Flatiron Studio Near Madison Square Park

Loved the fact that I had free access to Blink gym 3 blocks from the property.Property in an ideal location.

Sonder Flatiron is great! A very big room for NYC. Great area. Close to subway. All keypad entry. It’s not a typical hotel. No front desk although they do have a lobby employee who is helpful. Always love a Sonder.

Unique location if you love vibrant street life. Easy to walk towards Empire or other way to Washington park. You basically rent a room with no other hotel facilities. Virtual key chain did not work properly which was quite annoying. Room windows were dirty that gave uncomfortable feeling. The staff was not always present or came late.

While the location is ideal I wouldn't recommend it for someone visiting NY for the first time. I had read the reviews where they mention how loud the nearby street noise was and although I have lived in NY before I had to sleep with earplugs (provided on the nightstand) from 3am to 6am because of how loud the street cleaning was on a Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. The hotel is ideal for someone staying by themselves who like their independence and don't want to be greeting by front desk staff. Although this hotel has a door man (someone just sitting behind a podium) not once did they greet us or open the door, hold the elevator door or simply give a smile. I'm guessing this staff position is more of a security front because I've never experienced such cold behavior at a hotel before. I stayed 4 nights and maybe on my last day the guard replied when I said "good morning" most of the time they avoid eye contact and simply do not interact with you. If you're expecting your room to be cleaned BEWARE they do not provide this service evehthough its a button option on the app but you quickly realize its just a button available for all their locations except the service is not provided (at this venue) why have a button that you think you can use just in case you want housekeeping to tidy up your room if the service isn't provided. Also you get one roll of toilet paper, 2 large towels, 2 hand towels and 2 face wash towels. Not sure how you would request more since there's no staff.

The shower had been worked on a caulk drop lets. The room itself was very clean. Almost like the plumber came and stained and droppped caulk drop lets on shower and no one told the cleaning crew. As the rest of the bathroom hotel room clean. Also was not clear on booking self check in. So really not hotel it is rental

Overall it was a nice experience, but there were information that was given us only after the reservation, for exemple, there was only one conplimentary cleaning in the room during 11 days of stay. One elevator was not working during most of stay. Noisy region during weekend nights.

Way overpriced. No amenities. They advertise a gym access to Blink Fitness. Not true. Blink suspended them. The room is tiny, beat up and doesn’t look like the pictures online. The elevator is really shoddy. There are many much nicer hotels in the area for the same price. I will never stay at a Sonder hotel again.

The soundproofing for the rooms is very bad. I can hear people talking and footsteps at the street level. There was also some construction going on at 2am. The noise was unbearable. The ear plugs they provided did not help. Bathroom in the room is also in desperate need of an upgrade. Room cleaning must be scheduled through their app otherwise, they will not come into your room to clean. For this price, I might as well book Hilton. On the bright side, location and ease of check in was great.

This is great if you want just out of the bustle. Rooms are very noisy on a Saturday night. Okay during the rest of the week. Staff are friendly but needing to download another app to buy some simple things like water is just not great.

Room was spotless. Shower was great, bed was pretty comfy. Neighborhood is great. Only gripes: coffee machine was broken and room temperature control didn’t seem to work.

I liked the location, I liked my room, the bed was great and so were the pillows. The shower experience was 5 star. However, not so clean! Hair here and there, the place could use a good wipe down! I wasn't there long so it wasn't much of any issue. It's as if the hired cleaners have not been trained how to properly clean a room. Also, the room is stuffy. AC resolved the problem for me, and it was 45 degrees outside and raining. It would probably be terrible if one needed the heater instead of the AC.

The location was great. Bed ok. The bathroom wasn't very clean, hair on the floor didnt have extra towels accessible easily. Wouldn't stay here again.

Room needed some maintenance. I have visited a couple Sonders and all seem to be lacking maintenance. This room's bathroom smelled a bit mildewey. When I turned on the shower, water poured out of the shower pan, through the shower curb, and onto the rest of the floor. That solves the mystery. The shower was leaking all over the rest of the room. The leak was HUGE. There is no way that this went unnoticed. This was just a lack of maintenance. The rest of the room was fine. It was quite small but it was comfortable. The bed was comfy and she sheets were clean. The floor looked like it needed a good mopping and scrub because it was dirty. The property gives you a code to get in the doors instead of a key card but all of the key pads were kind of worn out.

We expected a normal trip to New York as we typically stay at 4 star hotels. We were disappointed to say the least. Our bathroom was small, leave the door open to use the toilet, the shower could use a good cleaning.

