Stayed 9 nights

Overall, we had a great stay at Villa Sonata, but the first couple of days were unnecessarily stressful. We had booked and paid for a family room for five people and were given two connected rooms, which suited us perfectly. The next day we were told this was a mistake and were asked to move to a much smaller unit with one bedroom and three extra beds in the kitchen/living area, without air conditioning. We declined. During the discussion, a staff member told us he would have money deducted from his salary if we refused to move. The hotel later said this was not their policy. What makes the situation hard to understand is that Villa Sonata's own website describes its family room as two separate rooms for up to six people, with photos and pricing that closely match what we actually stayed in. After that rocky start, the rest of our holiday was genuinely fantastic. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was good and we really enjoyed our time there. That is why the follow-up has been disappointing. I contacted the hotel afterwards and asked a simple question: which room category did we receive, and which one were they trying to move us to? After several days and a reminder, they replied, but did not answer that question. A very good stay overall, but an unnecessary situation that still has not been properly explained.
