The Camino Real Polanco continues to be my favorite hotel in Mexico City. Designed by a Mexican architect legend in the 60s, the hotel is lovely to behold, full of masterpiece artwork by Mexican artists. From the fountain design at the entrance, the long walks to your room with views of gardens, the hotel is a definitive respite from the busy city. Best room service in town.

Nice hotel. No real complaints, just some things not as promised. I paid for VIP upgrade. Special check in was part of the deal, but I was directed to the main front desk. The vip suite was clean and comfortable, but rather odd. You enter to the living room area which looks out to kind of an industrial courtyard. No view. You head to the bedroom to find a cave. No window at all. Continue to the massive changing room big enough for a starlet and all her attendees, and onto the bathroom. Bathroom was very nice with extra amenities including a nice clothes steamer, which I really appreciated. The king bed was very comfortable. The pool are was nice, but not exceptional. It seemed excessive to totally disallow smoking a cigar anywhere but outside of the property. The pool area was a huge nice courtyard with a big lawn. No reason they could not set aside a single smoking area or just allow it anywhere.

La habitación estaba muy sucia. La alfombra aquerosa. El baño no servía, ya que no se iba el agua, eso causaba olor fétido en el baño y habitación. Beautiful exterior but rooms not really up to par. Staff is amazing. Because of reviews here we got a room in the Casa Club that comes with breakfast, free snacks all day, and a complimentary 7-8 pm drinks and treats. One staff member, Guadalupe, was truly amazing with us and our 7-year old. Made us all feel special and taken care of. But everyone was +. The location is good. Easy to access through two streets, which turned out quite useful since one of the streets was closed for the Sunday Ciclovia. Pretty easy to get around with Uber and not expensive. Easy to walk to Polanco, and lots of restaurants and stores. The property is truly unique and interesting, beautiful. So many different restaurants and areas in the hotel, and so many activities happening all the time. The pool was fun... and it was warm! Lovely area with lots of tables and lounge chairs. They even have a staffed bar and you can get food. Kind of annoying that the only way to get towels is to get them from the gym. No real place to leave them but just on the chair. Now to the rooms. We were told we were in a semi-renovated room and here is something to pay attention: the beds are NOT queen, they are full and this is a huge issue if you are traveling with children. Rooms only accommodate 2 people really. The bathroom was bad. Weird construction, door was in a bad place, didn't close. Hooks were falling off. Rain shower is annoying, especially with soap dispensers behind it. Electricity was wonky.

Como siempre las habitaciones son muy cómodas, el problema por 2da vez es que en la recepción te ponen caras, te atienden de mala gana pésimo recepción, en esta ocasión en el estacionamiento NO había valet parking, nadie recibió mi camioneta ni bellboy, mi arribo al hotel fue a las 11 de la noche pero al tratarse de un hotel RECONOCIDO debería existir el personal suficiente para atender cada área.

Mi reciente estancia fue un completo engaño y un robo. Desde el momento en que llegué, intentaron hacerme creer que me habían "mejorado" la habitación, cuando en realidad me entregaron exactamente la que había reservado inicialmente. ¡Una mentira descarada para empezar! La oferta gastronómica fue simplemente atroz y a precios exorbitantes. Cenamos en el restaurante Bistro, ubicado en el tercer piso, y éramos la única mesa, lo cual ya decía mucho. Pedimos una pizza de $400 pesos que fue, sin exagerar, la peor pizza que he probado en mi vida. Cualquier pizza de Domino's es infinitamente superior. Pero el abuso no terminó ahí. Cada bebida costaba $300 pesos y eran de una calidad ínfima, prácticamente sin alcohol. ¡Ese precio es lo que cuesta una botella entera de licor! Y un refresco, algo tan básico, te lo cobraban a $100 pesos. Para rematar, pedimos un cheesecake de $200 pesos que no era ni una rebanada; era un diminuto círculo que se devora de un solo bocado. No me importa pagar bien por calidad, pero lo que viví fue un abuso inaceptable y un robo descarado. Es indignante que se aprovechen así de los clientes.

The location is superb, this is a VIP featured hotel, I did receive the 20% on food discount after asking for it. It was not offered to us. I didn't receive the upgraded room because the hotel was overbooked and without any availability. I did not receive the complimentary drinks at the bar (sad) but the bar quality is excellent and we spend a good amount of time and funds there. 😆
