We've stayed at this property before and liked the location and ease of use when we're in Des Moines. This 5 night stay will be our last at this property. Upon check-in, we found out there was now a $10/night parking fee. In West Des Moines. In an unsecured, uncovered lot. That we had to pay ourselves via a 3rd party. Absolutely unacceptable. I asked about cancelling our reservation and was told there was a 48 hour policy, so we decided to stay. The shower head in our room (807) was broken. I reported it. Never fixed. We set the thermostat to 60. I doubt the room ever got below 70. Des Moines was in the middle of a heat wave, but the pool was "Closed For Maintenance" for at least half of our stay. When I checked out at 10:45am Saturday 6/28 there was only one person working the desk. I waited for 15 minutes to check out to make it clear our visit had been less than pleasant. The clerk said "I'm sorry to hear that" and nothing else. There was still a line when I left. I've stayed in Motel 6's with exponentially greater focus on customer care and satisfaction. I don't know what's happened to this property, but it poisoned my opinion of it and definitely soured my overall opinion of Sheraton and Marriott in general. Please turn it into a Spirit Halloween store and be done with it.

Room was clean. Housekeeping came around in the morning offering more towels if needed. They have big bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion and hand wash. How sanitary is reusing bottles between your clientele? I thought it was rather gross and the body wash and shampoo was watered down. I know watered down products when I see them! Very few of the ice machines were working and was very frustrating to traipse all over looking for a working ice machine! They tried charging me a $10 parking fee, and I didn’t even drive!! They did remove it from my bill, after I complained. It wasn’t worth the extra money to stay at this hotel. I’ll find a cheaper place with working ice machines!!

Stayed for one night with kids before my son was shipping off for boot camp. Hotel is beautiful. Gym and pool area are nice, unfortunately no hot tub. Chose this hotel as that is where the recruits were staying and it allowed the kids a little more time with their brother before he left. Beds were comfortable and the shower had good water pressure. Restaurant inside of the hotel. Breakfast was amazing, Buffet style dining with a wide varitey of options to choose from. Would absolutely stay again.

This is a 4 star hotel with 1 star service. The star in this case is the 1 employee dealing with a constant mob of people. 1 person at the front desk. One. This is a 10 story hotel. There are only two elevators that service the ENTIRE hotel. They are fine, fancy, glass affairs that are oddly shaped and barely accomodate a baggage cart. At the ground floor there is a constant press of humanity vying for position in line to gain entry to the next elevator to reach ground. The area that the fancy, sloth speed elevators are located is extremely cramped and bottle-necked. It allows little room for people to exit the elevators due to the press of humanity and limited space. The wait to get on an elevator during normal hours was way too long and a constant common complaint among other people staying at the hotel. I am a senior citizen. I called guest services and asked for 2 extra bath towels. This fancy hotel provides 3 to a room. I was answered with, "well it might take a minute to get those to you but if you come down to the front desk I can hand them to you." Ok I said. I made the trek down, only to be ignored because the single employee there had 150 people in line in front of her. I made the trek back upstairs to my room. I called \'guest services\' again with the same request for 2 towels and received the same spiel. I told them I could wait for them because I had all night. The towels never arrived. They are woefully understaffed. I\'d like a refund and an apology.

The room was really stuffy and had a little bit of a musty smell. There was some hair left in the shower stall from the previous tenants. The staff were friendly. The hotel was booked with a lot of families, so everything was extra loud.

When we checked in and arrived to our room, it had not been cleaned. There was a beer box stuffed with trash, dirty towels, and the bedding hadn't been changed. The friendly front desk worker did provide us with free breakfast buffet vouchers and sent someone up with clean towels and bedding. Also, there was a fundraiser event going on and we could hear the music and feel the bass in our room until 11pm. The breakfast was good and the pool/workout area was nice.

West Des Moines is the area of town to stay when visiting Des Moines. PSA, dont click on the $5.99/day internet - I did, it didn't work, so I tried again, still didn't work, so I gave up and accessed the internet on my phone hotspot. Was still charged $5.99, twice for the same day, for internet I couldn't and didn't access.

The beds and bedding were very comfortable and the room was very quiet. The view from my room was that of a rooftop with AC units, but I wasn’t there for the view. Water took a long time to heat up, but I would definitely stay again.

First we had got there and had multiple issues with the toilet. Had to flush it repeatedly for it to actually go down. We had a couple guests we hadn’t seen in awhile coming to stay with us and they also had a baby. it was extremely hot in the room. Even when we turned the ac to 60 degrees it didn’t work at all. At check out when we went to talk to them they said people had been asking for fans and we could’ve asked but We paid 200$ for the hotel and didn’t know we’d even have to ask for a fan and thought the air would work. Our guests couldn’t even stand to stay in our room and they ended up leaving the next day 6-7am and we also packed and decided to leave shortly after. When packing up we checked under the bed for anything to make sure we didn’t leave anything and we found a dip chew pouch and a marijuana vape which like I stated we had a baby with us who is crawling luckily he didn’t find that. Another thing the pool was full at almost all times and was very dirty and had cold water but the pool room was extremely hot as well. Overall not a good experience my guests and I left way earlier then we expected to and wished. I wish the experience was better. I would like to be compensated or my money back.

Arrived late Christmas Eve, staff was extremely nice! Always love staying at WDM Sheraton, very private and close to everything. Right off of I-80 and I-35 so can access everything. Room was very large and spacious. Appreciate the fridge, microwave and comfy bed. Loved it.

Air conditioning wasn’t working very good which made sleeping there miserable. Definitely outdated in the room itself. The holder on the wall for the shampoo/conditioner/body wash was broken off the wall but some of the plastic from it was still stuck to the wall. Water pressure also sucked.

Everything was great until I looked at my credit card statement a day after I e stayed at the hotel and found out that I was charged twice (once by Orbitz and once by the hotel) for one of the two rooms I booked through Orbitz. It is impossible to get a live person to discuss. I’ve contacted the hotel a couple of times by phone and I was transferred to a voice mail to leave detailed information and wait for a callback within 24 hours; I’ve also emailed the person supposed to be in charge with billing and 4 days later received no response.

kids baseball tournament in town parent allowing kids to run wild so loud and kids running the hallways 10 story hotel and kids playing on elevators so it was a 5 minute wait to get off or up to the 9th floor Not enough hotel staff front desk/security for the business volume!

It was a nice stay, but double charged me. Normally I don't leave reviews like this, but I'm pissed. They said they had no record of me paying cash for my room, um look at the cameras duh. Then next day they charged my card a 155.68 dollars when I already paid and still haven't refunded me. They were hoping I'd hang up while being put on hold for 20 mins talking to the same person like are you serious? I just want my 155 back it's not that hard.

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. I really didn't like to pay for parking. It's understandable when it is in a congested downtown area. This is not. And breakfast is pricey (I heard it is good though) so we skipped it. I am just so used to having a pretty good free breakfast at hotels at this price level. And no free Wi-fi wasn't great. That said, the room was quite large for the price and the staff was super helpful. Room and property were very clean and inviting. So, overall, I do recommend this hotel, just know that it comes with a few added costs.
