What guests think

At Best Western Plus Rapid City Rushmore, travelers consistently highlight very clean, modern rooms, friendly and accommodating staff, a better-than-expected free breakfast, and a convenient location near I-90 and the airport for visiting Black Hills attractions.

Common drawbacks include firm beds and lumpy pillows for some sleepers, limited stayover housekeeping unless requested, and occasional maintenance issues such as elevator glitches, false fire alarms, hot-tub temperature, or brief water and Wi-Fi outages. While pet friendly with a designated outdoor area, several reviews noted odors in some pet rooms and surprise or restrictive pet policies and fees. Overall, expect a quiet base with solid value for exploring the area.

Stayed 2 nights for a girls getaway. We loved the room, hot tub, and breakfast. The hotel was quiet and we had the pool/hot tub to ourselves. It was close to fast-food (Taco Bell, Taco Johns, Arby's, McDonald's, and Starbucks) and next to a gas station. We did not love the luggage carts. They were hard to manage with hand releasing brakes.

The property is in a good location of Rapid City; easy access to shopping, dining, downtown, etc. The hotel is clean and the breakfast buffet is very good. One complaint I will make is that the rules at the pool/hot tub area are not enforced. There are many young children (12 and under) that occupy the pool/hot tub area unattended with no parents, yelling/jumping in and out with floats, etc. until 11 PM at night.

Originally booked for 3 nights but only ended up staying 1. Pool was small and hot tub average size. A group of younger kids was ignoring the signage and diving in both areas leaving no space for others. Workout equipment didnt have sanitization wipes avaliable. Breakfast is adequate and busy hour of 7:30-8:30am. Room above us was very loud with heavy footsteps from 9pm to midnight making it difficult to sleep even with the sound machine

The trash from the previous guest had not been removed from our room. The previous guest also left his card key on the coffee table and it was obvious not a lot of attention had been paid to the room after the previous guest checked out. When I brought this up to the front desk staff, he looked at me like I said something strange and I did not get even an apology from him as he sullenly took the bag of trash from me. I asked for two extra pillows and they were given to me, together with a few pillow cases for me to put them on myself. One of the pillow cases was soiled. The shelf below the bathroom was used to store extra towels and toilet paper. The shelf was dusty and obviously not been wiped down in a long time. We didn’t want to use the towels that were stored there.

Everything about the hotel was awesome. Newer property that is easy access to get in and out of and parking is a breeze. Right off the main road to head to Mt. Rushmore and other attractions. Breakfast was good everyday. We stayed 4 nights. The pool and hot tub were big and hot. Rooms are clean. They have signs that they don’t do maid services for stay overs because of short staff but can get everything you need like towels and trash bags. The elevator was a little sketchy and shook from side to side on one occasion and when we were checking out the person we rode the elevator with said him and his daughter got stuck on it. But it must of been a quick fix cause we were there 5days/4nights and we never seen it out of order.

Stains on the carpet. Spots all over the bathroom wall. For being 9.4 rating, the cleanliness was not good.

Arrived at 9:30 PM after a long day of travel and received a warm welcome from the front desk staff at check in. They were very informative and helpful! Our room was very clean and spacious. The beds were comfortable and had plenty of pillows. The bathroom was clean, great water pressure, and plenty of fluffy towels for our family of four. Breakfast was very good and had something for everyone—although some fresh fruit would be a good addition. Overall, my family was very comfortable with the clean and comfortable accommodations and friendly staff!

The property is fine, but the check in process was complicated as a result of the poor online reservation system . Although the property is dog friendly, the online form does not ask if you are traveling with a dog and then erroneously allows you to select any room you want. Only at check-in do you learn that dogs are allowed in only designated rooms, and then the poor clerk has to shuffle things around to get you in a dog approved room. It would be very easy to add a question asking if you are traveling with a dog. Also, the additional $25 PER DAY fee for the dog was a surprise. That information should be prominently displayed alongside the ‘we are dog friendly’ language.

Hotel location was good and room was a decent size. The breakfast was okay although very busy with limited seating and the lay out wasn’t ideal, with people hoovering in certain parts making access awkward. One thing that wasn’t ideal was the lack of housekeeping which was only provided if your stay was more than four days. Whilst limited housekeeping is understandable there should be a minimum daily standard of emptying the bins and replacing the bin liners and replenishing the coffee station and toiletries

The room was really clean. My only complaint is the bed. It was pretty hard. It’s harder to get a decent nights sleep and then drive for 12 hours when your hips and back are sore.
