Awesome view of the pier and lake. Very cute boutique hotel with restaurant/ nightlife.

Really nice boutique hotel. Very comfortable, cool vibe. Good location. Convenient bar restaurant on first floor and roof top bar as well. Would definitely stay again!

Had a really great experience!!! Gerri at the front desk was most helpful & super friendly!! Gave excellent suggestions on activities and food choices as well. The hotel restaurant Oh Taco is also very good!! Quick service, great selection of drinks, and even tasty food. We had lunch, dinner, and brunch here and all the food was top notch! The location is perfect as well, with good variety to walk to, plus the ferry picks up and drops off at the pier directly behind the hotel. I had a really great time for my first time in Sandusky and can't wait to rebook and visit again!

Rooftop bar was great

Great boutique hotel! Stayed here while in town for a wedding. Multiple public parking lots within walking distance. Everything was clean. The property has a taco restaurant below and a rooftop bar. Was a bit nervous after reading other reviews about the music/noise level. However, we stayed on the second floor and it was really quiet! No issues with noise at all. Walking distance to bars/restaurants/breweries and right by the lake. Would definitely stay here again!

The restaurant and bar above and below the hotel respectively were very nice and enjoyable to stop at. I also liked the decorations and how large and comfortable the bed was. It's a great area to walk around too with lots of shops and restaurants to try.

Sandusky has come a long way. The hotel is very cool. Lots of free public parking The shower head is a little rough.

The room was great and the hotel is really nice. Kids loved how many channels we had. Love that there’s food and drinks on site. Easy walk to ferry, shops, restaurants. There was some noise from neighbors, the A/C still left the room a bit stuffy, and I couldn’t find an ice maker and there wasn’t a freezer in the room, but I’d stay here again if we were in the area.

Only feedback would be the need for an ice machine. Otherwise a really cool spot!

Very cool hotel, taco spot downstairs is good, rooftop bar is nice, and waterfront views. Will stay again next time coming to cedar point.

Nice central area and very clean unique hotel!

Our stay was very nice, the bed was comfortable and clean. Only thing I complained about was that when we got back from our day housekeeping left our door opened, it was not latched thankfully nothing was missing in our room.

It is a great small boutique hotel. Very clean the beds were excellent. The hotel was centrally located to everything. Really enjoyed our stay.

Great welcome from a really wonderful staff. We loved our room. It was large, comfy, and clean. Great view of Lake Erie at the Jackson street pier. Some nice in early evening from outside the hotel, not surprising given the location, but we still felt comfortable. Thus our go to hotel when in the area. Highly recommended.

The stay was wonderful only one thing, it was hair in the shower

Very dusty room, bed was so uncomfortable and noisy, old flat pillows and so noisy they put earplugs on the nightstand

The description fails to mention that this “boutique hotel” has a bar below and above the rooms. The entire room smelled like stale beer. It was awful! Ever smelled a recycling bin that had beer cans in it for a while, that’s the smell. The top of the comforter also was very dirty and had long hair all over it. The price point is absolutely absurd! The bar/taco restaurant staff had a shocked look on their faces when I told them I had a room, must not be booked often. Their reviews and ratings online have to be fakes!! DO NOT STAY HERE!

Decor is top tier

The room itself was beautiful and the surrounding area is very cute. Unfortunately it’s very loud until quite late at night due to music from local bars and restaurants. This was the case on Thursday, as well as the weekend. We managed with white noise, but for anyone who needs silence for sleeping, it would be hard to sleep well.

The negative: My gf and I stayed in the room that was inconveniently located right above Oh Taco on a Saturday night. The music was loud and the earplugs they provide in the room (for obvious reason) did NOT help. I ended up having to go down at 1am to ask when they're closing. Otherwise, the room was nice and the location is great.

Hotel Kilbourne is a unique, boutique hotel with just 9 rooms right on the waterfront in Sandusky. It has an eclectic, artsy decor and a cute little bar and restaurant on-site. We didn’t get to try the rooftop bar (it was closed the day we were there) but the other bar/restaurant had a focus on Mexican food and an extensive tequila menu. Our room was billed as a “suite” and was very tiny. With a king-size bed and sofa (and mini fridge) squeezed in it, there was no room for a dresser OR closet. No problem if you were there for a quick trip, but if you were trying to hang up clothes for a longer stay or special occasion, it’s not possible. (The room did have four hangars on a hook.)I know the “industrial vibe” in the current style in hotels, but the super dark walls, floors, curtains, furniture and fixtures were too bleak.

