What guests think
Across recent reviews, Banner Elk Retreat -Walk to Town-Family-Friendly + A/C is praised for spotless, comfortable condos, responsive hosting with easy check-in, and a convenient base near downtown Banner Elk, ski areas, and scenic mountain attractions.
Many guests highlight thoughtful extras, well-stocked kitchens, and pleasant views from the living room or deck. Many walk to town, though the hill makes the route harder for some. A few note comfort nitpicks like pillows, towels, or firmer beds. A practical, home-like base for exploring Banner Elk.

This is a well-appointed unit that was clean and suited our needs just right. Only a couple notes: parking is very much a challenge so bring the smallest vehicle you can get away with and the TV could be a little bigger. Otherwise, a really great place and nice stay.

Everything was great from the drive in to the host and the property. The condo was 2 short blocks from downtown. You can see the town from the balcony and at night it lights up like a Christmas village. It was cute. We were in for a quick getaway to relax and we did just that. We drove up beech mountain to Fred’s Deli and we visited the Banner Elk winery. All were Amazing! We will be back. Thanks Lillian for everything!

Had a wonderful stay at this lovely, quiet 5-star condo very convenient to the local area. Host was welcoming, very responsive via email or text message. Very easy check-in process to access the condo. Condo was very clean, spacious, with a well-stocked kitchen with many thoughtful touches. Host had a wonderful small supply of treats (tea, Keurig K-cups, instant oatmeal, popcorn, mints) to enjoy. Beds were clean and comfortable with linens in very good shape. Wi-fi worked well with more than adequate bandwidth for a party of three using multiple laptops and tablets. Website photos are representative of the condo. Host provided a very helpful guest book of local dining options, points of interest, etc. We ate in at several restaurants in the downtown area that were excellent: good food, good value for money and very pleasant outdoor atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and look forward to staying here again.

Very clean, budget property. We enjoyed our stay! During the hot summer months would recommend keeping the air at a lower temp for guest arrival, but otherwise was a great stay!

Perfect location for our girls trip. It was exactly as described. Place was very clean. Easy check in process. Host very responsive with communication. Breathtaking views. LOVED all the windows in the living room that overlooked downtown Banner Elk. We felt very safe and comfortable. We didn’t find it walkable as described due to hilly roads. Overall this was an excellent place and would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed staying here for our ski trip to NC. Its location is perfect in downtown banner elk. It's so close that we could walk to dinner! It's also a great location for anyone wanting to ski both Beech and Sugar Mountain as we did. Our family of 5 was very comfortable here.

My husband and I came to Banner Elk with friends for a trip to the mountains and wineries. This location was a perfect base as we were near Grandfather Mountain, Boone, NC State Parks and wineries! Main St. Banner Elk was a very short walk - loved walking to town for a stroll on the Greenway and ice cream. Condo was lovely - enough room for our group and kitchen had everything we needed to cook when we ate in on some nights. When we visit, we'll definitely stay here!

They even had "extras" of things we forgot, which came in super handy. You could walk to town. It's up a hill, but not overwhelming... Only a few nitpicks: The pillows were not good. LOVED all the windows in the living room that overlooked downtown Banner Elk. We felt very safe and comfortable. We didn’t find it walkable as described due to hilly roads. Overall this was an excellent place and would definitely stay here again.

Our family had an amazing winter visit. The condo was clean a spacious for the four of us. Close to food and the 2 ski resorts. Lillian was so helpful and answered any questions we had. She was an amazing host. We will be back for sure.

We enjoyed staying here for our ski trip to NC. Its location is perfect in downtown banner elk. It's so close that we could walk to dinner! It's also a great location for anyone wanting to ski both Beech and Sugar Mountain as we did. Our family of 5 was very comfortable here.

The property was exactly as advertised: comfortable, convenient (walkable) to downtown and fully stocked with even a few extras. We will definitely plan to come back.

We had a wonderful anniversary weekend here. Great location, lots of things within walking distance or short drive and beautiful surroundings. The property itself felt cozy and right at home and had everything we needed. Definitely will visit again!

Very nice property. We had a great stay with no issues. The description of the property was accurate. The only thing is the property isn't walkable for everyone to downtown. It's definitely close enough. It's just the very steep hill you have to navigate that makes it not walkable to all guests.

The views were great and was within walking distance to the college. The host has pretty much everything you can think of provided. Lillian was very easy to communicate with.

We enjoyed our stay a lot! The condo is in a great location, walkable to restaurants and bars in Banner Elk, and about a 15 min drive to Beech Mountain Resort. The host, Lillian, was very responsive.
