We had stayed at this hotel several years ago when it was something else. It has since been either purchased with the new owners starting to put in some work, or the past due updates finally being addressed. The current updates are definitely a step in the right direction but still a lot of work to be done. We stayed in a two bedroom suite with balcony and jacuzzi tube. The room had been painted but there was paint splatter on some of the furniture, walls, floors, and you could tell the bathtubs and jacuzzi had been painted, and not well. The balcony had a lot of cobwebs and debris, so it hasn’t been cleaned recently. There was hair all over the bathroom floors. The bed furnishings along with what little updated decor was nice and cozy, but the lack of cleanliness and maintenance was evident. The main entrance door was a hazard and didn’t want to properly close. This hotel has the potential to be one that is highly recommended and have return customers, but there are definitely things that need to be addressed with the cleaning and maintenance staff. Daily we seen the housekeeping staff sitting on the verandas talking or on their phones. We understand breaks are taken, but this was excessive. As consumers we get trying to save a dollar, but there is a level of cleanliness and maintenance that most travelers expect which makes for more business and essentially more revenue. These things should be top tier priorities. Wi-fi was awful. A plus was we seen no bugs, bed or other.

If there were negative stars, this place would get them. Disclaimer: I did NOT do my research on this property BEFORE I booked it. In this day and age in a resort town, I never expected places like this to still exist. I arrived and the front desk person was either chemically impaired, didn’t understand my KY accent or was just not use to talking to someone that had actually stayed in a hotel before. He stayed on his cell phone and clicked through the computer acting as if he was having a hard time finding us a room. (I had booked ahead and they had a credit card on file). It was 6:30pm. He finally said that he found a room but it would be about 30 minutes because they were installing a TV in it. Sounded odd, but of course, they were remodeling and it was a super busy weekend so I didn’t think too much about it. We went to the room to see how long it would be and no one was there. And there was no TV. There was a clear musty (moldy) earthy smell when we opened the door. There was a humidifier in the floor so I guess they were attempting to clear it out. I went to the front desk to inquire about the smell and was told not to worry, there isn’t any mold. We walked a couple businesses down, went and ate and came back an hour later. TV was installed, room still stank. Used the bathroom and realized there was not a trash can. While looking for the trash can in the room, we started noticing how nasty the room was.
