Moxy Charlotte Downtown Hotel in Charlotte

What guests think

Travellers describe Moxy Charlotte Downtown as a stylish, centrally located hotel with lively social spaces, generally clean rooms, and many friendly staff, but also highlight small, minimalist rooms, late-night noise from nearby nightlife, and pricey, sometimes confusing valet parking.

Rooms feature modern decor and city views but lack storage and conveniences like fridges or in-room coffee, and several guests reported maintenance issues or awkward sliding bathroom doors. Service earns frequent praise at check-in and valet, though some guests encountered rude interactions, billing errors, and slow follow-up. The 13th-floor bar, lounge, and rooftop spaces are popular, and some disliked extra charges such as paid Wi-Fi. Expect a hip, central stay best for heavy sleepers and light packers.

Valet service was excellent, professional friendly. Check in at bar was easy, free drink when u arrive. Hotel staff friendly. When I booked the room the parking was $45. The hotel changed the rate to $55 as I wasn’t informed. Called hotel and talked to the valet desk and they are going to try and make things right. Nice clean rooms, hot shower.

Rooms are small , for the price. Bathroom door didn’t close all the way and kept “rolling” open. We placed a towel on the ground and jammed it in to keep it shut. Shower handle to turn on water fell off 3x which is annoying at $175 a night and when spending the weekend with someone new. Room was clean. Lounge area is nice. Parking is annoying. We left on Sunday morning at 6:00 am because our parking fee at $31 was expiring again. We paid daily. Hotel should give guests a complementary parking pass-seriously!!! That’s ridiculous. Be aware that you walk into hotel and there isn’t anything but a seating area and elevators. Hopefully you’ve read that check in area is on the 13th floor at the bar! Weird design, honestly. No coffee in rooms, no iron in room - but there is a stash closet - where you can find irons and extra pillows, etc. I know that because I went to the 13th floor to ask someone at the bar area where I can find an iron. Again, annoying. The highlight and only highlight is the lounge area on 13th floor. Period. Maybe someone will reach out to give me a complementary stay and try this again. Ughhhhh!

Convenient City Center location with a view! The staff was great - so helpful and accommodating. And check-in was a breeze. . Valet parking was very responsive and efficient . The outdoor gathering area was wonderful- and included lots of seating ,games, big screen tv etc. And a beautiful view of the city. There was also a nice variety of snacks for purchase as well as a limited but good menu if you didn’t want to go out. The rooms are minimally furnished in a very modern quirky style. The bed was comfortable. The downside is that there were no bedside tables, closet or dresser - - just rows of hooks along the wall. And the bathroom was pretty small and offered very little counter space.

The Hotel was cute, great location, great staff! Downsides lighting in our unique unit and we couldn't tilt the tv to watch it. The bathroom barn door would not stay shut, awkward since i was sharing the room with my teenage son, had to use a chair to keep the door closed. Could hear music playing outside throughout the night, light sleeper so did not sleep at all :(

I loved everything about this hotel (location, friendliness of the staff, vibe, use of space, etc.) except the mattress. I’m unsure if it was really a king-sized bed in the room (seemed smaller) and it was the firmest I’ve slept on in a long while. I have a Sleep Number bed at home, and this felt like it was north of 100 on hardness. That’s the only reason I didn’t give it five stars.
