Sadly the Mansion has seen better days. Maintenance is behind and the breakfast is cheap and not as good as in the past. Our room leaked in stormy weather and while we were quickly rehoused it was not as good as in our previous visits.

Our stay at Melrose was a phenomenal one! We stayed in the Lanaux Suite on the first floor. Amanda and Emily were sweethearts. They helped us check-in and they were always there for every one of our needs. Although some aspects of the building were older, they do add a classical luxurious Victorian touch. Staying here, we felt like we were part of the high society of New Orleans. Moreover, the bed was extremely clean and very comfortable, as was the bathroom. The breakfast on the other hand could use some improvement. The bagels and the scrambled eggs were great. There was also a sausage/pancake combo item that was extremely delicious! It was something that we have never tried before. Another important mention is the safety surrounding the building. The area does possess some homeless individuals and some suspicious individuals, but for the most part we felt very safe. Our advice is to just be cautious walking at night, especially if you are dressed nicer. Opt for a Lyft or Uber, it is only around a $5-$10 ride from the French Quarter or the Toulouse Street Wharf. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Melrose Mansion and we definitely recommend it if you are looking for a unique stay here in New Orleans. We hope you have a wonderful time!
