The place was "okay" but there were a lot of gotchas. Firstly, their pool area was closed without explanation for a month. Something that was disclosed upfront and had no affect on the cost. Secondly, they have an indoor courtyard right outside our rooms with giant bright lights that shined in all night long. Despite a poor covering over the door, the light shown right onto the bed. then, the light/fan in the bathroom was hanging off the ceiling by electrical wires. Certainly not safe. Finally, there was absolutely no table in the room. Seemed odd not to have a simple table upon which to work.

I wasn't expecting the Ramkota to be so nice. For the price in a small town I was expecting something mildly sketchy that was at best a dry place to sleep. I was actually very impressed. The staff is great. The entire place is clean and updated. The pool area is beautiful and so relaxing. The space is large enough that even with several groups and kids enjoying themselves in the pool it didn't feel crowded. Highly recommend the poolside rooms. They have some really cute affordable room service specials as well. There is a great walking path to the river just across the parking lot. We went on a nature walk at La Framboise island and it was wonderful. There is also a movie theater within walking distance and while it isn't a mega theater with 27 screens it's very affordable, nicely updated, and the staff was very nice. We picked the Ramkota for a convenient stop for our actual destination but found a place that we will be returning to again because it was just so nice and we underestimated the number of things that we could do right there in Pierre.

There was no outlets by sink or mirrors at all. Microwave could not even have a plugin on the wall. One of the clean towels had hair shavings all over it... were the linens even washed then? Pool and hot tub out of commission. No forewarning of this either. There is no elevator in the building to get to 2nd floor. They had luggage carts, but no elevator.

We visit Pierre often because our relatives live nearby, and this was the nicest stay we’ve had. I’m not sure why we hadn’t stayed here before! The lobby was welcoming, the rooms were clean, and the pool and hot tub were very enjoyable. The staff was friendly and quick to help with anything we needed. Pierre isn’t a huge town, but there were plenty of places to eat close to the hotel, which was convenient. We happened to stay during a Christmas market and it was such a fun way to end our trip we’ll definitely be coming back soon. This will be our go-to hotel from now on.

Made reservations a month ahead of time specifically for the pool as my daughter wanted a pool party for her birthday. Drove 4 hours, checked in and went to our poolside room. Looked out the glass door toward the pool from the room only to find out the pool was closed for maintenance (no water in it). Had to split up family and those of us with kids had to get a room at a different hotel with pool for almost double the price as it was last minute. For their credit the ramkota was supposed to cancel our rooms with no cancellation fee, however I have my doubts that this will happen since the room was booked through Expedia and getting a room cancelled with them is a huge pain as you can’t just talk to a real person to explain the situation.

The pool was warm and large. This is not your average hotel and it is unique in a good way. There is space to roam throughout the facility with the large pool and sitting rooms. Some guest rooms are accessible directly from the parking lot and some accessible through an indoor hallway. Our room had two exit doors. One to the hallway and one that went to the pool, which was nice for the kids.

Booked through this site. Room was right across the hall from an extremely noisy soda machine. No elevators in the hotel, so one had to carry everything up/down the stairs. One of the fire rates does was split - the veneer was falling off on one side. Found out the next day that the fridge in our room was unplugged (must've been done during cleaning), so the food we brought with spoiled (we are on vacation). Plugged the fridge in, and it kept things somewhat cool on the max setting, however was noisy. By the end of the second evening and overnight the AC was getting louder as well. There is no room service for multiple day stay. Upon check out, when noting the issues above, the front desk clerk just said he would have maintenance check the room out. Then, we get charged for daily "amenities." $8.90 per day. When I questioned what these amenities charges were for, as we had not gotten anything from the front desk while we were there and had not rented any movies on the TV, the front desk clerk said "it is for coffee in the lobby, if a guest needs a tooth brush or toothpaste. We charge this to every guest." Would not recommend staying here - find a better place that works to keep their guests happy.