Hotel Kilbourne is a cool little hotel right on the Pier with access to the Jet Express. The photos online are accurate. All the staff with whom we interacted were very helpful and personable. The room was comfortable, with everything you would need for a weekend stay.

The rooms were awesome and clean and decorated awesomely. There was yelling in the street which might be a regular occurrence because ear plugs were provided on the night stands.

A few issues, but not too bad. One- great having smart tv's, but you're at the mercy of the 'free' content or need to sign in to your own accounts. There was no app for our service, so couldn't watch basic broadcast, which would have been nice for Football games! Seems like a miss not to at least have basic cable in the rooms. 2nd issue was their lofty price for having a small dog- $100 felt excessive given there would be no added cleaning needs.

We checked in early, which was very nice that they let us do that, however its a very very slow manual process that took nearly 15 minutes. The room was ok, however the sink faucet is loose and about to fall off, the toilet paper holder is broken and about to fall off. The internet based tv barely works because the internet is so slow. The place has lots of potential but many things seem like and after thought.

We had a horribly disappointing stay in July. I was really excited about booking this non-chain hotel, but it was a headache from check-in until weeks after check out. We booked through Expedia/prepaid for the stay through the site. In order change our checking date to one day earlier, the hotel rebooked us and requested payment upon check-in. Even after advising them it had already been paid, we were asked to produce a credit card. We were charged for a 3rd person, even though the booking had been made for 3 people.. The room had a loud fan above the bed, a bright blue light coming from the refrigerator, and the world's worst, most uncomfortable mattresses. Checked out early as no one had gotten much sleep during our 3 night stay because of the awful mattresses, noise, and bright light situation. Nothing like leaving your vacation needing sleep and wanting to go home early. Returned home to find the initial charge AND an additional stay charge from the hotel on the credit card bill. Called the hotel twice to have one of the charges refunded. I was told they didn't believe this happened and claimed the hotel was not at fault, also that they were "very busy" so the manager could not come to the phone, "all the notes have been taken" and "a manager will get back to you". Manager didn't call. I called one more time to give the hotel a chance to check their records and issue a refund, with no luck. I then called Expedia and had a 40 minute phone conversation, during which a

Did not receive housekeeping daily—has to ask. No overnight front desk attendant. On day of checkout the elevator was not in service. We had to drag our luggage down 6 flights of stairs. Not cool.

Friendly staff

The gentleman at the desk was very kind and made you feel extremely welcome. He was very informative and helpful too!! The room itself was luxurious and relaxing. Never stayed anywhere that the bed was so heavenly!!! Can’t wait for another chance to stay!! Honestly, there isn’t enough room to rave enough about such a wonderful place to stay!

After seeing pictures we were very excited about spending our 1 evening on rooftop balcony! The woman tending bar was rude, unaccomodating, unfriendly & bar was cobwebs, gnats & bees. She used basil instead of mint in my mojito. My husbands drink was undrinkable. We asked for fire features & she refused. Said she was closing early when a large party had just shown up. Paid more attention to her 2 friends at bar than customers.

We stayed one night with my husband and two teenage boys. Not family friendly at all! Front desk staff seemed annoyed that we were even there. Loved the hotel room but would not stay there again due to not feeling very welcome.

Sitting in the shores of Lake Erie; just outside a public park with ferry boats to other islands and attractions; near a bike trail; walkable to dining and bar options, coffee etc.

This hotel is right across the street from the Jackson Street Pier. If you're planning a trip on Lake Erie from this docking area, it doesn't get any closer than Hotel Kilbourne. The room is really small and tidy. There is a bar on the main floor which is convenient. The folks working at this property couldn't have been any more inviting. Great experience for my wife & I.

Very convenient to the ferry to Kelly Island. Very nice hotel.

Beautiful hotel right by Lake Erie. So many fun places to walk to nearby. Had drinks at both the rooftop bar and the taco restaurant. Walked around the pier. Would definitely come back again. The room was beautiful and had great natural light. The bed was comfortable. Can’t wait to come back in the summer.

The Hotel was nice, but maybe showing a few signs of age. Upstairs bar was nice, downstairs restaurant ok. Limited menu, would look elsewhere for dinner out. Staff was polite and accommodating. I thought it a bit expensive for the what the property offered.
