At Hyatt Place Houston Galleria, reviewers frequently praise the walkable Galleria-area location, generally friendly staff, and clean, comfortable rooms, while recurring drawbacks include mandatory valet-only parking with fees and delays, slow or unreliable elevators, and occasionally small or closed pool.

Breakfast is often appreciated, though several guests found the options bland or the area crowded. Rooms are frequently spacious and comfortable, but some feel dated and a number of reviews cite noisy or weak air conditioning and other minor maintenance issues. It took a long time to get checked in due to the front desk lady put me into someone else’s room and the key did not work. Asked the receptionist to come upstairs to see what is going on and finally realized they made mistake the room. The printer was not working we basically booked this hotel specifically to use the printer but made it difficult not having the necessary work space to print papers.

During our stay there was a bit of construction which was kind of inconvenient. The hotel is very pretty and the staff are nice. We were having some trouble with getting our luggage up and down due to limited luggage carts. The valet was nice. I do wish the pool had a view but i do like that its indoor.

The staff were excellent. However, there could be a different system for guests with vehicles instead of making everyone use the valet service. The parking lot stayed 80% empty while my stay and it is either a miss management of facilities or a policy that is not being implemented.

Stayed here for a couple of nights on a business trip. The room was okay—some minor damage in the shower, loud plumbing, and minor stained furniture and carpet. The breakfast lounge was a disappointment. Tables were dirty (guests were wiping them down themselves), baby chairs weren’t clean, and surprisingly, a homeless person came in and seemed to know the area well. Security was called, but it didn’t seem to bother anyone, front desk etc which made it feel unsafe. Overall, the stay was just okay, but the safety needs serious attention.

I’ve stayed at this property twice in 2 years. The hotel itself is great. However, I give the cleanliness of the bathrooms a 3/5. I used shower shoes in the shower during my entire stay because the shower wasn’t the cleanest and needs regrouting. Upon arriving to my room there were stains/residue on the sink from the previous guest and there was black mold around the lining of the sink. Their bathrooms seriously need bleach and a good cleaning.

I booked a room that was able to sleep 6 people. Two queen sized beds and a double pull out from the couch. When we got there, I was told that they over booked our room and they were sending us to the Hyatt Regency instead. We had to stand in line again to get our car out of valet. We went to the Hyatt Regency, checked in and went to the room. There were only two queen sized beds. Only enough room for four people. I had already paid over $200 for the room at the Hyatt Place. I was told at the Hyatt Regency I would have to purchase another room at a discounted price to sleep the 6 people that I had already paid for, or they could refund my money and go elsewhere. We had already wasted over two hours with this run around. I decided to take the refund and go somewhere else. Needless to say, I’m still waiting for my refund and my daughter’s 14 birthday was ruined. Worst experience ever. The front desk people at the Hyatt Place were extremely rude. The people at the Hyatt Regency were very nice.

I came to Houston to have surgery after my recent cancer diagnosis. I planned on recovering at Hyatt Place a couple of days afterwards. We expressed to the front office staff during check-in that I would need a wheelchair after having surgery on Wednesday. The staff assured me that they had a wheelchair in the storage closet and all i’d have to do is ask the valet to call and ask someone to bring it down for us. When we arrived to the hotel after surgery, we were told that another guest took the wheelchair to go SHOPPING. I couldn’t walk to our hotel room so soon after surgery because the hotel allowed another guest to take their only wheelchair off the hotel property to go SHOPPING. Even after alerting the front desk of our need for it during check in 2 days before. We then had to wait 30 minutes while the Hyatt Regency brought over one of their wheelchairs to our hotel. Thank God they had one they could bring over. We were disappointed to say the least. We also disliked the breakfast options. Nothing was good and everything was bland. All in all it’s a clean place to lay your head at night but thats all.

First, when you arrive there is no parking available. You drive into what seems to fit only 3 vehicles bumper to bumper. The valet needs a ticket to park your vehicle, but you have to check in to receive a ticket, so you have to make a mad dash to the 3rd floor where the front desk is. So there’s that. Secondly, the receptionist was a bit rude. I mistakenly added my 18 yr old granddaughter’s name for the first room, which I kept trying to explain to her but she kept cutting me off, and the second room for my husband & I-the cardholder. I was able to check-in to one room, but the receptionist said my granddaughter had to check-in to the other. Because I had gotten off by myself to check us in quickly, I had to go back to the ground level for my granddaughter, we go back to the 3rd floor, only for her to say “oh I can’t check her in, she has to be 21”. When adding the number of rooms on the website, it does ask how many adults & children, which goes up to 17 yrs. So, there was that too. Anyway…the rooms were clean. They smelled a little musty, not that bad to request a change. The bathroom door is a sliding glass door. So really you have no privacy when nature calls. I was not a fan of that. The pool is small. The picture on the website is deceiving, looks a lot longer than what it is.

The stay was overall pleasant — the room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. Staff were courteous, and breakfast was excellent, easily the highlight of my visit. However, the valet service needs improvement. The attendant spoke very limited English and couldn’t explain the parking or retrieval process, which was confusing for an out-of-town guest arriving late. Basic communication training would greatly help. It’s also inconvenient to pay separately for valet at a hotel. Elevators were slow, and the front desk didn’t mention that keycards are required for guest floors — a small detail that would prevent confusion. Overall, I wouldn’t discourage others from staying, but better communication and staff training would make a significant difference in the guest experience.
