We truly enjoyed our stay at The Gables. It’s a beautiful, eclectic old home in a nice neighborhood with a very friendly and responsive staff. They reached out right after our booking to make sure they were prepared for our stay and could accommodate any dietary restrictions. They again confirmed our dietary situation at check in while also making sure we were adequately settled into our room and aware of all amenities. Although there are a few parts of the house that are a little weathered (the beautiful porch could use a fresh coat of paint), it is overall lovingly maintained and very clean. It was obvious at breakfast that the owners have created a perfect setting because there was much lively conversation over the delicious meal that was prepared (for our only morning there it included two courses: first was fresh fruit and pumpkin bread, followed by a freshly-baked quiche, small side salad and toast, along with orange juice, coffee, and/or tea). The night prior we discovered a number of great dinner options within easy walking distance. Our beds were comfortable, the water pressure good for the shower, and the furnishings were beautiful. I highly recommend this to anyone visiting Philly and will definitely return ourselves when our travels take us back up that way!

Cesar was an exceptional host. The rooms were incredible and beautifully furnished as is the entire house. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious and so much more than we were expecting. Having parking in the middle of the city on the property was helpful. The trolley stops right across the street so you can get anywhere without having to drive and deal with traffic. We could not have been more pleased with our stay. We had a great experience. Cesar was an informative and accommodating host. We hope to stay here again when we visit Philadelphia again.

Overall this was a great B&B. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because there were zero ADA accommodations. I just happened to break my ankle a couple weeks before my trip, so carrying a big suit case up and down stairs (both inside and outside) was not fun. They did offer to carry my bag up to my room upon check in, but they were not around to help at check out. If I hadn’t broken my ankle and wearing a big boot, I probably wouldn’t have even thought about this being an inconvenience, and would have given 5 stars.

The Gables is a magnificent 19th century building. The owners have done a great job of decorating and restoring to reflect the period of the home. My wife has dietary restrictions, and the staff fully accommodated her. Breakfast is served at eight, but Cesar gladly fed us at 6:30 so we could catch a flight. The grounds are beautiful, with a wraparound porch. Off street parking is available. Location is excellent, with a trolley stop right in front of the house. Good restaurant selection within an easy walk. Bottom line: this is one of the most beautiful places I’ve stayed. I would love to stay there again, and eagerly encourage friends and family. Just an exceptional place with personalized service run by people who truly do whatever they can to accommodate their guests. Cesar is an extremely friendly guy as well!
