What guests think

At Residence Inn by Marriott Norfolk Airport, guests frequently highlight friendly, accommodating staff and spacious, apartment‑style suites with kitchens, along with a generally clean property and a convenient location near the airport, shopping, and major roads.

Common downsides include intermittent maintenance problems (lukewarm water, low pressure, and finicky A/C), noticeable noise from planes and a nearby train, and areas showing wear or odors. Experiences with amenities are mixed: the indoor pool and gym are appreciated but sometimes described as chilly or needing better upkeep, airport shuttle availability is inconsistent, and some guests were surprised by parking and higher pet fees. Overall, expect roomy suites and convenience, with potential noise and occasional maintenance or policy hiccups.

Hospitality from Courtney and Peyton welcomed us in. The gentleman working the breakfast buffet kept it full and clean. The room was clean and stocked; beds and couch were comfortable. The pool was clean, towels were plentiful, water was tested and checked. There was no foul odor. We absolutely will continue to stay during our future visits!

The overall stay was good, my only complaint was the beds are way too soft, but that is my opinion and others may enjoy soft beds. Could offer more breakfast options as well. The hotel was clean, the room was clean, offered smart tvs, and the kids enjoyed the basketball court and pool table.

We stayed for 4 nights, we were in Norfolk for an event at the Botanical Gardens which is less than 2 miles away. The hotel is clean, offers a great complimentary breakfast with different hot options everyday, a nice gym and pool and outdoor spaces that include a basketball court, the staff is warm and friendly

We are very disappointed that you all have discontinued your 24 hour shuttle service to the Norfolk Airport. We have always stayed at your property because of the convenience. Unfortunately, because you no longer offer this service, we will be staying at the Delta, another Marriott property across the street, from now on. We have recommended your property to several of our friends because of your airport shuttle.

This hotel overall was good and worked for our needs (staying a night prior to our cruise out of Norfolk). My kids enjoyed the pool at night (although it was awkward for them to have to walk by the party being hosted with people staring at them in bathing suits). A decent hotel breakfast was offered in the morning with a variety of options. Some things we noticed were the wear and tear on the place. It also smelled like animal pee upon walking into the room.

The website said you had a hot tub and there was no hot tub. The pool had not been cleaned because you could see the dirt on the bottom and the water was cloudy. We had some sort of animal feces under and around our TV stand, under our couch and my niece had some in her mouth. The carpet needed a good shampooing. The breakfast was not that good. The Canadian bacon and the turkey sausage were so over cooked that you could not eat it and the eggs were very watery. The Staff however was very nice and friendly.

For a single night stay, this hotel was fine. However, the cleanliness is lacking. There are stains all over the counter surfaces, bedding and floors. I’m all for a dog friendly hotel, but our room smelled like sweaty dog and pee on arrival. While sleeping, I also felt a bug on my arm that was never found, and both my friend and I had bites on our necks the next morning. The free breakfast was lacking and stale. I usually love Residence Inn’s but most likely won’t return here as there are lots of other options in the area. The desk staff was super friendly tho!

Preview of a Hotel Stay Despite a friendly front desk, my stay was marred by the discovery of mold on the ceiling and in the bathroom vent, posing a potential health hazard. Attempts to contact the front desk through the hotel phone were unsuccessful, and while staff provided extra towels and blankets, the noise from running and door slamming persisted throughout the night. The breakfast buffet was underwhelming, with limited options. Though I requested a transfer, no similar rooms were available. The presence of mold, a serious health concern, significantly impacted my stay.

We have stayed here many times before and have never had any issues. This time around, despite the fact that this hotel was the most expensive in the area, I chose them as we had been here before and they were great. Well, not this time. New management, everything has fallen apart, poor room conditions, the entire floor smelled like wee. The last two days we were there, our entire room smelled like week as the smell was traveling through the vents and coming from the room above us. The only positive thing I can say about our stay here this time is that the staff is top notch. We will never stay here again, unfortunately

A nice, selectively renovated hotel with friendly staff. We stayed in a very clean and well supplied suite with a full kitchen. This made for a very comfortable stay. The noise of Tropical Storm Ophelia helped camouflage a noisy area due to traffic, the airport, and several police/fire runs during the evening. The old windows are double hung and do little to stop noise and wind. The hotel also has an active train track running right next to the parking lot, and that area is filthy with trash. The place is on the pricey side with the highest pet fee I’ve encountered at $150 plus tax. Breakfast was standard.

The most important part of most experiences are the initial interactions with someone who represents that business. Kristen at the front desk was the person who I had my initial interaction, and I can say with complete confidence that she is understands the importance of the customer experience. She was welcoming, her tone was respectful, she was attentive, and everything else a client would hope for! Kristen had told me she had been working there for less than six month, but really loved her job and it absolutely showed in her action. THANK YOU Kristen for such an amazing attitude!

It started at check in… the young lady checking us in never mentioned additional charge for parking. She refused to bring up sheets for the pull out bed and when I mentioned that my room was messed up she said nothing. When I went downstairs to get the sheets she only gave me one pillow. The room was dirty and had a lot of things that just did not make it worth the price we paid. In the morning we came down for breakfast and it was mediocre at best. The staff was unfriendly and did not make my kids comfortable. This was our first and last time staying there.
