAST put up a curtain! Very poor design. The other issue we encountered was parking. The garage was not attached, it was a block away but difficult to find. We had to drive around the block a few times (in traffic which took 15 minutes) to find it. The garage was almost completely full when we pulled in and we heard other guests say they could not find parking at all, yet they paid for parking all weekend. They have a first come first serve, so if you have to leave for any reason, you have a good chance of not getting a spot. This is very bad being in downtown Portland and the price of parking being expensive as it is. So the missing bathroom doors for privacy and the parking issue have us unlikely to return.

Parking and arriving is a cluster! Narrow street so getting in with cars headed both ways was bad enough, but once we got in we were told that the parking you have to pay for was completely full including valet. They do not make sure they have enough parking available for guests checking in. We had to park about a half mile away and then walk with all of our luggage. The front desk was less than helpful and we were told by management that it is what it is and there was nothing they could do for us. So you pay for your hotel which does not include the parking that is an additional charge but it is not a guarantee it will be available. As well as they charge a “destination fee” so an additional charge outside of the room taxes and fees. Charging for parking is one thing but at the very least they need to make sure they have parking available for there actual guests and not use it as public parking!

The room I booked was a king, I was given a double queen. We arrived to check in to the hotel with little time to spare to get to our event. When we arrived to our room I realized it was a double queen not the king I booked. I messaged the hotel desk and went to the event. They never replied…at check out when I was asked about my stay I let them know I had booked a king and was given a double queen that I had messaged the front desk and never received a reply. I was told the double queen was an “upgrade” and there probably hasn’t been any more kings available. When you book a king a double queen is in no universe an upgrade. I should have had the king bed I booked.