I experienced several issues with my room that impacted my stay. The noise level was quite high and earplugs weren't sufficient to block it out. The bathroom had mold and felt dirty overall. The walls throughout the room need attention - the paint is chipping and requires a fresh coat. I was surprised to find no water available in my room, not even for the coffee machine. There wasn't a water fountain anywhere in the hotel, and when I asked about purchasing water, I was directed to the closest CVS. The windows were very dirty, and I noticed dust accumulated in every corner of the room. I do want to emphasize that the location is great, and the reception staff were absolutely lovely - the lady who checked me in was the kindest and most helpful person. This feedback is purely about the property condition, not the service. My main concern is that I paid a high rate per night, which set much higher expectations for the room quality. At this price point, I felt disappointed with what I received and honestly feel a bit ripped off. Had I paid a cheaper rate, I wouldn't have had the same level of concerns about these maintenance issues.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Great location in central Manhattan. Our room could have been cleaner and we found random dirt items including old contact lenses on the floor of our room suggesting the floors hadn’t been cleaned. There were also dirt markings all over the white walls and stains on table tops and the chair. Otherwise I would consider staying here again given the location, safety of the property, and price.

The hotel is located in an amazing and safe area. Unfortunately the check in process is not great. The room is small as expected but you could barely get into the bathroom with how the toilet is placed and the door doesn't swing open all the way. The floor in the bathroom was dirty, the shower drain had hair in it, the ceiling vent had dust on it that flew down when you turned it on and the bathroom vanity cabinet was broken and beat up. The room space is decent, but the bedding is really bad. It's a synthetic fiber comforter that has been washed so much that the fibers just clump into certain areas and should be thrown out. Definitely not what I expected.

I went downstairs to let the staff know, and they were not the most hospitable. They sent a cleaning team up to re-clean our room on arrival. When the cleaning team came, the did not knock and opened the door on us. Thankfully my wife was in the bathroom with the door shut, but it was pretty uncomfortable. The cleaning crew did not fully clean the room either, they missed the mirror in the bedroom area, the vents in the bathroom still had dust buildup on them, and the shower seals showed visible signs of mold. The staff brought new cups and glasses and offered us a $100 credit to our stay. However, be warned. If you stay longer than 4 days, they don’t have cleaning service included and you have to pay $35 to have a cleaning team come. They did not even have someone come replace the linens, refill toilet paper in the bathroom, or even make the bed. This is something you expect in a budget hotel, but for the price we paid, there are other hotels in the area of midtown that offer better hospitality and services. The rooms were also fairly cheap feeling. The furniture was IKEA grade wood and there was a general sense of cost cutting throughout the hotel. I would not recommend Sonder hotels, at least this midtown location.

Huge room! The bed was comfy, the shower was pleasant and everything was as expected. It was quiet for NYC standards - the windows must be thick! The area is vibrant and full of people enjoying restaurants and shopping.

Our room is facing the street and is very noisy and we were unable to sleep the whole night, despite wearing the earplugs.

The AC did not work my entire stay. And they wouldn’t send someone to look at it until the morning of my check out

Great room. Room temperature was either freezing or warm. Shower water temperature was either scalding or cold. Internet was virtually non existent. Great location!

It’s was a great stay but the windows were very thin making the noise outside very loud and hard to sleep

The location is good and the staff is friendly. The problem is noise. The wall is thine so I heard people talking and TV. It’s noisy outside too.

Not a conventional hotel and the lack of traditional amenities take some getting used to. However would like to mention that staff were very helpful and this went a long way to make our stay pleasant and productive.

The room was well kept and the toiletries were complete. The shower space is a little too small though but there was a lot of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel available. The dispenser pump of the shampoo was defective though. The staff were accommodating and quickly responded to requests for assistance such as cleaning arrangements. The online check-in and check-out experience was seamless and convenient. Generally, our experience was quite good.

the staff were very nice but check is was a hassle; codes did not work; when i went to request room cleaning first morning on line at 7am and it would not work they told me it had to be requested at check in; no one told me that; coffee machine spewed grinds, show dispenser pumps broken and with all the hard surface the room next door was too loud.

There was an issue with their booking system and they had to move me to a nearby hotel. The communication around this was not handled well, I found out about the issue when I received an email regarding having a card on file for the new hotel. It took several calls and chats to find out that I was being moved to a new hotel and to confirm that I had a room. I received an email as I was boarding my flight to NYC that my stay had been cancelled. Overall the actual hotel was great but the poor communication around the room situation would make me hesitant to book another stay with Sonder.

Good location. Staff did not allow us to check into our room at 4pm, although our check in time was 4pm. When we went to our room, staff was still cleaning our room, even past 4pm. We then had to wait 30 minutes in the hallway for the room to inspected. Very unprofessional and untimely of them.

The property is quite tired. I had to move room because of a problem with broken fittings. Thankfully the staff upgraded my room, which was better. I'm not sure I'd stay again.

I had a wonderful stay! Check in/out was efficient, with the option to Room was clean and larger than most you would find in New York. I d I had a minor maintenance issue at the start but the Sonder team was very quick in responding and solving it.

Great location that was convenient and walkable to many of the tourist attractions including Time Square, MSG and Central Park. Lots of dining options around hotel as well.
