What guests think
Reviews of Burlington Hostel describe a budget-friendly, centrally located stay with comfortable pod-style bunks, but show mixed experiences overall, especially around cleanliness of shared kitchens and bathrooms and the consistency of staffing and problem resolution.
Several guests praise friendly check-in, quiet rooms, and a pleasant patio/front yard. Repeated complaints cite dirty or clogged bathrooms, roaches in kitchen areas, occasional bedbug reports, and weak enforcement of quiet hours. Most like the downtown location near LA Live, though a few note the area can feel rough late at night. Expect a low-cost, central hostel with comfy beds but uneven upkeep and service.

Facilities
Common mentions of lockers, pod-style bunks with lights/outlets, and a relaxing patio/front yard. Multiple reviews report bathroom/shower problems (clogs, weak pressure) and a poorly stocked kitchen; one review raised a dorm-door security concern.

it was good for a hostel. i did get quite a few bug bites because the doors and windows would be left open always. and you can’t flush TP down the toilet. aside from that though, just bring earplugs to sleep and you’ll be fine. the beds were quite comfortable and the rooms were air conditioned well. the people working there were nice and helpful as well. for the price, it’s well worth it.

I stayed at the Burlington Hostel for 4 nights. PROS: It is conveniently located to many places downtown LA. The female dorm was clean, the bed mattress was super comfortable, the bed pods have private lights and outlets. The staff is very responsive on their hotline phone number. The front yard and porch is nice place to relax. CONS The kitchen is lacking in utensils; there was, literally, 1 fork. The pantry could and fridge could use a deep cleaning. The female dorm needs to have a proper lock on it; the hostel should invest in, maybe, adding a PIN code or key card lock. With all said, I would stay here, again, on a future visit to Los Angeles. Reminders for guests staying in a shared space/dorm or hostel. Try to keep quiet during night time hours while moving about in a room. Try to refrain from watching videos without headphones or holding conversations during quiet hours. Clean up after yourself.

The only working shower had a toilet that always was clogged. The house manager let it sit for days. I asked him to unplug it and he said he didn't want to. I finally did it myself so I can shower without the stinch of poo. The other bathrooms are similar. The kitchen and bathrooms are very poorly maintained. The kitchen is. Only cleaned onde a day and is barely mopped.

The area is ok, I didn’t feel like I couldn’t walk back alone at night, it was more like I shouldn’t. I did though. The hostel itself was decent, the mixed dorms were nicer than the female only dorm (mixed dorms had code lockers, the female only had school style lockers that couldn’t be locked). The house the hostel is in is older and could use a good deep clean - nothing egregious just definitively not clean. The water kind of tasted weird when brushing teeth, maybe old pipes, and the showers had weak water pressure. They did have a luggage storage area with a camera pointing at it in the foyer. Each bed has a bin in the big fridge for any food you want to store there. They have reasonable quiet hours, it’s just some guests didn’t follow them and none of the staff enforced it. The staff stay in the hostel, too, and I had one of the staff barge into the room I was in after a clear night of drinking, speaking so loudly with a friend that it woke me at 2:30am.

I had an excellent stay at Burlington Hostel. This was almost the perfect place to stay. The Hostel itself was fantastic with excellent Interior Design ideas I was very impressed by. The landscaping in the backyard did need work though. It was such a fantastic stay as far as the others staying at the hostel. Everyone appeared to be comfortable while staying there, and they were definitely very friendly. I enjoyed the communication I was able to have with those I did have conversations with. Management in my opinion had much to do with the positive energy, and environment of Burlington. This was the first hostel I’ve stayed at, and a very good if not better first impression of hostels.

I really enjoyed my stay here especially after staying at another hostel not too far away from this location. It's like night and day between the two and they're only blocks away from each other. The check-in here was a lot smoother, more organized and professional. The text alerts and details were easy to understand. The bunks are set up to where it feels like you have your own room. They're really comfortable, especially bunk 5.... The lockers are clean and functional. Quiet and clean facility.... My only issue is with the downstairs shower, but no big deal. Glad I was able to get a good shower in... I do plan on staying here again real soon....

The bathroom with the only shower is constantly clogged. I asked the house manager to unclog it and he said he did not want to. I finally unclogged it after it being clogged forever a day just so I can shower without the stinch of poo. The kitchen is cleaned only a day and is VERY dirty most of the time.

The place was filthy and smelled like stinky feet all the time. I was there for 3 days and never saw a cleaner, except when someone came to change the bedding for a new guest. The upstairs toilet was clogged and the smell was putrid. The floor was always dry and the furniture dusty. Having almost 30 people in a house, making all that money and not having a cleaner come in at least once a day is very unethical. I was extremely disappointed and I would not return here.

No sound or noise restrictions regardless of the time of day. Other Hostels provide a more quiet environment between 11pm and 10am. Seasoned guests do not tip-toe around nor do they attempt to stifle their noises.

Drove, around for about forty five minutes, no parking available, also, messaged property on Expedia and through text and got no response. So I never checked in, but was still charged

It's an OK hostel bc of the curtains on the pods but the house is old and dusty. Needs stronger air freshener and better cleaning, esp the fridge, bedsheets and blankets. I like that each bed has a container in the fridge. I can't believe price surges to over $70+ on the weekend. This is not a premium hostel & the neighborhood isn't prime location or clean.

One of the most well run hostels ive been to and very clean. Parking is limited and the area is not too safe but local transit options are accessible. There is a male and female manager that oversee the property and are very welcoming. 10/10.
