Site shows there’s a pool and there’s for sure no pool. Only reason I even booked there was for a pool to relax after a rough day. Check in took forever due to the staff not being around but morning people were much better and friendlier!!

Ascetics pool and hot tub. They do not have either. My bed frame was exposed because the Matress could not line up, causing me to continually hit the metal frame with my knee. Garage all around the building. Hotels.com is doing a dis service to its patrons by advertising this hotel.

The listing for days inn windham west des Moines/ Clive stated they had a pool and description said it had a outdoor heated pool but there was NOT a pool of ANY kind on the property. The WHOLE reason we had made reservation at a hotel was so my kiddos could go swimming and not "break the bank" .

They advertised that they had an outdoor pool, they did not. Breakfast was not placed out until 630 in the morning. When we got into the room the Wi-Fi did not work, there was visible damage to the room which we had to pay a $50 incidental fee upon getting to the hotel for any damages. Make sure you take pictures of your room as to not get charged.

There is no pool at this location even though Expedia shows it having a pool. The TV in our room didn't work and the door had to be slammed really hard to close and then pushed to be sure it was actually shut. The cover to our heating unit was laying on the floor. The walls had spots that were peeling and the floor creaked. Bathtub had been filled in with something to cover up a crack or hole. The lady at the desk was very kind and let us change rooms but that room should not be given to other people until it's fixed. We showed her the picture of the cover being off the heating unit and she sent a tech to look at the TV but it could not be fixed. She said they had been up there working on the heating/cooling unit so the room should have been rechecked before assigning it to someone. The breakfast was minimal with only waffles and cereal but the waffle mix was great.

Check-in went fairly smoothly but the building looks rough from outside. There is no pool, which the amenities list a pool so I had some disappointed kiddos. There were stains on the sheets and hair in the shower. A lot of empty space but yet no mirror except the bathroom and only 1 garbage can. Not all plug ins worked. Would not stay again.

NO POOL! The Expedia listing clearly shows “pool” as one of the hotel’s amenities, but at check-in, I asked when the pool closes, and the clerk seemed surprised at the question, as they don’t have a pool. This was disappointing for my kids after a long day on the road. The hotel is a lot more worn than the pictures indicate. Very disappointing.

Was very unhappy to find out that once we got there that there was not a pool like it had listed for the property. And to be put on the 3rd floor with elevator being broke. That made for a hard time transporting luggage and cooler up 3 flights of stairs. Had I known of the pool I would have else where. I paid for my 9 days with intentions of being able to use a pool. I feel like there should be compensation for that as I paid for it and to add had to take my kids else where and pay to go swimming. The property outside of that was clean and they stayed on top of trash in rooms and towels.

Literally just absolutely disgusting. Smelled like mildew, no clue what was in the ice bucket, shower and bathtub so dirty I had to shower at a trucker stop because I honestly thought I would catch a disease had I showered in the hotels shower, (I’ve never seen such dirty grout). The carpet was oddly moist and damp? Bathroom floor was oily and slippery. Bed seemed clean enough but I slept on my own blanket from home because I had no other choice, staff was fine, didn’t interact much. I don’t recommend staying here. Was in Iowa for a music festival and coming back to a dirty room with a probably dirty bed was NOT fun.

Given the wrong room and key cards, walked in on somebody, room we did get was filthy, lobby bathroom toilet was clogged so I couldn't even use the restroom when we arrived and were placed in the wrong room, door to our room was literally falling off the hinges and difficult to open and close, heater barely worked and smelled terribly when fan was running and one crappy blanket. Slept in my clothes and basically brushed my teeth and left the next morning. Hair and dirt in the sink and mirror was filthy with toothpaste spit and splatter so I didn't even want to attempt a shower. Completely disgusting, stay somewhere else!

Do not stay at the hotel. When we arrived, the air conditioning in the lobby was either not on or broken. The computer system was down... so no shock but to stand there and sweat. We should have left right then. The property, corridors, stairwells, and bathrooms are filthy. When we got to the room, I felt a bit of redemption as the bedroom was neat and clean. The bathroom however was awful. Hair and what looked to be paint chips littered the floor. The toiletries were opened and a bar of soap appeared to be used. We went for dinner... upon our return we found the carpet under the air conditioner to be soaked with water. Most channels of television had poor reception. I called the lobby to speak with someone regarding these issues... I was put on hold indefinitely. The breakfast consists of a waffle machine, oatmeal, and dry cereal. We will stay somewhere, anywhere else, tonight. YUCK. Please, do yourself a favor, DO NOT STAY HERE.

The room was dirty, stains on the comforters, sheets had hair in them. There was a constant smell of sewage. The hotel itself is falling apart. My sons mold allergies were causing him to wake up with congestion. We stayed 2 nights because we had pre-booked for a work trip and on the second night I had to ask for clean towels and we were told to bring them our dirty ones for the new ones…what I don’t work here…The area around was sketchy, and the staff was not helpful or kind and struggled to speak English so they would get mad when you didn’t understand them. I would NEVER recommend this place!

Hotel was pretty run down and the room was pretty dirty. There was no shower curtain in the bathroom the first night, and there were dead bugs and hair in several places. The room was extremely musty, and there appeared to be mold on the AC unit. It is definitely a place to stay if you don’t have much money.

