What guests think

Across the reviews, The Maj Hotel stands out for its clean, modern rooms, friendly staff, and a walkable location near Philadelphia’s major museums and parks, appealing to travellers seeking a boutique, tech-forward stay at a fair price.

Rooms feature comfortable beds and high-tech controls (smart mirrors, app-based lighting), though a number of guests found the systems confusing, lighting insufficient, or the AC noisy. There is no on-site parking, but nearby garages and street parking are common; the lobby offers coffee and snacks, and breakfast operates on limited days with mixed feedback. Housekeeping is less frequent than daily, and many rooms lack a refrigerator, though fridges can be supplied on request. Expect a stylish, quiet base for museum visits with modern touches and a few practical trade-offs.

Great hotel with a friendly staff and walking distance from the Rocky steps and restaurants and bars. The room was a good size with a large window with a view of the city. The beds were very comfortable. Nice shower and linen. There was a parking lot walking distance from the hotel that only charged us 8.95 for 24 hour parking that the hotel staff provided us with the information.

The property is well located for museums and jogging trails along the river and otherwise a relatively easy 30 min walk to City Center and Rittenhouse Square. Parking was tricky - you had to circle the block at night to find an evening spot or go to a garage a few blocks away for $25 a night. During the day the most you could park anywhere was 2-3 hours (on the meters or in residential areas). Whole Foods is an easy walk away for food, but otherwise not much to eat super close by. The "smart" gym treadmill is unique- it has agility workouts and more options built in. No eliptical trainer in the gym, so it has limited cardio resources but a lot for those who like weights. The rooms do not have refrigerators but they do have "smart" mirrors that display maps and the weather forecast and nest devices to keep the room at the right temperature. I would return as the positives outweighed the negatives and the area was quiet compared to the traffic of city center.

The hotel was generally nice and very convenient located, no parking though. But with some google help u can find the parking in the vicinity. The staff is minimal and apparently they change the linen every 3 days, assuming the same comes to cleaning the rooms. I am not sure that I like that. Overall, pretty decent place for a short stay.

The lobby was beautiful and everything was clean. The rooms don’t have microwaves and fridge but right in the lobby there is a very cute self serve station where you can buy snacks and get ice and a microwave. The staff was very friendly. Our room was very nice and spacious too and the bedding seemed luxurious. My only issue unfortunately was there was multiple sticky spots on the carpet which I let them know of and later on my toddler found a single capsule, looked like a vitamin or probiotic on the floor… and thankfully he gave it to me and not put it in his mouth. It seemed like an oversight that whoever cleaned missed. I was disappointed that even with both those issues they didn’t offer to give me a discount or complimentary anything… There was a lot of great food places near by too. Seeing that most of the reviews were positive I would stay here again.

We found the rooms remarkable quiet and the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. The location, near three art museums and several restaurants is excellent. If we return to Philadelphia, we will probably stay there. That said, the hotel has some problems. It is an ultramodern, boutique hotel and we found the electrical fixtures bewildering. We are in our mid-70s, so maybe that's understandable, but the rooms definitely need more ceiling lights; with the curtain drawn, they are quite dark. Likewise, the rooms could use some creature comforts like some way to boil water in them, though the complimentary coffee in the cafe (really a kind of minimart) was excellent.

This is the best hotel I have ever stayed in. The beds are SO comfortable, the pillows are PERFECTLY thick (i.e. not the normal hotel pillows which collapse under the weight of your head, these are clearly expensive bedding, mattresses, and pillows). The staff is A++, super nice. Breakfast is amazing (got the avocado toast, would recommend!). The rooms are very high tech-enabled with easy to use thermostat among other accessories.

New hotel located near Philadelphia Museum of Art, though nothing much else in the vicinity. On trend decor (e.g. plants around lobby), comfy bed with nice linens. Very noisy AC - you can turn off noisy wall fan, but noisy ceiling system runs 24/7. Surprising that such a new hotel is providing single-use plastic mini toiletries. I found it style over substance - I don’t need internet in the bathroom mirror, but would like to switch off the lights by the bed without having to get out of bed and deal with complicated switches! Slippers would have been nice given the cold, tiled floors. No housekeeping.

Breakfast was not being served every day which was disappointing but great deli just across the street which took up the slack. My only critical remark is that there was only one desk-type chair in the room with two beds - so maybe more than one guest in the room requiring another chair? We could have asked and I'm sure they would have accommodated! They did bring in a small fridge at our request: no problem. Great spot: excellent little hotel!
