Homewood Suites by Hilton Richmond - Downtown

Parking too crowded.

Could not access rooftop due to a private party. This was the one big reason I booked with this hotel.

The Thursday morning breakfast presentation was a little lacking based on other Homewood properties at which I have stayed. Only drink options were water, the end of a pitcher of milk and warm orange juice. The "turkey" sausage (I\'m guessing) was wholly inedible, no danish, no muffins and a few plain bagels. Also, the "smart" elevators were not working properly. Otherwise, a great stay. Thanks. -=LEP=-

Hotel itself was fine but the parking situation is abominable. There are too few spaces when the hotel is at capacity and the spaces are tiny with little room to maneuver an SUV into the space. I finally got our SUV into a spot, making sure to be within the lines of our space, but the jerk parked next to me keyed our car anyway. In addition the elevator situation is terrible. Half of them were out of service and the wait for one was very long. The other aspects of our stay were fine but the garage situation was a big black mark. I can't see us staying here again.

Parking deck was challenging. Elevator situation was very difficult and overall friendliness of staff was poor and not accommodating still waiting on my security deposit refund and have not seen it. Going to have to make a call.

The hotel is nice. Loved the Lobby. The elevator situation was extremely confusing & annoying. The room was spacious, however, I was expecting a seperate door in a 2 queen suite.

Good location but cold showers were not enjoyable. Rooftop bar is closed due to construction.

Our stay was comfortable, and the room was clean. The area was a little deserted on the weekends, with not a lot close-by for dining and evening things to do. But it did feel safe. Our biggest issues were parking and hot water. We were charged $25 a day for parking, but the garage was full! It was so full that people were parking in aisles not designated as spaces! Our second issue was that for our second day of our stay we had no hot water. We had to take cold showers all day. We checked out that day, so we have no idea how long the problem persisted for, but it was definitely the entire day of our second day.

We had a threat in the lobby from a homeless person that was quite unsettling! Also, had multiple issues with access keys, once in parking garage & no one responded to call. I am SO disappointed in my stay, waste of money & stressil!

The staff is extraordinary -- all shifts. This dog-friendly hotel is our go to whenever we're in Richmond. The suites are spacious and well appointed. The lobby spaces are generous and the staff happily assisted us with reconfiguring tables and seating for spontaneous gatherings of friends. The parking garage is challenging; spaces are very tight. Handicap-accessible spaces at level 4A lead to an elevator lobby blocked by a high curb at the doorway, rendering roll-in access impossible. This is bizarre, particularly given how well planned and well cared for the rest of the property is.

That unit was immaculately clean and bass were comfy. The breakfast was convenient and exceeded expectations

tldr; room was filthy, gas alarm going off was ignored by the hotel, both Hilton and hotels.com unwilling to help. My partner and I were excited to find a hotel in Richmond that allowed pets. First, the front desk person told us our room was give to another customer. Another room was found for us and we were told to wait to make sure it was cleaned. The new room was filthy upon entering with piles of dirt, food, and finger nails in plain sight. I did a quick clean up as much as I could. The room also had so many nooks and crannies that small pets will get lost and stuck. The big kicker and why this review is being written is how unsafe this property is. While we were napping the gas detection system went off and notified us of gas in the room. We promptly took our pets and left. When the room was checked by the staff we were told that the alarm was a “wake up call alarm”. The alarm in question literally says “Gas Detection solutions”. The staff also said this happens all the time and repeated several times “there is no gas here.” Needless to say we chose not to die in the room and left the hotel. Hilton has been unresponsive to our concerns and request for a refund and Hotels.com has refused to help us in getting our money or at least a credit for the night we left. I think it’s incredibly irresponsible for Hotels.com to continue to recommend this hotel on their site and claim there’s nothing they can do to right this issue.

Hotel is in a great location, however the room was extremely gross. Carpet was dirty, found hygiene products on the couch, shower had hair all over shower tiles, the shower head had orange stains and had very low water pressure. Ice machine was also out of order on my floor.

Our room was dirty. All the linens were soiled, including the linens in the bag in the closet. We asked for clean linen and also asked that the room be cleaned while we were gone. Neither one of those things happened. The bathroom door hits the toilet every time you open the door. So you can't be sitting on the toilet and your significant other walks in to get something from the sink because your legs will be destroyed by the door. Also there were so many switches on the wall and only half worked. Had a ceiling fan in the bedroom which was a plus, but had no way to control the speed because there was no remote or way to control the switch on the wall. And we stayed there for our wedding night.