Not impressed at all. When we checked in at desk, had to wait and wait. The man working at desk, kept answering the phone and asking people to call back. Assigned us a room and as we walked to our room noticed how dirty hallways were. Lots of dryed up chunks of mud !! Went in our room and immediately saw little bugs crawling on floor in the bedroom area and bathroom area. The bathroom floor and shower floor had been neglected and dirty. Went back to the front desk and the man gave us a different room on a different wing of motel. As we walked the hallways of this hotel it was terribly hot. Air apparently not working. Our new room better, no bugs, but showing its age with wear and tear. In am went for breakfast, again hallways hot and not too comfortable. Variety of foods, but apparently sitting awhile. As the hot foods were cold and pancakes turned to rubber, they were so chewy you couldnt eat. We were there at 7:30 am. We saw plates left on tables full of food. Soon realised why they had left their food. Sad. Proceeded to then go check out. Process smooth, except the hotel charged us 4.00 more then what we were quoted from hotels.com We travel fairly often. And have used hotels.com frequently, very disappointed in this experience.

The shower had not been cleaned and the floor had not been vacuumed. I expect more for the prices charged. I love the Ramkota, but their housekeeping is horrible. My dad was dying so I didn’t take the time to complain or move rooms. I took pictures, though.

I stayed here, along with many of my classmates, for the bar examination. My first room smelled damp and musty and there were a plethora of bugs, namely fleas and an ant infestation. There were no rooms available the first night to be moved, so I dealt with the bugs and have flea bites all over my legs. The following morning, at least 15 of my classmates also complained of bugs and bug bites from their beds. One classmate was moved as there was blood on his floor, duvet cover and walls. Another, moved rooms and was issued a complete refund for the unmentionable condition of his room. I managed to get moved to a new room for my last night, and it was better, but i will not stretch the truth and say the room was even close to decent. Do not stay here.

Staff was great - restaurant was really good, had walleye fish and chips, really good. This is a hotel/motel, they are redoing it, but it's still a dressed up motel. Had a room on the inside that had a useless sliding glass door into a meeting room where there was a very loud meeting going on the whole first day when I really needed a nap. The property appears to have been recently remodeled. Decent rooms. Comfortable beds. Maybe a bit too soft for my taste. The breakfast was on par or better than other hotels at the same price point. I didn't not use the restaurant or pool facilities. Blackout curtains but there was some truck noise from the highway in front of the hotel. If you want a quieter room, request one on the back side of the property. If I need to travel to Pierre again, I would stay at this property.

The trip did not start out great at all when we arrived at the hotel to find out that the area we have sat in for years as a general seating area (we have a large group so sitting in a room is not possible and there wasn’t enough chairs in the pull area) now had to be rented out for $200 (even to just get some chairs to sit on) and even if we wanted to rent it out we couldn’t because we didn’t give them advance notice. The front desk gal was absolutely rude and unwilling to help. It took a maintenance man to get permission for us to use the area in which they had no problems with so it was very frustrating that a maintenance man could help us more than the front desk staff . Then we ended our trip with the cleaning staff barging through the door at 9:30 in the morning without knocking to start cleaning our room which we hadn’t left yet. We went down for breakfast and came back and they had already stripped the sheets off of our bed.

We didn’t get Stay at ramkota because they were overbooked so they sent us to a lower class motel for free hopefully and that place didn’t have a pool either. The only reason why it’s two stars is because there was actually a place for us to stay again even though it’s low class.

There was road construction right in front of the ram Kota, but that is out of their control. It just was a little inconvenient to get in and out, but the parking lot was spacious. The rooms were nice. The staff was courteous.

We had a pool side room and it was great. Breakfast buffet was really delicious and different from most hotels which we appreciated. We walked the trails on la framboise island and that alone was a great reason to stay. Cleanliness of room could have been better but overall it was a decent stay & the midcentury modern architecture was really cool.

The issues we had are only temporary for this hotel and will be resolved in the near future. Currently, the bridge is under construction immediately in front of the hotel, and the restaurant in the hotel is closed. For us, it meant we had to go out to find a restaurant to eat at, but the staff said they are trying to reopen the hotel restaurant if they can get more people into the hotel for higher demand. There is low demand right now because of construction and they are doing some minor remodeling, both of which will be done and the restaurant will reopen again.

This hotel has the opportunity to be amazing but it was booked pretty full. We learned it was State Wrestling Tournament weekend so the hotel was very busy. However, this should not have been a surprise to the staff. Was at breakfast the next morning 15 minutes after it opened and there was not one scrap of food left! Nothing, not even cereal. There was no employee in sight so I went to the front desk. The front desk employee simply said, “The families here for State Wrestling ate all the food. They will try to cook more.” For the price we paid for this room, we were ripped off!