TV did not work, phone broken. No information about WI-FI. Was on 3rd floor, had to go back down to front desk to request that these items be fixed/replaced. Mtnc came up to fix TV, did nothing about the phone. Mtnc did not speak english very well, though he did assist with getting WI-FI on my phone. Bed pillows looked like small square sofa pillows. Bed was good, pillows not so much. Staff was nice, but frustrating to have to deal with broken items and bad pillows.

PROS The place is good value if you’re looking for a minimalistic place that is inexpensive on your roadtrip. Our beds were very new and comfortable. The room was clean. CONS It’s dated, it’s small, the pillows were tiny, wouldn’t want to stay longer than a day

It’s a budget hotel and you get what you pay for. It’s under renovation, but the inside rooms seem better than the outside rooms (rooms with doors to the outside directly). The rooms were clean, good sized. and bed were comfortable. Breakfast was minimal: toast, cereal, and waffles. It was set up late, so that was a bit of an inconvenience. Locally operated, so not much staff. Overall, it’s a good value and convenient location.

Incessant noise and people walking by all throughout the night; it got quietest around 5am when the worst noise was snoring. Keycard stopped working after I went out around 8am and I had to get it replaced. Another gentleman had the same problem when I checked in. Didn't find physical evidence of bedbugs but I woke up with a handful of itchy spots and some bite-looking marks.

We had a reservation for 2 QUEEN beds and they were only full size which was small for my son who is 6'4" tall. They were very uncomfortable. The pillows were awful and not even standard size. The bathroom "remodeling" was dark floor tiles on the walls - very sloppy workmanship and the bathtub wasn't even cleaned properly after install. You could still see the residue from the manufacturer label. TV station access was very limited. This was the 2nd time we stayed at this location (my mistake). At least the main door opened and closed properly this time. This location is definitely on my DO NOT STAY HERE list.

Pulled up to the hotel with my two children and the place looked of a questionable standard. Trash on the property, people sitting on the sidewalks and lawns with hotel doors wide open, smoking, raunchy music. The photos on the website were not the hotel we showed up to. I went into the lobby, it was dirty, paint/wallpaper peeling off the walls... I spoke with the young lady at the desk (who was very polite, but didn't seem too knowledgeable of what she was doing), we were in the correct location. I cancelled on site, I couldn't have been paid to stay there with my children - luckily I was not charged for a last minute cancellation and was able to find another hotel nearby that was clean and inviting. I will definitely be double checking websites and cross comparing before ever renting through a third party site again.

Hotel stay was great, basic hotel that meet our needs. Breakfast in the morning was your average contentential breakfast. Our only complaint was there was a long line to check in and only one person making the desk so it took forever to check in. Very friendly staff though.

Area around hotel feels safe, close to hospital. Staff is generally unimpressive and minimally accommodating. Room was clean. Very humid and room floor, carpet, bedsheets were wet. A/C works well. Breakfast is a disaster (dirty, unkempt dining room) 2 cereal choices and waffles. Would not let that influence your decision to stay here. But at least the room was clean and has a good location. I personally would not choose to stay here again.

Before I decided to make a reservation for this hotel, I looked at their pictures, of course, which showed a very distorted idea of reality. In the pictures the room, the bathroom, and they exterior looked all very clean, well kept up, etc., but the sad reality was completely different. Now, the room itself was clean enough as well as the bathroom furniture, but the bathroom floor did leave a lot to be desired. In actuality though, this hotel looks extremely run down and very, very poorly mantained. The walkways that lead to the rooms are falling apart, the elevator feels faulty, there's litter all around outside the rooms, many of the room doors are all beat up, etc. It looks (and feels) very spooky to tell you the truth. On the plus side, this hotel is very conveniently located: the area is quiet and safe, and so close to I-35 (and a McDonald's only two blocks away). Bottom line, I don't think this hotel is worth what they ask for per night at all. If you can find something else comparable (or even for a few extra bucks) go for it, but definitely you want to stay away from this... place.

The location for us was good, the room was clean, and what I expected, outside the room was already little dirty and not kept up well. Lots of cigarette butts on the back steps and other flooring in the hallways was not kept up as well as it could’ve been. Price was good! Would have liked a little more variety of food at breakfast and maybe some other options for drinks at breakfast as well.

It would have been nice to know that the entire hotel is under construction. No free breakfast. No in-room coffee maker. Our room was only partially remodeled. There were broken or missing tile all throughout. Tub/shower has areas with missing caulk. The tile floor in the room had not been swept or vaccumed so we had to wear our shoes at all times. Door would no close unless you lifted & slammed at the sane time. Our room should have never been rented out because it was definitely not up to Wyndham standards.

The hallways were not air-conditioned and side doors opened. At least cars were bring repaired in the lot and an old rv as backed into a hillside. It would seem that the hotel may be getting a facelift. Looks like workers and staff live there. An old dusty tv leaned up aganst the wall near my room. After a 9 hr drive, I just wanted to rest and have something cold. My room was on the third floor, dark, and the AC was off and curtains open facing the south - it was Iowa in August so 95 degrees. The AC unit had messed up buttons, but started to cool - it took 3 hrs. Looked for ice, but that was on the first floor. No clock in the room either. Breakfast was a bust - just sugary cereal, white bread, and make a waffle. No juice, fruit, yogurt...very very sad.

Property definitely needs an overhaul. Dirty outside area. rooms need upgrades for sure. things taken out of rooms such as iron and hair dryer. No garbage bucket in room. Hotel was undergoing lobby remodeling, so no breakfast was offered, which would have been nice to know on the website before booking a stay.