I rented two rooms. My friends roo. Had vomit all over the couch and couch cushions and was haphazardly hidden so nobody would find out till it was too late, food underneath the couch and foot rest, and human hair all over the blantanly misfolded towels. The room was a literal vomitorium and my friends were appauled that this was even a Hilton.

Everything was clean and nice. Loved all the space in the room. Breakfast had good variety. Staff friendly.

This is my second time here and I loved this place so much the first experience. First time was a suite which was amazing with one of my girlfriends. This time we stayed in a double queen bedroom which was super nice and spacious! One of my friends who owns a cleaning company started pointing out a few things. The carpets weren’t clean and had grit on our feet and caked dust in areas.. and I also found other people’s hair beneath our hand towels. A little minor but after dinner we stopped back in and our AC stopped working. Our telephone didn’t work so we couldn’t get ahold of anyone at the front desk. My girlfriends were able to get our room changed to a new room. The woman at the front desk that late night/early morning (2am) was super helpful, soo kind and understanding. Unfortunately after a late night out I find my girlfriends aren’t even sleeping on a mattress cover because they found a blood stain on their sheets which is horrible. Our shower tub was clogged and the bathroom door was hard to shut. Upon check out we had another super sweet woman working the front desk. All in all, it’s a beautiful setting with really friendly and kind staff working the front desk however maintenance and cleanliness is definitely something needed to be worked on.

I was there for 4 days and DID NOT receive housekeeping service of any kind. When I called the front desk to inquire, they mentioned that I had to request for service even though there is a sign in the room stating that housekeeping is preformed every other day.

This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a Hilton property. A/c not working, roaches, mold in showers. Carbon monoxide alarm going off in my room and them telling me they can’t put me in a diff room…terrible

Even very late in night the elevator noise bothered our sleep. The front desk folks could be more efficient in processing checkin. We had to wait beyond our check in time of 3 pm because the room was not ready. This was very disappointing as we had driven for three hours and wanted to stretch out. During the 3 days we stayed no one came to clean the room which was very odd.

I had to go to the neighboring Hampton Inn due to A/C problems at the Homewood Suites. I cannot log into WiFi since I am registered at Homewood Suites, and Homewood Suites is not listed as a WiFi option. Only Hampton Inn shows up as a WiFi option, and my name is not found as a registered guest. The room is ok, but I had booked a suite with separate sitting area and a kitchen area at Homewood Suites. At Hampton Inn I am in a simple hotel room. I am very disappointed with this since I expected a more luxurious accommodation, and I brought food to have dinner in my room. As I had to park in a neighboring garage I cannot bring in all of my things. I use a cane, and also cannot carry heavy items without a luggage cart.

Front door and our room door won’t open, had to go back down ask for new keys and still didn’t work, took more than 30mins to fix our card/door sensor. Bathroom door can’t even close, no space in the bathroom either. Extra sheets and package were just thrown in the little closet. Streets are noisy. No sound proof walls, can hear everything outside our room. Garage is tiny.

Our room was huge compared to our other hotel stays. The bed was super comfortable. The bathroom seemed a bit tired, but was clean and in working order. The location was perfect for what we came to the city to do. The staff was pleasant and helpful.

Overall stay was OK. It just feels a little old in the rooms - however they were stocked and clean. My room was missing a safe and the front staff was not super helpful. I was having to wait on hold and then had to follow up with them. It is on the safer side of downtown Richmond and there was not a time I felt unsafe at location. Breakfast is a nice addition - parking was easy. I would say it’s not a bad hotel by any means but isn’t one I would be eager to return to.

Room 815 was spacious beyond expectation! Very happy with accommodations!

It was a great weekend getaway for my birthday. Rooms are spacious and will recommend to friends for our next stay!

Great place overall - spacious for a family of four with two children, full kitchen with full size fridge( stayed in 1 king bed w/sofa bed suite). Continental breakfast was surprisingly good - egg and cheese omelet, sausage, potatoes, make your own waffle, toasts, apples and bananas, yoghurt, orange juice, coffee. Inviting lobby with real gas-lit fire. Super-easy check in and self-parking ($20/night additional). The only two things to complain about are the flat pillows and there was no shampoo when it was time to shower.

