Clarion Inn & Suites Miami International Airport

What guests think

At Clarion Inn & Suites Miami International Airport, reviews describe a budget-friendly, airport-convenient stopover with a free shuttle, but experiences vary widely—from clean, comfortable rooms and helpful staff to dated spaces and inconsistent shuttle reliability.

Many guests liked the proximity to MIA and large, quiet rooms, but recurring complaints cite strong mold odors, worn furnishings, and frequent A/C or heating issues. Service feedback is mixed: some praise courteous staff, while others report slow or confusing check-in, difficulty reaching the shuttle, language barriers, and surprise fees for parking and a small property charge. On-site dining is basic and sometimes overpriced; breakfast is typically not included, and there is no pool. Overall, expect a simple, no-frills layover hotel near the airport.

The hotel is doing construction in the lobby. The hotel doesn’t mention they charge $12.00 parking fee for each day you stay at the hotel. I stayed at this hotel before and parking was free. There’s like 4-5 hotels around the corner and across the street that doesn’t have parking fees. That’s my last time staying at Clarion inn & suites.

The hotel is very dated but has convenient airport shuttle. The reason I booked this hotel was because of the airport shuttle and also the cruise shuttle. I read that we had to call the hotel in advance to book the cruise shuttle however when I did call, they told me you can only reserve when you check in. At check-in they told me that the shuttle only operates from Friday-Sunday something they didn’t tell me when I called. The next day when I was waiting for my Uber, the shuttle shows up to pick up those that had reserved. We never got a straight answer from anyone about this. We were just told to speak to the manager who we never found. I would not recommend this hotel as Customer Service was not the greatest and the hotel a little dingy.

Very basic hotel but met our needs. Clean, large room with comfortable bed. Free airport shuttle (pick up at Door 5), and cruise terminal shuttle the next morning at decent price. Restaurant, again basic but had decent selection including salads, open till 11pm. Breakfast was extra but inexpensive.

Room was big and clean. It’s very close to the Mia Airport. There was a noise from a machine outside and also the AC made a fairly loud noise but it cooled very good. They had an extra $4 “service charge” and you need to pay for parking, $12 through PMC. All these extra payment should be included on all booking sites. At least I didn’t see it on Expedia

When I arrived, the reception area was very busy, and it took about an hour before I could check in. The building is a bit old and could use some minor renovations, but it is still fairly well maintained. One thing I really appreciated is the free airport shuttle bus service—it was convenient and efficient. The room was nice and clean, with a great view of the airport. It had two twin beds that were comfortable, although they made squeaking noises with even the slightest movement. The air conditioning worked well, and the room was equipped with a TV, fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. There was no noise disturbance from airplanes, but occasionally I could hear other guests in the hallway or through the walls. I also frequently smelled weed in the hallway, and sometimes the smell came into the room, likely through the ventilation system. The room doors shut very loudly, causing the walls to shake. The cleaning staff also kept slamming doors in the hallway, which created disturbances—especially when I was trying to take a nap. Overall, it’s a suitable place for a short stay. I would rate it a 7 out of 10

The staff could be more helpful and welcoming. Several came across as rude or uninterested. Both the hotel and cruise shuttle drivers were unfriendly and unhelpful. Maybe it was just an off weekend for everyone, but a little kindness and effort to assist guests would make a big difference. Room was clean, the house keeping was kind and helpful. Thank you for showing up.

The staff was horrible. I had a package delivered by Amazon, on the day I arrived. There were several packages there. The rude associate told me to wait until he was done. It was 4 hours later and still hadnt checked for the package. When he looked, he said it wasnt there. I kept insisting it was there. About another 2 hours later, a different associate looked and found in 3 minutes. The other guy looked like so, glad it was found. No apologies.

They said they were going by a sign up list but continued to help customers that came in after other customers. I left and paid for another hotel room. The hotel still hasn't responded to Expedia's inquiry into the situation. I understand that they were busy and working hard but it was a completely negative experience. If you want a cheap stay close to the airport, then it's fine. The property has definitely seen its better days. But I must admit that the front desk staff and the maids were really nice people. So it is what it is. Don't expect the Waldorf Astoria. LOL. Keep your expectations realistic. That's why I gave it a decent rating. Plus, there was a lot of convenient restaurants within a short walk of the front door. And the shuttle was very convenient.

The check in process was quick. The room was ice cold when I arrived and just a standard room. The shower was nice but the tv did not work. Maintenance was called and he was able to turn the TV on using the buttons in the bottom of the tv. He did not speak English so communication was hard. When he left the tv was loud and there was no way for me to adjust the volume or change the channel, so I just turned it off. There was a musty moldy cheesey smell coming from the room more so like in between the the two beds. The restaurant was good for dinner and breakfast. They served as variety of meals. Just thankful to get a room for one night due to the cancelled flight.