Special shout out to the lady receptionist who gave me the warmest welcome at almost midnight. The smile and empathy for those who spend an entire day of travel, goes a long way. Ty.

I have to say the front desk staff was so kind, friendly and knowledgeable of the area. The day shift lady was fanominal! I told her so at the end of my stay, which put Big smile on her face and she thanked me. I proceeded to tip her for her services! The breakfast bar was superb as well. Delicious in fact! Beds were super comfy. Plenty of towels and toiletries, however l always travel with my own toiletries

Only stayed one night and had time-sensitive plans. Not able to check in on time, but 30 minutes later than advertised check-in time. This put a kink in our plans. Front desk staff at arrival was not welcoming, borderline rude, and seemed generally unsuited to hospitality industry. He left and was replaced by a thankfully friendlier employee. Elevator and some areas of the lobby had an unpleasant odor. Once we got into our room, the room was clean, and spacious.

Our stay at Homewood Suites in Richmond, VA, was just what we needed and more than we expected! The lobby was inviting, staff very professional and friendly, our suite just exceptional and the bed so comfortable I had a hard time getting up. Not to mention the breakfast! It was delicious! I would recommend this hotel to all my friends.

Clean room, nice staff, great location!

Nice hotel in downtown Richmond. 15 min walk to restaurants around the Canal area. Went to The Tobacco Company restaurant and it was excellent and in a beautiful old building.

A very nice location for walking around the downtown area. I took a stroll to the river one day and took several walks towards the Poe museum area of town.

Interviewing at VCU, so this hotel was very convenient and the self parking was connected to the hotel.

Picked hotel off location to a venue for a show. Originally booked a different hotel who was not accommodating to our party size. This hotel was able to easily accommodate us and was a much better price! Great location, staff was friendly facilities were clean. I'd stay here again for sure!

great location for Browns Island and Music Hall venues. Quick Uber ride to Maymont

Solid hotel, no issues at all. Staff was great in our interactions. Hotel was clean, parking in the garage was easy. We were staying to see a concert at the National and that was a 5 minute walk up the street. Area seemed relatively safe, lot of food options around. Easy access to 95. Bed wasn’t the comfiest. Definitely would recommend.

Nice large room convenient to downtown

The location was perfect to the hospital for a post transplant stay. easy in and out. decent breakfast (hot food!!! eggs, meat etc) apartment feel with full kitchen.

I paid 977$ for 2 nights, and I wanted to have a nice romantic late dinner with the wife at the rooftop restaurant (Kabana). We arrived at 9 PM, and there was very loud music. They told us at the door the restaurant turns to a nightclub after 9PM. Thank god we were on the 11th floor, and not below the nightclub. The following morning we had to wait over 30 minutes for breakfast. It turned out that one of the kitchen employees quit, and there was only one lady working. This was all in a weekend.

Place is good and clean. Room is well appointed. Staff is friendly and accommodating with easy check in / out. Breakfast however is mediocre with few basic options and without healthy choices.

The breakfast needs improvement. It is ok but no ham option they offer bacon, no cheese, only apple as a fruit, no greek yogurt. Excellent hotel average breakfast.

The property is in a convenient location. Not much options for breakfast. Room was clean. Shower gel missing and had to call for towels.

The hotel staff was very friendly, and helpful. The room was very quiet. We loved the rooftop restaurant!

For what it's costs I expected a good bit more. Rooms were okay, only one person working at check in which made for a wait, I slept on the pull out couch of our suite and it was probably the worst pull out ever! Skinny mattress and the coils were aggressive. The breakfast had very little to offer but there was some sort of scrambled "egg" product and hash browns but they were gone when I came down at 8:45. On site restaurant was good and drinks were good but they need a few items that are more basic. I appreciated the parking deck and felt safe knowing you had to have a key to get in. Overall, it was fine but not worth the price.

Great stay and wonderful staff. Breakfast was convenient and very tasty. Only issue was the television was not working. Overall, a great stay.

Room was clean, quiet, and in great condition. Downside was that there was only 1 front desk staff making service slow. Only 1 night stay and no evening social due to “delivery” problems. Orbitz email identified evening social to happen at a rooftop bar, which contradicted the front desk clerk’s assertion of it happening in the lobby area. Didn’t matter as the rooftop restaurant was closed for a private event.
